The Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) evaluated the institutional sustainability of schools by looking into the learning resources and support structures, and management of resources. Educational institutions borrowed from business sectors the model of value enhancement through effectiveness and efficiency to produce quality graduates and programs. This study assessed the sufficiency of organizational resources in the University of Bohol (UB) in its continual quest for educational leadership being Bohol’s first university. The researcher formulated survey questions adapted from core indicators of key result areas of the CHEd Institutional Sustainability Assessment (ISA) and the Institutional Quality Assurance Monitoring Evaluation (IQuAME) Self Evaluation Documents (SED). Respondents for the study were selected through stratified random sampling from 4 distinct UB groups: administrators, faculty members, non-teaching personnel, and students. The group responses were analyzed for differences in the means through weighted means. The study revealed the sufficiency of organizational resources of UB in terms of resource utilization, faculty, physical structures, laboratories, libraries, and IT facilities. The findings warrant the conclusion that the necessary quality processes are present in UB and are sufficiently robust at the institutional level, thus, enabling the institution to deliver quality teaching-learning outcomes.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"82 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120887336","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study identified the IQ of high school students of the UB- VD ALC and its relevance to the teaching-learning process. The researcher used OLSAT designed to measure verbal and non-verbal skills. The study utilized qualitative-quantitative descriptive research involving 177 students drawn by universal sampling. Results showed that the Second Year level has the most number of students whose IQ is Below Average, 5 comprising 10% of the population. In addition, most Second Year students had an Average IQ and had a total frequency of 37 (71%) compared to the rest of the year levels. The Fourth Year level embraced the highest number of Above Average students, 47% with a frequency of 17. In general, 7% or 13 students out of 177 total high school population had Below Average IQ levels while 110 students (62%) were on Average, and finally, 54 of them (31%) were Above Average. The classification of IQ among the students at all levels will be provided to the curriculum developers to enhance the teaching-learning experience of the students.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123657586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to assess the school readiness of its current pre-elementary graders and validate how effective the implementation of its curriculum is. The study is descriptive by nature as it sought to describe the present status of the incoming grade 1 pupil of UB, University Grade School. To ensure reliability and validity in the measurements, the researcher made use of the standard competencies for the school readiness assessment from the Department of Education and formulated questions based on those skills and competencies. One-sample t-test of significant difference – for comparing the 1st and 2nd readiness assessment of the respondents and Pearson Product-moment of Correlation as statistical treatments for testing the possible correlation between the academic performance and the readiness assessment scores of the respondents. The results show a higher percentage of respondents are under proficient and advanced levels of proficiency, Pearson r shows that the academic performance and school readiness assessment results were correlated and that the first and second readiness assessment had no significant difference. It can be inferred that the assessment tool, as well as the process of conducting the test, were very reliable for it shows consistent results.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124393754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study is to provide knowledge of the sexual and non-sexual risk-taking tendencies among young people of the University of Bohol, the School Year 2012-2013. A descriptive survey method was formulated to obtain quantitative measures of the background and behavior of young people in the study area with the aid of a questionnaire that made use of a modified version of the Young Adult Fertility and Sexuality Study survey, checklist, and open-ended questionnaire were also utilized. Results were tabulated and analyzed utilizing frequencies, percentages, and cross-tabulations. Among the sexual and non-sexual risk-taking behaviors, engagement in drinking got the highest number, followed by smoking, engagement in pre-marital sex without the use of contraception and very few numbers claimed to misuse drugs. This institutional research is one of the answers to the university’s unceasing quest in providing students with an education that not just develops a strong foundation of knowledge but also equips them with the skills needed in honing proactive citizens, who are participative in addressing and defining concerns of the times.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131074463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The particular study looked into gender mainstreaming and gender statistics in the whole organization of the University of Bohol and was initiated to answer the need to establish gender-sensitive statistics within the organization. It aimed to reflect the situation of women and men within the university and opened opportunities to understand issues specific to women and men using a gender lens. A desk review on gender-related policies and came up with sex disaggregation of data within the university. It qualitatively probed and determined that gender-fair policies are translated into programs and are practiced at all levels of the university. Furthermore, the gender analysis showed more women than men held top and middle managerial positions in the university and so with student leaders. This is also true for enrollees on different courses, women outnumbered men in the majority of courses except for CET Management, Criminology, and CAFA. Hopefully, recommendations will be drawn to guide appropriate actions as Gender and Development programs are works in progress. This will enhance the university’s direction and commitment to moving towards full-blown implementation of gender mainstreaming in the whole organization.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123003468","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
