The objective of this work is to investigate whether the characteristics of the literary genre short story contribute or not to the development of an Investigative Teaching Sequence (SEI). For this, we produced an SEI, addressing the pesticide theme, having as an element the short story elaborated by the authors of this article. SEI, was submitted to a systematic validation process, through design research, with specialists and, from this process, the data of the study emerge. The analysis was carried out through Content Analysis, seeking to perceive in the writing the characteristics that define the story (brevity, function, unity of effect and conflict) and the relationship of these characteristics with the stages of SEI. The objective of this research was to use the theme “Marine Pollution by Plastics” in the teaching of polymers by means of the Science, Technology and Society (STS) approach. The didactic intervention took place in a public school in Sergipe for students in the 3rd grade of High School. The aim was to study the polymer-plastic-society tripod and the development of values as described in Santos and Mortimer (2000). Two instruments were used for data col-lection: collective interview and questionnaire. Six teachers from public schools in the southern region of the country participated in the interview, and 15 students in preparation for admission to higher education in the same region took part in the questio-nnaire. Discursive Textual Analysis (ATD) methodology was used to analyze the data, from which emerged three categories: Sexual Education (in)visible in the voices of teachers and students; obstacles in the approach to Sex Education in Chemistry Teaching in Basic Education; and Sex Education in the light of different views and perspectives for Chemistry Teaching. The presence of issues related to gender relations and violence in the school space was highlighted in the discussions, and these are potential themes for work in the teaching of Chemistry. Some plants can be used as natural indicators, as substances with color changing properties can be extracted from them, depending on the characteristics of the solution in which they are specified. One of these plants is the “red cabbage”, which, over the years, is part of the publications of the Encontro Nacional de Ensino de Química (ENEQ), and in the magazine Química Nova na Escola (QNEsc), constituting what we call here “The Saga of Red cabbage in Chemistry”. There are several works that bring red cabbage as a possibility for experimental activities in Chemistry, especially when used as an acid-base indicator and pH scale. In this study we analyzed how publications from the annals of the ENEQ from the year 1996 to 2018 (last ENEQ) and all publications of the New Chemistry magazine, which was launched in 1995. The sample was carried out by means of searching the keyword red cabbage.
