Wide recognition is based on his contribution to increased productivity, better collaboration, quick response to changing market needs and faster delivery of quality products. Although Scrum works better for small projects, practitioners face some challenges in implementing it in Sudanese software companies. Experts have tried to improve Scrum in ways that eliminate these shortcomings and limitations, but no company has been able to solve all the problems. The purpose of this study is to provide a customized Scrum framework for small and medium-sized software companies in Sudan with the aim of improving team productivity and documentation. . The study used asynchronous online focus group data collection as a very useful technique to obtain feedback from small and highly experienced groups in the field of agile software development. The resulting customized Scrum framework requires the adaptation and development of classic Scrum techniques and responsibility for solving problems while maintaining the integrity and simplicity of the methodology.","PeriodicalId":402125,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Engineering and Technology Advances","volume":"12 32","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139591421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, this study focused on the performance evaluation of a newly developed locust bean de-pulping machine. The machine consists of a frame, stainless steel one-end closed vertical cylindrical sieve, set of paddles with brushes, stainless steel water bath with inlet and outlet, and prime mover (GX 200 gasoline engine). It was evaluated at 150, 250 and 350 rpm operating speed levels, 65, 76, 84% wb moisture content levels, and 5, 10 and 15 kg sample weight in triplicates by employing factorial design. The data obtained was analyzed using IBM SPSS version 16 computer package to carryout analysis of variance (ANOVA), separate and compare the means. The result showed maximum de-pulping efficiency of 98.95% and machine capacity of 40.55 kg/h both at 350rpm operating speed, 84% wb moisture content level of 5 kg and 10 kg sample weight respectively. Its optimal operating condition was found to be at 350 rpm operating speed, 84%wb moisture content level and 10 kg sample weight. De-pulping efficiency of the machine increased with an increase in the operating speed and moisture levels but decreases with increase in sample weight, while machine capacity increased with increase in the operating speed, moisture level and sample weight. The ANOVA result showed that the operating speed has significant effect on de-pulping efficiency and machine capacity, while moisture content and sample weight have no significant effect on both de-pulping efficiency and machine capacity at 95% level of significance. The machine is therefore adjudged suitable for extension, adoption and commercialization.","PeriodicalId":402125,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Engineering and Technology Advances","volume":" 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139137717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Functional groups of the extract were revealed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. In addition, qualitative and quantitative analyses of the extract were carried out to ascertain the level of the phytochemicals. Effects of process variables on the effectiveness of guava leaf extract as corrosion inhibitor were determined. Then, modeling of the experimental data of inhibition efficiency of the guava leaf extract was carried using response surface methodology. In the process, modeling of the inhibition efficiency was actualized using design expert software version 11. Analysis of variance and diagnostic analysis of the model on interactive effects of inhibitor concentration, temperature and time on the inhibition efficiency were examined. Analysis of the results showed that the main functional groups of guava leaf are O-H stretch, C-H stretch, N-H bend, CH3C-H bend, C-O stretch and C-H bend. Alkaloid was found to be highly concentrated in the extract; 223.71 ±0.12 mg/100g. Tannins, flavonoids, phytates and saponins were present at moderate (concentrated) levels. Weight loss, corrosion rate, inhibition efficiency and degree of surface coverage were influenced by the inhibitor concentration, temperature and time. Quadratic model adequately described the relationship between inhibition efficiency and process variables. The predicted R² of 0.9311 is in reasonable agreement with the adjusted R² of 0.9867. Guava exhibited high inhibition efficiency. Hence, it can be used to inhibit corrosion of Al in KOH solution.","PeriodicalId":402125,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Engineering and Technology Advances","volume":" 25","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139141754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study sought to find out the state of abandoned State-funded construction projects within Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem Municipality (KEEAM) in the Central Region of Ghana. The population of the study was made up of 160 construction professionals (Consultants and Contractors). A sample size of 81 respondents was determined based on Cochran’s formula, due to the lack of a definite number of consultants and contractors within KEEAM. The questionnaire was administered personally to the respondents and the data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics. Findings show that most of the Government/State-funded projects were supervised or executed by consultants and that, GETFund projects were mostly abandoned. Inappropriate project planning and scheduling were found to be the major cause of abandoned State-funded projects. Sometimes, corruptive behaviours of construction professionals and lack of commitment of construction professionals. These had contributed to the difficulty in foreign loan acquisition. Effective decision-making by construction professionals was the most appropriate measure to use in mitigating the effect of abandoned State-funded projects. The government of Ghana should take the lead in an effective project risk management process to safeguard the interests of both parties involved in the GETFund projects.","PeriodicalId":402125,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Engineering and Technology Advances","volume":" 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139138621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Grey iron is the predominant material, constituting around 68% of all cast parts. In this context, Kolhapur plays a pivotal role in the production of diverse castings in India, primarily focusing on grey iron and SG iron castings, both of which are ferrous materials. The Kolhapur Cluster of Foundries is expected to produce approximately 650,000 tonnes annually, contributing about 7% of India's total cast iron production. However, this cluster encountered challenges related to higher rejection rates for castings due to a variety of defects. One established foundry in Kolhapur faced stricter rejection standards for specific castings. To address these issues, a comprehensive case study was conducted to reduce rejection rates in this foundry. The primary focus of the study was on a specific casting, the Gearbox Housing, which had an initial average rejection rate of 13%. In some instances, this rejection rate spiked to as high as 18% in a single month, resulting in significant revenue losses for the company. The defects observed in Gearbox Housing castings were categorized into two main types: Methoding, Filling, and Solidification-related defects, which included issues like shrinkage porosity and hot tears. Sand and mold-related defects, such as sand inclusion, sand drop, and mold quality issues. The initial step in addressing these defects involved utilizing casting simulation techniques to analyze and tackle shrinkage and porosity issues. A new gating system was designed to enhance the casting process. In the subsequent stage of defect reduction, the Design of Experiment (DoE) tool was employed. This data-driven approach helped refine and optimize the manufacturing process to minimize defects and enhance the overall quality of Gearbox Housing castings. By implementing these strategies, the foundry in Kolhapur successfully reduced rejection rates, thereby safeguarding company revenue and ensuring the production of high-quality castings for various industrial applications.","PeriodicalId":402125,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Engineering and Technology Advances","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139206113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
