Three important issues related to the multi robot formation namely distributed formation control framework based on switching control strategy, dynamic role switching algorithm and real time implementations are investigated. This switching control strategy combines together formation planning, navigation and active obstacle avoidance in a layered control framework composed of functional behaviors based on the relative motion states of the robots employed in the group. Dynamic role switching mechanism through the exchange of leadership is also incorporated in this work to tackle the problem of obstacle avoidance in the follower path. The proposed approach is validated through state based laboratory experiments using commercially available robot research platforms and the results obtained are discussed.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"129 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133752248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

K clusters are created using the simple K -means clustering algorithm. The partitions are recomputed using the nested subspacing concept. Mahalanobis distance based measure is used for grouping the image patterns and recognizing the vehicles. The performance of the proposed vehicle detection scheme is compared with that of Multi-Clustered Modified Quadratic Discriminant Function (MC-MQDF) method of preceding vehicle detection. Experimental results prove that the proposed scheme is more suitable for a reliable driver assistance system.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134127515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It stores all training patterns and searches to find k nearest neighbors of the given test pattern. Some fundamental improvements to k-NNC are (i) weighted k-nearest neighbor classifier (wk-NNC) where a weight to each of the neighbors is given and is used in the classification, (ii) to use a bootstrapped training set instead of the given training set, etc. Hamamoto et. al. [1] has given a bootstrapping method, where a training pattern is replaced by a weighted mean of a few of its neighbors from its own class of training patterns. It is shown to improve the classification accuracy in most of the cases. The time to create the bootstrapped set is O(n2) where n is the number of training patterns. This paper presents a novel improvement to the k-NNC called k-Nearest Neighbor Mean Classifier (k-NNMC). k-NNMC finds k nearest neighbors for each class of training patterns separately, and finds means for each of these k neighbors (class-wise). Classification is done according to the nearest mean pattern. It is shown experimentally using several standard data-sets that the proposed classifier shows better classification accuracy over k-NNC, wk-NNC and k-NNC using Hamamoto's bootstrapped training set. Further, the proposed method does not have a design phase as the Hamamoto's method, and this is suitable for parallel implementations which can be coupled with any indexing and space reduction methods easily. It is a suitable method to be used in data mining applications.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133108299","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Differential Evolution is a stochastic, population based optimization search strategy and uses three typical operators, mutation, crossover and selection, to search the solution space. An initial population is created and a new generation is generated by applying the operators until the solution is obtained. The results of Differential Evolution are compared with the results of Genetic Algorithm (GA) for cryptanalysis of the knapsack cipher. Experimental results show that cryptanalysis of Merkle Hellman Knapsack cipher using Differential Evolution is a better technique than using Genetic Algorithm for this purpose.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123506733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When fault occurs, in case of non-automated and fully automated systems the restoration takes place in single stage whereas in partially automated systems it will be in two- stages. In a two- stage restoration strategy, a first stage quickly restores a limited set of customers using automated switches and at a later stage some other customers are restored by using manual switches. Feeder automation requires a considerable expenditure and therefore at present many utilities are looking for partial automation of feeders which require the concept of two- stage restoration. In the conventional SCADA system, the control decision is taken manually on the basis of experience and the available real time data. It is then executed through the man machine interface. On the other hand, computer based control decisions are taken in the DA system and these control decisions are executed in either automatic mode or in semi-automatic mode through human intervention The reliability indices of RBTS BUS-2 are evaluated for different six cases and the results are compared","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130406979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It really is not the fact because as the technology grows with new ideas, fitting expectations in the antenna design are always coming up. In the past, it followed a simple method based on some Euclidean geometry comparatively. However, the wide-spoken attractive fractal antennas do not follow this design. Their complex structure is built up through replication of a base shape. In this paper, the performances of a newly shaped fractal structures have been investigated using Ansoft HFSS 3D electromagnetic simulation tool. The design was carried out using FR4 as the substrate and copper as antenna material. The designed antennas resonate at multiple frequencies with very low return loss and VWSR values. The self-similarity and space filling properties of fractals have been exploited to achieve radiation in C, J and X band regions.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127116920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the current is the primary quantity to get affected by the non uniform air gap flux, Motor Current Signature Analysis is preferred as compared to vibration analysis for mixed eccentricity fault detection in an induction motor. In this paper, Power Spectral Density analysis is performed on the stator current data samples obtained from modeling and simulation of the induction motor. An Eccentricity Severity Factor is defined and is shown that this factor increases with increase of air gap eccentricity in the machine. Hence it can be used as a measure to assess the degree of eccentricity in the machine.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127524440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An efficient bus protocol for the core communication between IP block is OCP. Open Core Protocol (OCP) defines the only non-proprietary, openly licensed, core centric protocol with high-performance, bus-independent interface between IP cores that reduces design time, design risk, and manufacturing costs and promote IP core reusability for SOC designs. Bus Bridge interconnects other bus standard to OCP. I2C is a simple bi-directional two wire bus for efficient inter IC control. This paper focus on the design and implementation of Bus Bridge using OCP master and I2C slave protocol. The power reduction using Multi voltage design is the important feature of the paper. The developed FSM's for OCP and I2C were implemented in VHDL and the Synthesis is done using Xilinx ISE 10.1 and Synopsys ASIC synthesis tool design compiler.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128865427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This estimator is known as Complex H∞ filter which is applied to a noisy sinusoidal model. State Space modeling with two and three states is used for estimation of frequency in presence of white noise. Various simulation results for time varying frequency of the signal reveal significant improvement in noise rejection and accuracy. Comparison in performance between two and three states modeling is presented in terms of mean square error (MSE) under different SNR conditions reveal that two states modeling based on Hilbert transform performs better than three states modeling in a high noisy condition. Frequency estimation performance of the proposed filter is also being compared with Extended Complex Kalman Filter (ECKF) under same noisy condition in some simulation results.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130512536","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
