Water trees were grown at room temperature, under an electric field of 4 kV/mm, 5 kHz, and having a 0.1 M NaCl solution as electrolyte in contact with a face of the sample having needle-like defects created by pressing a sheet of abrasive paper. The breakdown tests have been carried out under an AC voltage ramp, at 50 Hz. The dielectric spectroscopy was the tool used to analyze the dielectric behavior of LDPE samples with and without water trees, over a frequency range of 10 mHz-1 MHz, at room temperature. The results show a good correlation of the breakdown strength decrease with the increase of water tree average length and relative volume. The dielectric spectra of water-treed samples emphasize an increase of the sample permittivity with the water tree growth, as well as three relaxation peaks in the loss tangent frequency variation obeying the Havriliak-Negami law. Possible electrical equivalent circuits for treed and non-treed samples are also discussed.","PeriodicalId":399638,"journal":{"name":"2013 8TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ADVANCED TOPICS IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING (ATEE)","volume":"216 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126988337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By using a particular balancing algorithm, varying resistive and resistive-inductive loads are successfully supplied up to a threshold of 85% from the generator power in three-phase mode. As the load active power is increased beyond this limit, the voltage tends to decrease. Experiments are carried out in order to establish the overall system behavior when loaded to full load. They show that it is possible to supply the loads beyond the 85% limit.","PeriodicalId":399638,"journal":{"name":"2013 8TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ADVANCED TOPICS IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING (ATEE)","volume":"9 15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116979228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most important cause for vibration and noise in electrical machines is the radial component of the electromagnetic force produced in the machine. The first aim of this paper is to present the Maxwell Stress Tensor Method as an approach for calculating this radial component of the electromagnetic force. After that, an analytical method for predicting the radial displacements in electrical machines is presented. The paper continues with a 2D Finite Element Analysis example in order to validate the analytical method.","PeriodicalId":399638,"journal":{"name":"2013 8TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ADVANCED TOPICS IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING (ATEE)","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122094828","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To avoid any premature failure, it is important to monitor the vital parameters which characterize the condition of the machine. This field of research is in continuous expansion having as a final objective a monitoring system which best fulfills the quality - price ratio. This paper presents a method and new monitoring and diagnosis system for the evaluation of a hydrogenerator insulation systems' condition. The first part of the paper presents the main parameters used for monitoring and diagnosis of the hydrogenerator condition (ambient and winding temperatures, vibrations, speed, air gap and so on). There are also described in detail the main hardware components (units of measurements, acquisition, processing and display of results) and their facilities. The proposed online monitoring and diagnosis system contains monitoring solutions for relevant condition parameters, mechanical structure, ventilation etc. Finally, the software component which is being used by the monitoring system is described.","PeriodicalId":399638,"journal":{"name":"2013 8TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ADVANCED TOPICS IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING (ATEE)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128952151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the present working style in engineering faculties does not focus much on this aspect. To deal with this challenge, we developed an educational platform that allows characterization of acquisition ensembles, generation of Web pages for lessons, as well as transformation of measured data and storage in a common format. As generally we had to develop individual parsers for each instrument, we also added the possibility to integrate the LabVIEW workbench, often used for rapid development of applications in electrical engineering and automatic control. This paper describes how we configure the platform for specific equipment, i.e. how we model it, how we create the learning material and how we integrate the results in a central database. It also introduces a case study for collecting data from a thermocouple-based acquisition system based on LabVIEW, used by students for a laboratory of measurement technologies and transducers.","PeriodicalId":399638,"journal":{"name":"2013 8TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ADVANCED TOPICS IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING (ATEE)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125372004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
