Though there is much research on political parties’ social mediabased election campaigns, there is a scarcity of research on how political parties use social media for their party-building activities. Particularly about Bangladeshi political parties, there is no research in this area. The user behaviour and effectiveness of the Bangladesh Awami League’s (AL) Facebook page are explored in this study to realise Bangladesh’s social media-based political communication patterns. Following the mixedmethods approach, it has collected both qualitative and quantitative data. This study has analysed the posts shared on AL’s Facebook page to collect its data. The interview is also taken with five key persons closely related to the AL’s Facebook page. This study has explored that Al does not use its Facebook page in a participatory way. Instead, it uses the platform as a one-way communication channel mainly for disseminating information, advertising this party, mobilising its supporters and confronting its opposition parties and rumours. Though it does not use its Facebook page in a participatory way, AL’s Facebook page is helping this party to do its partybuilding activities easily. Besides, it is also helping to enhance and achieve its other goals. The study fills the existing knowledge gap in this field and helps other political parties understand how a Bangladeshi political party uses social media to substantiate its party-building activities.\u0000Social Science Review, Vol. 38(2), December 2021 Page 197-215

Responsive feeding is a growing concern in nutrition field as a potential intervention for caregiver’s behaviour change during feeding. This study was designed to identify the feeding style of caregiver and the role of responsive behaviour on food refusal and nutritional status of young children with CP. This was a cross-sectional mix method study. Participants were children with CP aged between 18-36 months. 66 caregiverchildren were selected as quantitative sample and 11 mothers were included in two focused group discussions for qualitative data. Children’s feeding session for one main meal was videotaped at a rehabilitation centre. Feeding styles were coded as active and responsive behaviour which was further categorized into positive and negative behaviour. Nutritional status was measured as weight for age z scores. Caregivers mostly used active behaviour than responsive and more positive behaviour than negative. The relation between feeding style and food refusal was found and negative behaviour was related with increased food refusal. Significant relationship was found between caregiver’s active and positive behaviour and child’s active behaviour. More than half of the children with CP were underweight for their age. No significant relation appeared between weight for age z score and caregiver’s feeding style.\u0000Social Science Review, Vol. 38(1), June 2021 Page 217-248

Although in practice there remains huge argument regarding people’s effective involvement in the development process due to unwillingness of the supply side and inefficiency, political ignorance of the demand end, it is an undeniable fact that the government of Bangladesh in the recent past has enacted laws for all levels of local government bodies with especial focus given on the people’s participation in different phases of development process. This study aims at reconnaissance of the degree of rights and opportunity given to the general people to participate in the development process presented in the existing Local Government Acts, both in rural and urban local government tiers. The study mainly focuses on the secondary sources, exclusively on the existing Local Government Acts and ordinances. The study finds that all acts have significantly included the opportunities for local people to participate in the decision-making process. It is interesting to say that the lower the tier of local government, the higher opportunity to participate in decision making process.\u0000Social Science Review, Vol. 38(1), June 2021 Page 1-16

Through their activism, the sex workers demanded their rights. Just about the same period, NGOs were working with the sex workers on HIV-related issues focusing on their empowerment alongside condom promotion. Through their involvement with the NGOs and HIV programmes, the sex workers have gained visibility in the public domain. Due to availability of funds from the NGOs sex workers were able to participate in international gatherings where they learnt about sex work as a form of labour. In claiming their rights, the sex workers exhibited active agency which corresponds to pro-sex work feminist discourse. However, despite some positive outcomes of the sex workers’ movement, the demand for their rights became blurred as they got more and more involved in the arena of HIV. Using a feminist methodology, this article draws on the experiences of women’s rights activists, sex worker activists as well as sex workers to understand the trajectory that the struggles of the sex workers have taken place due to their involvement with NGOs and HIV-related programmes. The Hijras are perceived to live at risk of being the victims of social harassment everywhere due to negative societal attitudes towards this section. For this reason, they are far behind from the enjoyment of basic needs and fundamental rights that impede the realization of the human rights of Hijras. This article explores the reasons for the marginalization of the Hijra community and sheds light on how to ensure human rights in the prevailing legal structure of Bangladesh by overcoming the challenges. Consequently, this paper attempts to identify the effectiveness of the existing laws and policies to address the problem faced by hijras and thus find out the gaps. The author shows that leaving them far away from the mainstream society due to lack of implementation of existing laws, policies and lack of cordial attitude of the family as well as because of lacking in knowledge of hijras regarding the laws and policies. After hearing the term Bede, the things which first clicked in one’s mind is that women roaming in a village with bag of business products on their head and vociferating to attract people to whom they offer treatments (joint pain, toothache), sell products like, home utensils, trinket sand amulets, bangles, herbal medicines etc. They are member of an ethnic minority group with unique traditional culture and lifestyle and their behavioural pattern also has a distinctive character, unusual from the people of mainstream society. Generally, these groups of people are socially, economically, and politically excluded and they are severely deprived of all types of necessities. Research found that transgender people are highly misrepresented in film and for this misrepresentation- they have to pay to achieve their rights from society. Hence, to work for the betterment of the transgender community in Bangladesh; it is important to know their representation style in Bangladeshi film. This paper has analysed the film Common Gender based on the content analysis method and the film narratology method while the representation theory worked as its theoretical framework. This paper found the film has represented transgender people in the same way that the Bangladeshi dominant society thinks about transgender people. There are no differences between the representation style and the reality. The main objective of this research is to find out the core causes of these problems and to examine how these problems make hindrances to ensure equal access to primary education in Tanguar Haor. Simultaneously, this study has analysed the existing scenario of primary education in this area. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches have been incorporated in this fieldwork-based study. The survey, FGD, and KII methods have been applied in this research to collect primary data from sixty (60) respondents of purposively selected villages and primary schools. The researcher has identified major drawbacks such as poverty, dropout, high repetition, absenteeism in school, shortage of enough teachers that create serious obstacles towards ensuring equal access to primary education in the Tanguar Haor of Sunamganj District. However, women of rural Bangladesh combine their membership with a dual identity and make a wise use of it. Thus, families and kin relations have impact on the life and living of the individuals. In the context of Bangladesh, the reproductive behaviour of the woman has been shaped according to her social positioning, post marital residence, decision making status and wealth. This research contributed to understand the reasoning of the reproductive behaviour of the rural women and discussed on the influence of kin in determining age of fertility, gap between children and survival of the child. The research argues that the influence of close kins in women’s fertility and childcare is inevitable in Bangladesh. Among others, the Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) model is an important sociological tool to understand the response and prepare the preventive strategies in a global pandemic. This study aims to investigate the relevance of the KAP model to understand the COVID-19 pandemic situation by measuring participant’s knowledge and outlook towards the pandemic and eventually how this results in their everyday practice. An online cross-sectional survey was carried out among university students of Bangladesh. Data were collected during the onset of the pandemic: March-April 2020. The finding reveals the KAP model shows relatively low success in explaining the COVID-19 situation in Bangladesh’s social context. Besides, existing features of the KAP model can hardly shed light on the diversity of socio-economic conditions, strong prevalence of intersectionality, evolving nature and multidimensionality of knowledge. By showing some limitations of the KAP model, this study suggests going beyond the KAP model (if necessary) to understand the complexity of the COVID-19 condition, which in turn widens its scope for further improvement.\u0000Social Science Review, Vol. 38(1), June 2021 Page 33-52
