Guedes","doi":"10.21577/0104-8899.20160343","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21577/0104-8899.20160343","url":null,"abstract":": Problem posing education is a concept developed by Paulo Freire, which aims to build up social subjects who question their realities and change their history. The term “problem posing” has been revised and adapted to various contexts, including science education. In this work, a literature review was conducted in order to analyze the meanings given to the term “problem posing” in chemistry teaching and the theoretical frameworks used to support its application in papers published in the journal Química Nova na Escola in the last decade. The findings show that Paulo Freire’s works were used as the main theoretical contributions to support the concepts of problem posing as praxis , while works by Delizocoiv, Angotti and Pernam-buco are the main theoretical contributions to support problem posing as a didactic methodology in chemistry teaching. The chemistry club was structured based on the development of inquiry activities where the participants were supervised by monitors who provided them with the support they needed in the inquiry processes. Data analysis was conducted through a triangulation of the data obtained from the questionnaires responded by the club participants during the activities. Results show that the participants’ engagement in the chemistry club activities boosted their interest in exploring their ideas and knowledge of science and chemistry.
