Recent days segmentation is used extensively in automated image analysis. The ultimate aim in an automated system is to extract important features from the image data, from which description, interpretation or understanding of the scene can be provided by the machine. This task becomes difficult while dealing with high resolution imagery due to superfluous details, too many objects and possibly low contrast ratio present in the imagery. In this paper, we discuss the effectiveness of object based segmentation method such as edge guided region growing over simple region growing segmentation techniques for World View-0.5 meter high resolution imagery (Digital Globe imagery products). This paper is an attempt to develop an unsupervisory algorithm for automated software to segment high resolution urban satellite images. Experimental results demonstrate promising performance achievements compared to simple region based segmentation methods for detecting tall buildings. Especially label images are wrapped around cylindrical objects, thus when viewed in a skewed direction, the text on the label appear severely distorted. Because of the distorted text, it makes some difficult to recognize the text. Recognition of such distorted text on label images can be a source of incorrect recognition of the label content. In this paper, we present two methods on the correction of the distorted text, one by using mapping function and another by the biquadratic transformation function. First, boundary lines of the label are detected by Hough transform and Bezier curve approximation. Architecture of multilevel computing focusing on its embedded processor is suggested in our project. The architecture design of embedded processor presents the challenges and opportunities that stem from the task coarse granularity and the large number of input and output for each task. Thus, we have designed a new architecture called Embedded Concurrent Computing (ECC). The entire embedded processor architecture is implemented on the FPGA chip using VHDL. We have synthesized and evaluated the embedded system based on an Altera environment by using a DE2 board. The performances of a realistic application show scalable speedups comparable to that of the simulation. Furthermore, the results show the accuracy of Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) rather than the Kalman Filter (KF) in identifying the landmarks and target in underwater environment, and the usefulness of the multiple filtering techniques when the nonlinearities are too large due to linearization errors. We believe that implementation has been achieved in providing low complexity in terms of FPGA resource usage and frequency. Based on common broadcasting style, a shot can be classified as a far-view or a closeup-view. The technique considers the frame-wise color values of each pixel in the HSV color space, while at the same time calculating the assumed object size within the segmented playfield region. Based on our experiments, it is shown that this technique can greatly reduce the number of misclassified shots, while at the same time maintain a good level of accuracy. Jatropha curcas oil as biodiesel feedstock has a bright prospective because it is categorized as non edible oil which the availability will not be threaten by food purposes. Traditional identification of Jatropha curcas fruits is performed by human experts. The Jatropha curcas fruit quality depends on type and size of defects as well as skin color and fruit size. This research develops a pattern recognition system to identify the Jatropha curcas fruit maturity and grade the fruit into relevant quality category. The system is divided into two stages: the first stage is a training stage that is to extract the characteristics from the pattern. The second stages is to recognize the pattern by using the characteristics derived from the first task. Back propagation diagnosis model is used to recognition the Jatropha curcas fruits. It is ascertained for the developed system is used in recognizing the maturity of Jatropha curcas fruits. The Multiwavelet is a complete orthonormal and symmetry. Multiwavelet shows promise in obviating some of the Multiwavelt with orthonormal Barkel wavelet, and 9/7 wavelet in image compression performance on 6 gray scale images. A proposed compression algorithm is used, which include the use of Round function and the Run Length Encoding techniques (RLE). The result is obtained in terms of PSNR, and Bit Rate (BitR). Extensive experimental results demonstrate that Multiwavelet methods exhibit performance high to, or in several cases superior to, the other methods in the proposed algorithm. The probabilistic entropy is calculated for the most frequently occurring short duration disturbances in distribution system which is based on Shannon's entropy. The variation of probabilistic entropy with respect to the deviation in the magnitude and duration of the disturbed signal is presented in the form of bar chart and graphs. The automatic recognition is achieved using an artificial neural network, (ANN) in conjunction with fuzzy based decision logic. A new type of power quality (PQ) factor, Equivalent Disturbance Factor (EDF) has been proposed in this paper. This technique is a nonlinear generalization of the linear equalizer. In the present work, linear frequency selective fading channels in presence of additive white gaussian noise are considered and BPSK modulation is employed. Comparison of the simulation results based on our proposed technique with the results obtained when linear equalizer is employed, shows that our technique leads to a considerably better BER performance at moderate and higher SNRs. The fast algorithm used to compute its feature is also presented. Extracting Slit features requires 11 to 17% of arithmetic operations when compared to that for Gabor features. Experimental results for the classification of rotated texture images indicate that Slit kernels perform as well as, or sometimes better than, Gabor ones. Five different gasoline-ethanol fuel blend rates by volume are prepared. The Image of the spray is captured using schlieren imaging technique and image processing is employed to extract macro spray characteristics- spray tip penetration and spray cone angle.
