In order to meet the needs of the patients around the clock, in the nursing profession, 24 hours of the day are usually covered by three 8-hour shifts. Nurses are one subgroup of the population who appear to be especially vulnerable to poor sleep. The aim of the study was to assess sleep hygiene practices and sleep quality among nursing officers. Methodology: A quantitative (non-experimental) research approach was adopted for the study with a descriptive survey design. The sample of the present study comprised of 100 nursing officers working in a selected hospital of Delhi. A Structured Rating Scale was used to assess the sleep hygiene practices and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to assess the sleep quality of nursing officers. The data gathered were analysed and interpreted using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The result of the study showed that majority of the nursing officers have poor sleep quality. Sleep hygiene practices of nursing officers were almost divided equally in fairly good and fairly poor categories. As sleep hygiene improved, sleep quality also was seen to improve. A negative correlation was seen between sleep quality and sleep hygiene practice. Conclusion: Finding of study will act as a catalyst to carry out more extensive research on a large population sample in various settings and also a reference material for researchers who are willing to conduct research in assessing sleep quality and sleep hygiene practice.","PeriodicalId":392369,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Nursing & Midwifery Research","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124265942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So it is important to pay attention to the safety and health of working pregnant women there. Marital satisfaction is one of the main characteristics of psychological health and one of the factors which can affect it, is occupation. The aim of this study was to compare marital satisfaction and marital coping style between working and non-working pregnant women. Material & Method: This is a descriptive comparative study with a sample size of 240 working and non-working pregnant women selected through purposive sampling technique and attending antenatal outpatient departments of government and private hospitals. Data were collected through Enrich marital satisfaction scale and Bowman marital coping inventory. Results: The marital satisfaction for working pregnant women was 165.1317.49 (government hospital) and 173.03 whereas for non-working it was 164.3815.91 and 169.7613 in government and private hospitals and the difference between the two groups was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Statistically significant differences were noted among the working and non-working pregnant women in terms of adopting coping style in the government hospital (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Results of this study show that working had positive effects on marital satisfaction and the decline in marital satisfaction of pregnant non-working women is due to low educational qualification of self and spouse and low family monthly income. Thus, marital counselling, as an important part of prenatal care, would be an effective step to enhance the mental health of pregnant women, and is hence recommended.","PeriodicalId":392369,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Nursing & Midwifery Research","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129988152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the many influences of social media is change in family relationships resulting from a decline in quality time spent with the family especially among youths including students. So the objective of the present study was to assess the effect of social media usage on family relationship. Method: A descriptive survey was conducted on 124 student nurses studying at Rufaida College of Nursing, selected by purposive sampling technique. Structured rating scale and Brief Family Relationship Scale were used to assess social media usage and family relationships of student nurses on three parameters, expressiveness, cohesion, and conflicts. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Linear correlation was used to find the correlation between social media usage and family relationship. Result: The assessment of family relationships indicated maximum expressiveness among families of 76 students, maximum cohesion among families of 115 students, and moderate conflicts among families of 58 students. In the linear correlation, there is a direct relationship of cohesion and expressiveness in the family and social media usage and inverse relationship of conflict within the family and social media usage. Conclusion: There seems to be a direct correlation between social media usage and expressiveness and cohesion within the family and an inverse relationship between conflict and social media usage in the family.","PeriodicalId":392369,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Nursing & Midwifery Research","volume":"44 15","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120910636","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It requires minimal training to be imparted to women. They are instructed to detect any asymmetry with the other breast in terms of a lump, change in breast shape or of the overlying skin (puckering), any abnormal discharge from the nipples &/or any breast lesion that does not heal easily. Teaching women about this importance of breast self-examination is a core subject of community nursing. It was therefore thought important to assess the background knowledge regarding the same amongst women of a selected area in Haryana. The aim of the study was to assess the knowledge and expressed practices regarding breast self-examination among women in a selected area of Haryana. A sample of 50 women was chosen. Data collection was done by using Google form questionnaire after assessing their willingness and ability to participate in this survey by filling up this online form. After assessing the knowledge level, it was found that 80% (n=40) were having adequate knowledge regarding breast self-examination and 20% (n=10) were having inadequate knowledge regarding breast self-examination. 52% of the women (n=26) were practicing breast self-examination and rest were not. Awareness regarding breast self-examination was adequate in the sample studied. However, the practice of performing the same was present in only about 50% of the women in the above-mentioned sample. The findings of the study highlights the need for educational programs to create awareness among women regarding regular breast screening behavior.","PeriodicalId":392369,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Nursing & Midwifery Research","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116079555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
