One of the solutions to the better management of wireless resources is scheduling. Scheduling is the process by which different users of a system get the access of the shared resource. These shared resources in the system are always limited as compared to the increase number of users accessing the system. At this point scheduling provides means to fair access for different users. In this paper we would like to analyze a scheduling scheme called channel dependent scheduling. Our emphasis would be on how this scheduling is done in the current wireless technologies, with a brief description of the physical layer of these technologies. We would also discuss some of the channel dependent scheduling algorithms proposed for the future wireless technologies such as MANETs (Mobile Adhoc Networks).","PeriodicalId":396084,"journal":{"name":"2012 15th International Multitopic Conference (INMIC)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114413880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, WMSNs have strict restraints with respect to available resources in terms of bandwidth, energy and processing capacities of sensor nodes. So, in place of a stand alone video sensor node, it is suitable to use multiple video sensors which operate the acquired information locally and intercommunicate with each other to draw out the crucial data and send it to the sink. Thus, in-network collaborative processing renders solutions to multimedia applications with decreased processing power, data delivery response time and energy consumption. In this paper, we present a novel multipath construction scheme which builds disjoint, minimum hop and energy efficient multiple paths between base station and video sensor nodes and between different video sensor nodes for in-network collaborative processing. On demand path construction priorities can be assigned according to the situation. Performance evaluation of our suggested path construction scheme demonstrates its effectivity for collaborative video sensor networks.","PeriodicalId":396084,"journal":{"name":"2012 15th International Multitopic Conference (INMIC)","volume":"123 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116144335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To implement this concept, an antenna is required to capture RF and microwave frequencies of GSM and WiFi signals in the surrounding. Designing an antenna is the focal point in realization of wireless cellular charging device. RF signals cannot be used to drive a load such as battery of a mobile phone, therefore rectification and a boost up is required done in the third phase which is Voltage Boosting and Rectification. A complete implemented system is being proposed in this paper with successful demonstration of using GSM-900 and GSM-1800 signals for charging a cellular phone. The research paper is a contribution towards the concept of wireless energy transmission at the same time it proves the idea of collecting and converting GSM and WiFi signals, to drive our low power consuming devices, from Radio towers and other wireless transceivers that is of no use otherwise.","PeriodicalId":396084,"journal":{"name":"2012 15th International Multitopic Conference (INMIC)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126395695","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

CubeSat has different modules and Power Management Tile (PMT) is the fundamental one. We designed Power Management Tile for the CubeSats, called CubePMT. It comprises of power supply, housekeeping and attitude sensors, on-board processor and attitude actuator. CubeSat requires precise and efficient attitude actuators subsystem. Magnetorquer coil is the most essential element of the attitude actuator subsystem. It generates magnetic field which interacts with the earth magnetic field and provides torque to the satellite. The goal of this work is to provide CubeSat with a magnetorquer coil which has small dimensions, less weight and low heat generation inside PCB. It should be reconfigurable and occupy no extra space on the spacecraft. It is integrated inside PCB four internal layers. Magnetorquer coil in each layer is treated as individual coil and is attached through switches. Changing the arrangements of these switches, one can use either a single coil, two, three or four coils in series or in parallel. This reconfigurable design gives a freedom in generating any amount of dipole moment and control power dissipation and heat generation inside the CubePMT module.","PeriodicalId":396084,"journal":{"name":"2012 15th International Multitopic Conference (INMIC)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121614459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The equalizer uses non-linear mapping of Gaussian radial basis function (RBF) to overcome the impairments when a binary antipodal signal is transmitted through the nonlinear recursive channel. The Gaussian RBF based tapped delay line (TDL) neural network, used as channel equalizer, is first given a training sequence to compute the centers in an unsupervised manner using K-means clustering algorithm. The weights of the neural network are then adaptively adjusted using recursive least square (RLS) algorithm. The performance of the trained equalizer has been tested to compute the bit error rate (BER) at various SNR levels and for different number of hidden neurons. Finally the proposed equalizer is compared with perceptron classifier and back propagation neural networks.","PeriodicalId":396084,"journal":{"name":"2012 15th International Multitopic Conference (INMIC)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130468259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is always a need to measure these harmonics for power quality assessment and in cases for mitigating these harmonics. The problem of precision measurement becomes irksome because of effects of frequency deviation. Over the course of time a whole slew of digital signal processing algorithms have been proposed to accurately analyze harmonics in scenarios of frequency deviation but they come with a much increased cost in computational complexity. These computational requirements make them impractical for use in real-time monitoring systems. A computationally complex but highly precise algorithm has been selected for integration into real-time harmonic analysis systems. Due to its complexity it owes its suitability only in offline harmonic analysis system. We have proposed a scheme to realize this algorithm in a manner so that it meets real-time constraints. We have partitioned the algorithm using a Hardware/Software (HW/SW) Co-Design methodology to optimize performance and resource utilization. The design fits well onto low cost Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) which have moderate resource count. The computational time advantage achieved by our scheme is compared with an embedded software implementation and performance gain has been presented.","PeriodicalId":396084,"journal":{"name":"2012 15th International Multitopic Conference (INMIC)","volume":"207 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133929748","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The scope of Cluster is relatively narrow compared to Grid, as Clusters are homogeneous while Grids are heterogeneous. Another emerging area in High Performance Computing (HPC) is Cloud computing that can be considered as a further extension of Grid computing. Apart from other issues that exist in Clusters, Grids and Clouds, there is one common problem or issue that is available in all of them and that is Fault Tolerance and Handling. Fault Tolerance is the technique or the set of techniques that are used when different types of Hardware, Software, Network and other types of problems come during the handling and execution of Clusters, Grids and Clouds. In this research we have focused on fault identification and forecasting from Clusters point of view and have tried to establish a technique that forecasts the faults in Clusters based environments on the basis of temperature. Nodes keep on receiving and monitoring the temperature of the attached devices from temperature sensor and check the temperature threshold values of those devices. If the temperature threshold value of devices is within the range than we place/rate the machine in Green zone. Similarly if temperatures are approaching threshold values then we place the machines in Orange zone that represents that machine may or may not crash on the basis of temperature. Similarly when the devices have crossed the threshold values of the temperature then we place the machine in Red zone that represents that machine is likely to fail due to the failure of one or more hardware devices any time.","PeriodicalId":396084,"journal":{"name":"2012 15th International Multitopic Conference (INMIC)","volume":"159 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132068051","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

BGP is used to disseminate reachability information and establishing path between autonomous systems. Each autonomous system is allowed to select a single route to a destination and then export the selected route to its neighbors. The selection of single best route imposes restrictions on the use of alternative paths during interdomain link failure and thus, incurred packet loss. Packet loss still occurs even when multiple paths exist between source and destination but these paths have not been utilized. To minimize the packet loss, when multiple paths exist, multipath routing techniques are introduced. Multipath routing techniques ensure the use of alternative paths on link failure. It computes set of paths which can be used when primary path is not available and it also provides a way to transit domains to have control over the traffic flow. This can be achieved by little modification to current BGP. This paper highlights different multipath routing techniques and also discusses the overhead incurred by each of them.","PeriodicalId":396084,"journal":{"name":"2012 15th International Multitopic Conference (INMIC)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116792943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A lot of work has been done especially in the field of long distance wireless communication but one fundamental problem that still persist is the implementation of land based protocols over the wireless links like TCP that was originally made for terrestrial based networks, when applied to long distance wireless links like satellite, performs poorly due to long RTT's and high error pronged environment. One of the techniques to improve TCP performance in long distance wireless networks is to use the PEP (performance enhancing proxy) but it cannot operate with IPsec (well-known internet layer security protocol) as it hides the information that the PEP requires. In my work I have implemented an application specific PEP and a separate minimum encryption procedure that will ensure additional security as the IPsec is implemented in a cautious mode. As a result PEP and IPsec can work simultaneously with requisite amount of security with minimum overheads. Simulations are performed in OPNET.","PeriodicalId":396084,"journal":{"name":"2012 15th International Multitopic Conference (INMIC)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121763982","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The heterogeneity and complexity of IMS network will bring a number of challenges to the integration of products in mutli-vendor and multi-protocol environment. Faults in a large, multi-technology and complex network are unavoidable, but quick detection and identification can significantly improve network reliability and ensure robustness. Fault localization is the central aspect of network fault management, is a process of identifying the exact source of failure. In this paper, we overview the challenges involve for fault management in the complex, heterogeneous IMS network. The paper also proposes a distributed, multi layered, integrated and proactive fault localization system for IMS, which is based on probabilistic graphical model and can be easily integrated with eTOM's management framework.","PeriodicalId":396084,"journal":{"name":"2012 15th International Multitopic Conference (INMIC)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123506186","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
