The oscillations are observed in the large system with groups of generators, or generating plants connected by relatively weak tie lines. The frequency oscillation is the major problem for interconnected power systems; hence, the stability of these oscillations is an important condition. The inter-area oscillation, equipment such as Static Var Compensator and various Flexible AC Transmission System devices, are being increasingly used. Although Power System Stabilizers exist on many generators, there effect is only on the local area and do not effectively damp out inter-area oscillations. The injection of a stable electrical energy into disturbed power system decreases the oscillations; in our research we proposed the use of an electric energy storage system to reduce the frequency oscillations by using phasor measurement unit. This technique is applied in the Algerian interconnection power.","PeriodicalId":38993,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Power Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42643574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Shipping industries use hybrid propulsion systems to de-carbonize and orient the path towards zero emission. The renewable energy supply (RES) is utilized by reducing the dependence on imported conventional fossil fuels; greenhouse gas emissions produced by the usage of fossil fuels are reduced. Renewable green energy is used to generate power at the distribution level. Energy sources are distributed around the world. The utility's hybrid (wind/solar) power system has proven to be a reliable source of energy. In this article, PV and wind (hybrid) power used for marine applications with the reduction of fuel consumption is proposed. The hybrid buck boost converter used for regulating DC output voltage. A multi-level H bridge inverter between DC-DC converter and load provides the load's ac voltage requirement in hybrid systems. For a given output waveform quality, MLI topology provide lower THD and EMI output, higher efficiency and better output waveform. In order to design a multilevel inverter, a cascaded H-Bridge structure was adopted. PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) techniques enable the operation of Cascaded H Bridges to generate an approximate sine wave output from a multilayer inverter. To improve the hybrid system's performance, output of converter is supplied to the thirteen level H bridge inverter. This combination can maintain the appropriate voltage to load ratio. Voltage profile is improved by using H-bridge multilevel inverter. The proposed framework is re-enacted utilizing MATLAB/Simulink.","PeriodicalId":38993,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Power Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46261381","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When implementing a policy of reducing dependence on or abandoning fossil fuels, the use of renewable energy sources is an obvious competitive solution. And for territories remote from power supply networks, the development of renewable energy sources is generally the only alternative. Wind energy is increasingly being used to generate electricity. In this sense, accurate accounting of the influence of wind potential on the energy balance is the basis of energy-saving architecture. From a thermodynamic point of view, wind is a high-quality source of energy. Its high efficiency makes it possible in principle to convert into other types of energy. However, the wind energy flow is unstable – the performance of wind power plants is due to their extremely high sensitivity to the conditions of their location. In this situation, the reliability of the initial data on wind energy resources is a criterion of paramount importance. Therefore, the development of a methodology for evaluating data from long-term meteorological observations of wind speed and direction is of important empirical importance. To design a wind power plant, it is not enough to enter ready–made data on the value of specific power and specific wind energy in the territory into economic calculations - the data deviation is too large. It is necessary to calculate the technical potential of the wind power plant for each prospective location option. Both the approach to accounting for wind potential and the approach to scaling the data of the observation station to remote territories ensure the reliability of the initial data for the design of a wind power plant. The proposed methodology highlights all these aspects and offers an algorithm for evaluating the data of long-term ground-based meteorological observations on the territory of Russia.","PeriodicalId":38993,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Power Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48741665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

GDP surpassed US $ 15 trillion and growth rate raised to 6.5 percent in fourth quarter of 2020 and US $ 17 trillion GDP was recorded in first quarter of 2021. People Republic China’s (PRC) gigantic military budget and revolution in military affairs (RMA) creates senese of hegemonic ambitions in its neighbours. Contrarily, United States (US) sights PRC has ambitions to expand its political influence, gain access to economic markets, change international order by replacing US. This potential asymmetrical and imbalanced relationship locks America in typical Thucydides trap. Washington reached conclusion that economic growth and military might are intertwined. However, it is dependent on China’s energy supplies. PRC’s rise can be slowed down by stopping or interrupting the flow of energy supplies. Range of threats are posed to PRC oil imports i.e. US aerial strike on PRC oil//gas pipelines, use of proxies specially ast Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) to disrupt oil supplies, terrorist attacks on oil containers on land and naval blockade in Persian Gulf. The inference drawn is energy security dependent on Strait of Malacca is Achilles Heel of China. This paper aims at probing Washington’s capacity to disrupt or stop energy supplies to PRC in Malacca strait, Persian Gulf, land routes in Pakistan. But when large system is considered, the overall limit of slack bus is not sufficient to compensate the imbalances. In addition to this, the practical depiction of slack bus does not hold when multiple time intervals are considered in HTS problem. In this research, the concept of slack bus is modified and improved so that it can be used for a large power system in restructured hydrothermal system. Furthermore an improved ABC algorithm, i.e. GOABC is proposed, which provides superior diversity and enhanced convergence compared to ABC algorithm.","PeriodicalId":38993,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Power Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48479687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The application and integration of ESS is a smart way to overcome the problems of timely power supply volatility and minimizing energy losses, transmission congestion relief and upgrade deferral (top 10%), energy time shift (arbitrage), and many other services that reduce the cost of electricity and gain the security of energy supply. The presence of high-level rates of water discharges into the Hydropower Power Plants (HPP) and the problems of congestion in the transmission grid are the two main problems that require new methods for addressing and solving them. To select the right form and type of ESS that should be applied in our national energy system, E-select, a very flexible and internationally approved model is chosen. The results of this study are necessary for achieving a flexible, cheaper, and environmentally friendly energy system in Albania.","PeriodicalId":38993,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Power Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47208927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The stator-side converter controls the generator torque by means of an indirect vector control scheme. In order to reduce the system dependence from the mechanical system behavior, a torque loop is used in the current reference calculations. The battery energy storage system (BESS) plays a fundamental role in controlling and improving the efficiency of renewable energy sources. Stochasticity of wind speed and reliability of the main system components are considered. The grid-side converter controls the DC bus voltage and the reactive power in order to accomplish the grid codes. Speed control using flow directional control, indirect conventionally uses proportional integral (PI) type current regulators, which achieve satisfactory objectives on torque and flow dynamics. The objective of this article is to present an indirect vector control strategy with oriented rotor flux using current regulators of the proportional integral (PI) type, applied to an asynchronous machine supplied by a voltage inverter, capable of supplying during restrictive stresses, more satisfactory torque and flux responses. In this paper, a new and reliable artificial intelligence-based model for solar radiation prediction is presented using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The proposed model is built utilizing real atmospheric affecting measured values according to their locational weather station. In the training process, the Levenberg–Marquardt (LM), Bayesian Regularization (BR), and Scaled Conjugate Gradient (SCG) are used. This inverter simultaneously produces both AC and DC currents, such as the switched boost inverter (SBI) and the z-source inverter. These inverters are suitable for low-power loads such as home appliances that use fractional horse-power motors as single-phase asynchronous drives. Thus, this article proposes a single-phase induction motor powered from a modified nanogrid that involves multiple types of inverters such as a SBI and a ZS inverter. The modified nanogrid is mainly dependent on photovoltaic (PV) as a renewable resource. Thus, this manuscript involves a full design for this proposed grid with its maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and the mathematical models for motor drive with both a SBI and a ZSI. Time-varying speed trajectories are proposed to test the robustness of the proposed drives relative to the fluctuation of PV-parameters like its irradiance. Test results are obtained using the Matlab/ Simulink software package and a comparison with the traditional sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) inverter as a single-input single-output inverter (SISOI). The results indicate that the proposed single-input multi-output inverters are suitable for driving these motors through start-up and operation, although the DC-link voltage is minimized. Furthermore, the proposed system is experimentally implemented with OPAL RT-4510v real-time hardware in the loop (HIL), rapid control prototyping, and OP-8660 HIL controller and data acquisition platform.","PeriodicalId":38993,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Power Systems","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46056854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
