The process of creating Conceptual Graphs involves semiotics: the semantics, pragmatics and syntactics of the information, as well as graph structuralism and isomorphic projection, all described as decisions of a learning agent or system. The actual process taught from demonstrations of a human user, is known as Semantic Parsing, and is learnt by the agent through the novel fusion of Reinforcement Learning (RL) and Restricted Boltzmann Machines (RBM). Herein we showcase the design of such an agent in a theoretical manner, in order to define the background mechanisms which will learn how to parse information and correctly project it onto Conceptual Graphs.","PeriodicalId":402208,"journal":{"name":"12th Symposium on Neural Network Applications in Electrical Engineering (NEUREL)","volume":"208 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127600072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method is simple, fast, but considerably sensitive with respect to the selected features/frequencies for classification. Choosing a predefined number of features leads to results similar to GTEC/BCI2000 while an optimal selection gives improved results but still requires additional investigation.","PeriodicalId":402208,"journal":{"name":"12th Symposium on Neural Network Applications in Electrical Engineering (NEUREL)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132977459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In that sense, along with the advance physical abilities, personal robots will be required to perceive, understand and express (use) the emotions as well as to react in a socially accepted manner by enhancing in such a way their interaction with social environment. In a word, robot is expected to possess a character, i.e. personality traits like human as live model. Possessing of character is of great importance for robot-partners due to reason of better acceptance amongst the humans as well as in order to make robots to be able of better understanding people behavior. The fact proved is that high degree of interpersonal compatibility, emotive complementarity and mutual understanding within a team or group ensures better outcomes than the team consists of superior individuals of high intelligence quotients (IQs). People choose partners in a way to be complementary with them and ones that manifest in general sense high level of mutual understandings and agreements. On the other hand, people do not enjoy the opposed persons of incompatible or conflict character. From these reasons, we investigate in the paper the answers if possible and how to give robots different characters i.e. attributes of human personalities.","PeriodicalId":402208,"journal":{"name":"12th Symposium on Neural Network Applications in Electrical Engineering (NEUREL)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121135852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Integration of IEEE 1451 services based on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) enables simple implementation, interoperability, scalability of distributed system components, accessible in the form of network services. Addressing the transport latency and packet loss in distributed systems, we propose the concept of algorithms' and processes' implementation in the form of dislocated network services. Introducing the signal data paths, time-stamped data and time synchronization mechanism, we provide the support for real-time system characteristics. Each component on the data path is able to analyze the packets of time-stamped information, extract an adequate sample set, and apply this set to the input of the implemented real-time algorithm or actuator. Proper management of the time-stamped information along data path enables real-time actions despite the network propagation delay or other systems' latencies. In this paper, the presented architecture is used for integration of the signal prediction service in smart transducers network based on SOA. Purpose of the service is to predict the values of arbitrary signals in order to compensate network delay and packet loss. Two realizations of the signal prediction service, based on neural networks are given: feed-forward and feedback predictive network. The system containing embedded IEEE 1451 smart transducer module for relative humidity measurement and signal prediction service on the general purpose platform is used for the experimental verification of the proposed concept.","PeriodicalId":402208,"journal":{"name":"12th Symposium on Neural Network Applications in Electrical Engineering (NEUREL)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125613463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the focus of the related quantum-holistic methods are acupuncture system and consciousness - which as macroscopic quantum biosystems have (fundamental!) quantum-informational structure of Hopfield-like holographic neural network, within the Feynman propagator version of quantum mechanics. In this context, all acupuncture-based and consciousness-based approaches and techniques can be essentially considered as quantum-informational therapies, via bioresonant imposing of new boundary conditions in the energy-state space of the acupuncture system/ consciousness, with downward quantum-holographic biofeedback influence on the cells conformational protein changes and genes expression. This might provide fundamental quantum-informational framework for better understanding of the nature of psychosomatic diseases as well as limitations of the healing methods, which might help in developing strategies for integrative medicine.","PeriodicalId":402208,"journal":{"name":"12th Symposium on Neural Network Applications in Electrical Engineering (NEUREL)","volume":"123 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116501205","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper contact based system for heart rate is presented, where system for HR acquisition is consisted of a laptop and web camera. In such system heart rate variability (HRV) affects the changes in skin color of a fingertip while pressing the camera lens to make the full contact. HR value is estimated according to video sequence processing results. The proposed methodology uses local approach for feature extraction and cepstral based analysis. Experimental results are compared with referent pulse meter for healthy subjects. The average error of 5% is obtained.","PeriodicalId":402208,"journal":{"name":"12th Symposium on Neural Network Applications in Electrical Engineering (NEUREL)","volume":"151 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133614420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is based on new technologies which enable us to find genetic differences between individuals and as a result give us a chance to identify patients likely to benefit from a treatment. One of the key challenges to its advance is insufficient amount of clinically-annotated genomic data available in the public domain. To address this issue, a consortium named Dialogue for Reverse Engineering Assessments and Methods (DREAM) was setup to bring the larger community to work together on major issues in the field. The main idea is to bring more data in the public domain and to pose personalized medicine problems as competitive challenges (competitions) with deadlines and non-commercial rewards for winners. Anybody from around the world is allowed to participate, and researchers from leading world universities have joined in. In the latest challenge the goal was to predict relevant clinical outcomes of Acute Myeloid Leukemia patients treated with standard chemotherapy regimen, using a combination of clinical (age, sex, lab test results etc.) and genomic data. The final results of the competition were released in October 2014. Team Clinical Persona placed third in predicting remission duration and fourth in estimating overall survival. The purpose of our talk is twofold. First, we show the benefits of public competitions in science and especially in predictive modeling. Second, we show our lessons from participating in the challenge.","PeriodicalId":402208,"journal":{"name":"12th Symposium on Neural Network Applications in Electrical Engineering (NEUREL)","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117265445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the image enhancement is very important step in medical imaging. We investigate the potential application of High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging in echocardiography. HDR image is generated using two Low Dynamic Range (LDR) echocardiograms. Since many devices can display only limited range of luminous intensity, the dynamic range of input HDR image needs to be reduced. This is done by operation called tone mapping. Several HDR tone mapping methods are analyzed and the results are presented in the paper.","PeriodicalId":402208,"journal":{"name":"12th Symposium on Neural Network Applications in Electrical Engineering (NEUREL)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122003283","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
