This paper presents the results of a survey study that explored students with disabilities’ experiences of transfer between PSE institutions in Canada. Data was collected using a survey questionnaire developed by the research team. Rating questions were analyzed using descriptive data. Students also answered open-ended questions that were analyzed using a qualitative content analysis approach. Sixty-nine of the 248 survey responses received indicated involvement in transfer between PSE institutions, mostly college to university. Four out of 5 of the transfer students self-identified as having psychiatric and mental health disabilities (e.g., anxiety, depression). Perceptions and experiences among successful and non-successful transfer students were mixed. Fully one-third of transfer students indicated that they felt that college-university transfer may be a better route for PSE for students with disabilities than going straight to university. Barriers to college-university transfer, among others, included a lack of information about who can assist with the process (62.5%) and inadequate information about disabilities and accommodation (56.3%). The results of this snapshot of PSE students with disabilities’ perceptions of college-university transfer may inform the design of evidence-based PSE transition interventions for this population. Additionally, given the under-representation of Indigenous and other racialized students in PSE, there is merit in further investigation focusing on their transfer experiences.","PeriodicalId":39544,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Security and Networks","volume":"4 1","pages":"25"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73316190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also examines international evidence of factors which contribute to such stress. Professional opinion, reports, qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research is thematically presented to indicate the wide range of educational, social, environmental, intrapersonal and interpersonal variables that contribute to pre-registration nursing student stress. Congruent with the principles of Critical Realism, the paper also identifies several emerging fields associated with student nurse stressors that are worthy of further investigation due to an apparent paucity of published work. Finally, the authors briefly highlight their own research activity currently underway to extend the body of knowledge in these areas and in so doing seek to help address student retention issues within nursing.","PeriodicalId":39544,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Security and Networks","volume":"3 1","pages":"28"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89974687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are minimal options for relieving the pain associated with breast engorgement. Therefore, further study of strategies to achieve successful pain relief is crucial to promoting progress in breastfeeding. This study was conducted to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of compressed cold cabbage leaves versus hot compresses among postnatal mothers in relieving breast engorgement. Αn interventional quasi-experimental study design used to conduct this study. The study was carried out in the postnatal wards of Ismailia & port-Said general hospitals, and Suez Canal University Hospital. Α convenient sample study was 60 breast-engorgement postnatal mothers. Tools of data collection were; an interviewing questionnaire sheet included socio-demographic and obstetrical data, Visual Analogue Scale, and Six-point engorgement scale. The results showed that before the intervention, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups linked to breast engorgement symptoms & body temperature. But body temperature, scores of breast engorgement and pain were statistically significant differentiated between the two groups’ pre and post-intervention. Significant improvement in the breast engorgement and pain scales after the intervention was found, ( p < 0.001). In conclusion, this study revealed that hot compresses and cabbage leaves compresses, as well, for relieving breast engorgement; are time-efficient and easy to perform. However, hot compresses are better than compresses of raw cabbage leaves to minimize discomfort among postnatal mothers and to alleviate breast engorgement. Additional randomized controlled trials with potential placebo treatment should be performed to elucidate the unspecific effects of the application of hot compress and cold Cabbage leaves.","PeriodicalId":39544,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Security and Networks","volume":"2 1","pages":"7"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74234703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, the environmental parameters of RSSI ranging are modified by the least square method to eliminate the influence of various interferences on the measured data. The exponential factor and the modified RSSI value are directly calculated to determine the coordinates of the unknown node. The exponential factor is optimised by an improved quantum particle swarm optimisation algorithm based on the criterion of minimum root mean square error. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the influence of complex environment factors in the positioning process and has the better positioning accuracy than the traditional method, which meets requirements of personnel location precision in underground long-distance roadway.","PeriodicalId":39544,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Security and Networks","volume":"87 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81277744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The traditional capacitance method has many limitations in detecting the corrosion of the bars, such as low sensitivity, short lifespan and small test range. Therefore, an interdigital capacitive corrosion sensor is designed based on the capacitive method, and a wireless corrosion monitoring system for reinforcing steel bars in concrete is established based on the ZigBee wireless sensor network technology. The data processing unit, wireless communication unit, data acquisition unit, voltage conversion unit and serial communication unit are designed for terminal nodes and the coordinator node in the system. Moreover, a host computer interface is developed with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, which can realise real-time display and query of monitoring information. The experimental results show that the system can effectively monitor the corrosion of reinforcing steel bars in concrete, which can provide a reliable basis for timely and effective maintenance.","PeriodicalId":39544,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Security and Networks","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74708799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
