We study and record the performances based on three features namely, Contourlet, Gabor and Tamura. An enhanced version of Tamura feature is proposed that produces better result than the conventional one. Results of our experiment suggest that, for a given class of images, segmentation algorithm using Contourlet and Gabor with similar feature space perform equally well. Changes are detected by automatically finding the best threshold value of the standard log-ratio image that is derived from the two multitemporal SAR images. Minimum error thresholding is performed using relative entropy method. It is also of considerable practical importance; many actual and potential applications of visual tracking algorithms exist in domains such as surveillance, medicine, robotics and the media. Although many effective tracking algorithms exist, occlusion and camouflage remain a common problem. These can cause a tracker to become dissociated from its target, so that the data it produces is unrelated to the target's behaviour. We focus on the detection of occlusion and camouflage during particle filter-based tracking. We use a Gaussian Mixture Model of particle distribution, extracted via the EM algorithm, to investigate the effects of occlusion and camouflage on the particle set representing a given target. The information gained from this investigation informs the design of process-behaviour chart which alerts the tracker of the occurrence of occlusion or camouflage. In this paper a comparative study of locating different kind of faults, namely arc, open circuit, short circuit and high impedance faults on different transmission line models is presented. Effect of lossy ground condition with various soil resistivities on frequency dependent line models is also investigated. Simulation on a 400-kV power transmission system is carried out using ATP/EMTP. The current signals measured at both ends of system are utilized for the study. Wavelet Toolbox in MATLAB is used for obtaining Wavelet Transform coefficients. The conventional edge dependent interpolation algorithms have a visually better performance than any other Intra-field deinterlacing algorithms. However they are very sensitive to noise due to the failure of estimating edge direction. In order to exactly detect edge direction, our method detects edge direction of around interpolated pixel and refines the edge direction using weighted median filter. Because the surveillance system uses a built-in web server, the camera control entails camera response time and network delays. Thus, the frame rate is irregular and in general low (3–7 fps). Our method has been designed specifically to perform in such conditions. At every frame, candidate targets are detected by extracting moving target using optical flow, a sampling, and appearance. The target is determined among samples using a fuzzy classifier. The unconstrained minimum average correlation energy (UMACE) filter generates a recognition parameter based on peak to side lobe ratio (PSR). Instead of training the support vector machine by the face image for classification, the PSR values from a set of UMACE filters is used to train the SVM. Retinal images can be used for other applications such as ocular fundus operations and human recognition. Due to the acquisition process, these images often have low grey level contrast and dynamic range that can seriously affect diagnosis procedure results. In this paper, we present an algorithm for retinal image contrast enhancement based on the second generation of new multi-resolution analysis tool called Curvelet Transform which is faster and simpler than the first version. Curvelet transform has favorable geometric features that provide better representation of edges compare to other widely used multi-resolution tools such as Wavelet. We use a nonlinear function to modify the Curvelet coefficients based on their statistic features. Current conventional system implementation works perfectly for a guaranteed network bandwidth. However, when the packet experience losses due to drop in bandwidth, it could not preserve an acceptable video quality over the heterogeneous network. Thus, if the bandwidth could be determined in real-time, an application that controls the scalability of video stream sent over the channel can be used to control the video quality. This is done by reducing the bit-rate of the video to be sent according to current available bandwidth. In this paper, a scalable video streaming system with automate bandwidth control over heterogeneous network, using spatial scalability approach and end-to-end available bandwidth estimation are designed and implemented. The proposed approach works based on the changes of the object size due to the changes of object distance within a scene captures by the sensor. In this method we use an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) to estimate the size of the object (physical dimension). The estimated size of the object and the information gathered from the sensed scene over time is used to passively estimate the object range.
