Gamification, a term coined by Nick Pelling in 2002 is the concept of applying game elements and game mechanics in a non-game situation in hope of changing a person’s behaviour. The use of gamification in the learning environment by previous researchers had shown the possibility of overcoming such problems. However, with the failure of technological infrastructure in the context of Malaysia, multiple dilemmas arise. This study is done by interviewing 30 university students from the School of Educational Studies and the analysation of data is done using an inductive approach of thematic analysis. The study further discussed the dilemma faced by educators from the perspectives of students. Thus, hoping to provide certain new insight to educators and other researchers.","PeriodicalId":395670,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 12th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123846090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The occurrence of cycle slips will cause the pseudorange or carrier phase to jump, making the positioning accuracy centimeter-level or even decimeter-level errors, which cannot meet the requirements of high-precision positioning. In this paper, an improved pseudorange-carrier phase combination cycle slip detection method based on single frequency receiver is proposed to deals with the problem of small cycle slip. The proposed method uses integral doppler observations to smooth the pseudo-range observations, and predicts the cycle slip constructed by the traditional pseudo-range phase combination method through the gray Verhulst Markov dynamic model. Numerical experiments show that the cycle slip detection value with an amplitude 2 times larger than the threshold are successfully identified when the cycle slip is as small as one week. This means that the proposed method can effectively detect small cycle slip.","PeriodicalId":395670,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 12th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115834738","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In response to that, higher education institutions have begun to provide programming courses to non-computer science students. Learning programming requires a comprehensive teaching approach to generate students’ logical, creative and critical thinking. Based on past related studies, several factors have been identified to contribute to difficulties in learning computer programming including educators, students' abilities and programming nature. This paper focuses on these three factors and surveys to discover more about how these factors influence non-computer science students' ability to learn computer programming. An online survey was conducted on engineering students who have taken programming courses, which amounted to 241 students in this study. The analysis was applied to generally examine these three factors that influence students in learning programming subjects. Results showed that although students find it difficult to learn programming, most of them have no critical issues with their learning process. With these findings, it is hoped that this study can be used to improve teaching methods for programming courses to increase students' understanding and interest in the subject.","PeriodicalId":395670,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 12th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116014348","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The evaluation of the colour used to classify tomatoes is very important, and the current methods of identifying and determining tomato varieties are still manual and prone to human error. The ability to automate tomato grading helps the food industry determine colour grades during the evaluation phase. Therefore, Computer Vision (CV) and Deep Neural Network (DNN) are utilised to grade tomatoes by determining their maturity colour. Three hundred tomatoes were selected and its maturity level are assigned by expertise. The tomato images are captured, processed and passed to the DNN classifier to determine the tomato grade. The proposed DNN classifier achieved the mAP percentage of 95.52%. This shows that the computer vision built into the DNN algorithm can provide an efficient implementation for predicting tomato grade.","PeriodicalId":395670,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 12th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122535796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a video-based setting, an object tracking algorithm aims to correlate the object of interest throughout the frames by building the movement trajectory. The most popular sensing input to the tracking algorithm is the RGB channels, yet, it performs relatively poor in low lighting surroundings, especially if the object’s appearance is similar appearance to the background. Therefore, multi-modal input through a combination of RGB and thermal images has been explored to overcome the weakness of a single modality input. For a tracker that is based on the scoring output of convolutional neural networks, pre-trained weights are usually used to represent the feature extraction module. It is the norm that the weights in convolutional layers are frozen, while the parameters fitting is only done in the fully connected layers. Since the weights are pre-trained, the optimal number of channels is only three, which poses a problem for a tracker with RGB-Thermal input. Two schemes have been devised in this work, either to slice the pre-trained weights to accommodate an additional thermal channel, or to duplicate the thermal channel into a three-channel format. Hence, the performance of 4D and 6D inputs are tested on three state-of-the-art trackers, which are MDNet, TCNN, and MMCNN. The best performance result was produced by TCNN-4D with an expected average overlap of 0.2534, accuracy of 0.5963, and reliability of 0.9329. The results indicate that an optimized slicing method to select the best pre-trained weights will produce a significant tracking improvement even if fewer input channels are used. Fish farming in large tanks is getting more attention as this can be done anywhere without searching for sea, river and pond areas. However, the water quality in the rearing tank must be monitored and controlled continuously, which causes problems because maintaining the water quality requires expertise and is time-consuming. This paper proposes an automated water quality control system consisting of various sensors, microcontrollers, servers and mobile applications that continuously monitor and control water quality. Water quality parameters are measured using sensors, and data is sent to the microcontroller. The microcontroller processes the received data simultaneously, sends it to the server, and activates the actuator based on the situation. Data on the server can be monitored and controlled by a mobile application. The system achieves an excellent real-time performance and high practicability in the future to encourage technological advancement in the aquaculture industry.","PeriodicalId":395670,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE 12th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129809367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
