The aging process alone reveals recognizable life events that are inevitable, which the different biological and social theories tried to come up with explanations for. Amid the changes, which one seemed to dominate? Understanding this phenomenon is essential not only for the elderly to prepare but as well as for the significant others and people in the health care arena to understand. This study aimed to assess the significant life events that affected change among elderlies. This research is qualitative and employed interpretative phenomenology, utilizing the Hermeneutic approach in the data gathering process. The informants were the seven elderlies from the first district of Bohol, aged 60 years old and above chosen through purposive sampling. An in-depth interview was conducted to gather the data which focused on the life events experienced by the informants and how they affected change. The data were transcribed, interpreted, and analyzed to come up with the common meaning of the lived experience. The findings of the study pointed out four themes; a.) Advancing age, declining health, and vanishing resources, b.) Retirement: the inevitable moment and uncertainty of what lies ahead, c.) the loss of a loved one and the accompanying pain, and d.) The moment of change and living with life’s changes. These four themes explain the conclusion that the aging process brings about significant events such as the decline in health, uncertainty in Retirement, and the possible loss of loved ones. These events affected changed the individuals’ lives.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115154692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Bohol province, most Lying–clinics are owned and managed by private practicing registered midwives. Compliance in this study pertains to the capacity of the private Lying-in clinics as to facilities, equipment, and personnel. This study aimed to assess the personal and professional profiles of the respondents, and the compliance status of clinic managers and clinic staff to the DOH licensing and Phil Health Requirements based on the seven areas under study in the operation and management of private Lying- clinics. The researcher formulated survey questions adapted from DOH and Assessment Checklist for licensing birthing facilities. The respondents of the study were clinic managers and staff of the eleven private Lying-in clinics in Bohol which were managed by midwives. The study made use of a quantitative normative survey, and the responses were analyzed through frequency, percentile, weighted mean, and Scheffe’s test. Results showed that all clinic managers and clinic staff were registered midwives, trained, and were excellent in complying with the requirements in the operation and management of private Lying in-clinics. The outcome of this study may serve as the basis for a review of the accreditation requirements of a primary-level health care facility for administration.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129027021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper has investigated the level of retirement preparedness of the UB Employees vis-à-vis their level of financial literacy. The study applied a quantitative approach, utilizing the descriptive-normative survey method with a modified survey questionnaire. The quantitative data collected were coded to ensure the confidentiality of the data. The analysis, comparison, and checking for similarities or differences in financial literacy in correlation with retirement preparedness were statistically treated using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation, Chi-Square, and t-test. Based on the results, showed that there is a negative correlation between financial literacy and the level of retirement preparedness. In conclusion, a high level of financial literacy does not translate to preparation for life after employment. Young professionals are slightly more financially literate than their older counterparts. However, most of them do not have any investments allotted for retirement. Implications of this study would serve as the basis for attaining the employees’ goal for their retirement preparation and will form part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) project for the employees.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128626779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The bodies of knowledge relating to community relations, from experiential learning to service learning, support this necessity for the academe’s role in scholarship engagement. A study was made on the perceptions of the university stakeholders on the indicators for institutional sustainability, adapted from the CHED QA tool, on the issues of relevance of community programs, funding adequacy for the programs, and degree of participation by the school and its constituents. The researcher formulated survey questions that were distributed to and answered by key institutional stakeholders: the administrators, faculty members, non-teaching personnel, and students. The sample size for each group of respondents was one-third of their population. The differences in their responses were analyzed through weighted means and group means compared pairwise using Tukey’s honest significance difference (HSD) value. The analysis revealed that the stakeholders were of the same perception that the institutional sustainability attributes on relations with the community for the university were program-relevant, well-funded, and well participated.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132171316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

(APSA) was formed in 1987 in response to the assessment and testing needs of the Philippine industry in assessing the abilities and personalities of Asian workers. Academic performance is measured and premised on several components per learning area, namely written work (40%), performance tasks (30%), and periodic examinations (30%). The main purpose of the study was to determine the APSA results in Mathematics and English in relation to the academic performance of Kindergarten 2 pupils of the University of Bohol - Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center (UB-VDTALC) for School Years 2013-2014, 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. The study utilized a purposive complete enumeration design using documentary analysis of existing records of the pupils’ academic performance as reflected in Form 137 and APSA results in the learning areas of Mathematics and English for the said timeframe. The resultant data were analyzed using frequency and percentages, and statistical treatments such as Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Analysis of Variance. A high positive correlation was seen between academic performance and APSA results in English for three consecutive school years. Math performance in both APSA and academics were significantly correlated. The performance of pupils in the learning competencies does not significantly vary because the ratings in the three school years were almost the same in both English and Mathematics.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126361759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to determine how mathematics self-efficacy and anxiety affect academic performance. The researchers used the descriptive-normative survey and documentary analysis of existing records with the stakeholders, the Grade 7 students. Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product-Moment Coefficient of Correlation, t-test, and Chi-Square. Results showed that students had an average level of mathematics self-efficacy regarding understanding and applying the concepts of the subject. However, they also had high anxiety when working with Mathematics tasks or less confidence in achieving high marks or grades. The study concluded that the higher the students’ level of Mathematics self-efficacy, the lower their level of Mathematics anxiety. Conversely, the higher the students’ level of self-efficacy and the lower their mathematical anxiety, the higher their academic performance. It implied that education programs addressing the enhancement of Mathematics self-efficacy and reducing Mathematics anxiety among students would not only reshape their perception of the subject’s difficulty but also improve their academic performance as they move up to the secondary level.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"2 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125340944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
