In the present work, we report <sup>29</sup>Si solid state NMR studies of several doped lanthanum apatite silicates prepared by hydrothermal method. For the undoped apatite La<inf>9.33</inf>Si<inf>6</inf>O<inf>26</inf> three peaks are observed at chemical shifts of ∼−77.8, −80.5 and −82.5 ppm, and doped apatite two peaks are observed at chemical shifts of ∼−77 and 78–80.5 ppm, apatite with the more high conductivity show more complex Si NMR spectra. That is indicating a correlation between the silicon environment and the observed conductivity.","PeriodicalId":395673,"journal":{"name":"2011 2nd International Conference on Instrumentation, Communications, Information Technology, and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124180377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Almost all EIT image reconstruction problems are ill-posed. We employ the well-known Tikhonov regularization method to solve the ill-posed problem. We introduce a stabilizing function with a regularization parameter to the objective function. By minimizing the objective function, we obtain a regularized resistivity update equation. The problem is how to select a proper regularization parameter in order to find the solution. This study proposed a selection rule of parameter based on the fuzzy logic. To illustrate the proposed method, we present numerically the image reconstruction using artificially generated data.","PeriodicalId":395673,"journal":{"name":"2011 2nd International Conference on Instrumentation, Communications, Information Technology, and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124341026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mean Absolute Value (MAV) method is used to estimate the average of muscle's force which correlates with its sEMG voltage amplitude. As a result, this estimating value controls box in virtual world as biofeedback in three classes; rest condition, lifted arm without load, and lifted arm with load. From this point, bicep brachii's force value can be estimated by using its sEMG voltage amplitude in particular range.","PeriodicalId":395673,"journal":{"name":"2011 2nd International Conference on Instrumentation, Communications, Information Technology, and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130635700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to destroy HIV, the outer membrane must be handled first. A proteolytic enzyme called bromelain has been proven to destroy HIV by showing negative result on rapid HIV-strip test. The current research is dealing with lipozyme. This enzyme is a fat-digesting enzyme that helps digestion and absorption of nutrients. Two types of lypozymes are used in this research, lipase and phospholipase. Lipase helps the catalysis of triglycerides while phospholipase catalyses the degradation of phospholipids. The research was done by incubating HIV-positive serum at 37°C with various enzymes: bromelain from pineapple stem, lipase from Candida rugosa, and phospholipase from rat liver mitochondria. The experiment result shows that lipase boosts up the bromelain's activity slightly while rat liver mitochondria are more likely to inhibit the activity of bromelain.","PeriodicalId":395673,"journal":{"name":"2011 2nd International Conference on Instrumentation, Communications, Information Technology, and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117192694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been used in medical as therapeutic agents and supplements, and also known to have immunomodulatory function. However, as protease, it is concerned that bromelain will affect the mammalian cells that have proteins on their surfaces. The objective of this research was to find out the effect of bromelain on mammalian cells. In order to do so, mammalian cell culture was utilized with MT-2 cells (a T cell lymphocyte) and bromelain concentrations in culture medium were 25mg/ml, 20mg/ml, 10mg/ml, 5mg/ml, and 1 mg/ml, and the evaluation of cells was using MTT assay (three MTT assays). The high concentrations resulted in inhibition more than 50%. The concentration of 5 mg/ml from second and third assay had inhibition around 50% and 1 mg/ml had no inhibition and in turn had very good viability. Therefore, this research showed that bromelain concentration of 1 mg/ml to below 5 mg/ml (specific activity 3.001 U/mg) was safe for the MT-2 cells.","PeriodicalId":395673,"journal":{"name":"2011 2nd International Conference on Instrumentation, Communications, Information Technology, and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134086393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, cerebral aneurysm detection method is still being done manually by visually observing 2D or 3D medical images (CTA). The main purpose of this paper is to design a method of cerebral aneurysm detection and classify different vascular geometry with color indicator. The method developed was based on curvature analysis of wall vasculatures model that were reconstructed from 3D CTA images. The curvature shape index defined as I=(K1+K2)/K1 where K1 and K2 are the main curvature of vascular model then used as the base of vascular coloring system. Results showed that the shape index is able to differentiate different parts of vasculature model and detect the present of an aneurysm.","PeriodicalId":395673,"journal":{"name":"2011 2nd International Conference on Instrumentation, Communications, Information Technology, and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123787829","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
