An injection locked oscillator (ILO) operating in 5.8GHz ISM band is developed to demonstrate the approach using hybrid integrated microwave circuit technique. The developed ILO showed the free-running performance with an output power of 2.67dBm at 5.8GHz, DC-to-RF efficiency of 26.6% and phase noise of -116.8dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset under dc bias of 1.881V and 3.69mA. Under the locked state by a 5.8GHz injection signal of -25dBm, the ILO acquired the output signal phase-shift of 180/spl deg/ with 27.67dB locking-gain by altering the dc bias. The experimental results shown the exact anti-phase output signals from the ILO are achievable in the frequency range from 5.795GHz to 5.805GHz by modulating the dc bias under the locked state by the corresponding locking signal of -25dBm. As a sequence, the ILO can function as a direct-conversion BPSK modulator.","PeriodicalId":393410,"journal":{"name":"ICMMT 4th International Conference on, Proceedings Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technology, 2004.","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121723304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The specific absorption rate (SAR) is initially calculated with the use of the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The temperature rises in the human head and brain are then calculated by substituting the SAR into the bio-heat equation. The steady-state maximum temperature rises in the head and brain are determined through linear extrapolation of the peak average SAR. The averaged 1 g peak SARs in the head model are 1.590 W/kg at 900 MHz and 1.515 W/kg at 1800 MHz. The maximum temperature rises are 0.160 /spl deg/C in the head and 0.054 /spl deg/C in the brain at 900 MHz and 0.124 /spl deg/C, 0.044 /spl deg/C at 1800 MHz. Computed results show higher temperature elevation is obtained at 900 MHz in comparison to 1800 MHz and temperature increases rapidly within 3 min of phone time. In addition, after 7-8 minutes of phone time it reaches about 90 % of steady-state value and the steady-state condition in 30 minutes.","PeriodicalId":393410,"journal":{"name":"ICMMT 4th International Conference on, Proceedings Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technology, 2004.","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131471694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
