Because family and kindergarten are two separated environments, it needs effective communication methods between parents and teachers to educate children. However, the traditional communication methods cannot meet the timeliness of information exchange, which results in the lack of consistency in educational views between parents and teachers. As a simple and easy-to-use technical means, the WeChat public platform is an effective means to solve the problem of cooperative education between families and kindergartens. By analyzing various media technologies, and according to the using habits of users, this paper designs and develops the Family and Kindergarten Cooperative Education System based on WeChat Public Platform which has the advantages of high interactivity and easy accessiblity. The system reduces the using threshold and provides effective services for over 10,000 users of nearly 100 kindergartens in numbers of provinces and cities after it runs on line.","PeriodicalId":403147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 2nd International Conference on Modern Educational Technology","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128148755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An inherent part of formative assessment is students' self-assessment, and one of its techniques is the self-assessment card. The goal of this research was to determine the correlation between students' self-assessment using the self-assessment card and their level of conceptual understanding. The method used to achieve this goal was a single-group quasi-experiment performed at a selected Slovak grammar school in Rožňava. The analysis results show that the dependency between students' results and their self-assessment is significant, direct, and high. Further results showed no statistically significant difference between students' self-assessment and the difficulty of the tasks (from remembering to analysis). It means that the students were capable of objective self-assessment at all levels of conceptual task difficulty from remembering to analysis -- they neither overestimate, nor underestimate themselves.","PeriodicalId":403147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 2nd International Conference on Modern Educational Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130963406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We record feedback from both undergraduate and postgraduate students over three semesters in 2016 and 2017 to steadily adjust the gamification strategy. Our aim is to ensure that the students can benefit the most from this 21st century teaching approach. We find that the students have problems with understanding the game design and getting used to the game as a method of assessment. By making adjustments to our gamification strategy, we document that the students respond more positively after each semester. Our study, therefore, fills the gap in the literature by examining gamification as a process in which we need to continuously make adjustments to overcome any potential challenges. It also provides a research framework for future studies of similar topic to have a comparative understanding about gamification application in higher education.","PeriodicalId":403147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 2nd International Conference on Modern Educational Technology","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132916536","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the field of education, software education has gained more importance to enhance children's creativity; therefore, robot education, which uses robots in education, has been introduced. The purpose of the present study was to compare the effects of hands-on experiential robot activities and Educational Programming Language (EPL) activities applied to early childhood education. In these activities, children assembled and operated robots by themselves, and the effects of the two activities on the children's problem-solving skills were evaluated. A total of 45 five-year-old children attending kindergartens in the city of D participated in the study. In the experimental group, 22 children performed hands-on robot activities, while in the comparison group, 23 children performed EPL-based robot programming activities. An analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was carried out using the pretest score as the covariate and the posttest score as the dependent variable to determine if there was any difference in creative problem-solving skills between the two groups. The results showed that the pretest score, which was covariance, had a significant effect on the posttest score. Furthermore, the difference in the posttest score between the experimental and comparison groups, after removing the effect of the pretest score, was statistically significant (F = 12.491, p < .01). In the time of the global emergence of software education, the results of this study suggest that further discussion of appropriate early childhood software education is needed. The present study suggests the direction of software education from the perspective of early childhood education.","PeriodicalId":403147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 2nd International Conference on Modern Educational Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131269763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
