{"title":"Generating and Improving a Dataset of Masked Faces Using Data Augmentation","authors":"Waleed Ayad, Siraj Qays, Ali Al-Naji","doi":"10.51173/jt.v5i2.1140","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.51173/jt.v5i2.1140","url":null,"abstract":"Before the spread of the COVID-19 virus in 2020, modern face recognition systems performed excellently, but then the wearing of masks was imposed by countries on their population, which led to a noteworthy decrease in the discriminatory ability of those systems, where they had been trained on large-scale datasets of unmasked faces and not available large-scale masked faces datasets that time. To contribute to addressing the shortage of large-scale data sets that consist of people wearing masks, a developed method has been presented to create simulated masks and overlay them on faces in two main steps. The first step was to detect, align and crop the faces of unmasked faces datasets in a dataset and then apply simulated masks on the faces utilizing the dlib-ml library. This method was used to generate a dataset for masked faces (CASIA-mask). The second step used five techniques of data augmentation with the generated dataset. To evaluate the masked dataset and data augmentation, an accuracy of 96.4% was achieved by training one of the latest and most important facial recognition systems, FaceNet, on the masked dataset. Therefore, it's essential for WSNs to prolong the sensor node's lifespan. The most crucial component in the sensor nodes is the energy from the battery, determining how long the WSN will last. Energy saving is essential since there is a limited battery powering the sensor nodes. Energy is needed at sensor nodes for a variety of operations, including data receipt and transmission, data processing, sensing, and other operations. However, data processing uses substantially less energy than data transmission, which has the highest energy consumption of all of them. As a result, reducing the spacing between the base station (BS) and the sensor node will result in reducing the distance that the data travels on its way to the BS, which will help conserve energy and increase the lifespan of WSNs. In this research, two methods that operate at the sensor node level are proposed: clustering and data aggregation. K-means clustering and Extrema Point (EP) data aggregation. The proposed approaches operate in three steps periodically: data collection, data aggregation, and data transmission. By aggregating duplicated data before transmitting, it to the base station (BS), these methods aim to shorten the distance between sensor nodes and the base station as well as the amount of transmitted data, while maintaining a reasonable level of accuracy for the data received at the BS or Cluster Head (CH). The efficiency of the proposed strategies is evaluated by extensive simulated experiments. This proposed antenna has six antenna elements that can operate in dual band sub-6 GHz for 5G band spectrums at 3.42–3.77 GHz and at 5.30–5.63 GHz. Every antenna element has an L-shaped slot in the ground fed by the same feedline that support the matching of the F-shaped microstrip lines. Important features of the anticipated layout are examined. It provides excellent efficiency at the operation band, appropriate isolation, adequate radiation coverage, and good S-parameters. Ant 3's provided the maximum return loss at 3.6 GHz which is -35 dB, whereas Ant 5 and Ant 6 provide the highest return losses at 5.4 GHz which is -38dB of the suggested dual-band frequency of 5G smartphones. To validate the exactness of the constructed MIMO antenna performances, the sample prototyping and experimentally measured outcomes were carried out in the Lab. Both simulated and measure result assessments revealed an extremely excellent understanding of both results. satisfactory input impedance and mutual coupling characteristics. A hybrid joint of dissimilar material was accomplished by a hot press bonding process. During the joining process, three different parameters of process were used: processing temperature of 175, 170 and 165°C, processing pressure of 3, 6 and 9 bar and time of 1.5, 3 and 4.5 min. The surface of stainless steel was prepared and treated by a mechanical treatment (surface grinding) to improve the wettability to increase the shear strength. A shear tensile, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) tests were used to investigate and examine the joint (bounding) specimens. The Minitab program was used to analyze the effect of the parameters of the joining process on the joint properties. The maximum and minimum values of shear force are exhibited at a processing temperature of 165°C, applied pressure of 6 bars and processing time of 1.5 minutes; the minimum shear force was found to be 675 N, while the maximum shear force was 2182 N at a processing temperature of 175°C, applied pressure of 6 bars and processing time of 3 minutes. The tested joints failed by an interfacial shear and necking in the polymer side with a ductile fracture. The joining process occurred through a mechanical interlocking between the molten polymer and the treated surface of the steel specimen. Recently, child kidnapping has increased by a large percentage, some children have been found, and some children have not found yet. This paper proposes an indoor localization system based on ZigBee wireless sensor network (WSN) and Backpropagation Artificial Neural Network (BP-ANN) to locate the child in an indoor environment. Several ANN topologies were investigated to select the best one with minimum tracking or localization error. The Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) was collected from four ZigBee XBee S2C anchor nodes by the mobile node carried by the child in an indoor area of 32m × 32m. The RSSI was collected from 127 test points inside the tested area. The measured RSSI was used to train, test, and validate the performance of BP-ANN to determine the two dimensions (2D) of the target child’s location. Different topologies of ANN have been examined for training, testing, and validation which are 5-5, 10-10, 15-15, and 20-20 neurons in the hidden layer. The findings indicate that the 20-20 ANN topology can achieve higher accuracy than other topologies.
