This paper proposes a combination of AHP (analytical hierarchy process) with DEA (data envelopment analysis) to determine the integrated weight for the evaluation criteria of supplier so as to make up for the inconsistent judgments which the AHP is liable to decision-maker and also to solve the problem that the DEA cannot reflect well the preference of decision makers. The proposed methodology features both the merits of the algorithmic and procedural supplier selection approaches. It innovatively solves a supplier selection problem by utilizing both AHP and DEA procedures. A practical case study illustrates its efficiency and effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":389467,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of ICSSSM '05. 2005 International Conference on Services Systems and Services Management, 2005.","volume":"51 1-3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116590952","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Competitive facility location models seek the best location(s) for one or more new competing facilities that maximize the market share captured by the facilities. This paper studies a new competitive location problem with retail regional saturation. This article first analyze the effective factors: rule of gravitation and retail regional saturation, then formulate the retail stores' competitive location model with retail regional saturation. The max-min ant algorithm to solve this model is developed and computational experiment is described.","PeriodicalId":389467,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of ICSSSM '05. 2005 International Conference on Services Systems and Services Management, 2005.","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116764029","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Herein, a membership function of the performance measure of multiple-server fuzzy queues with the arrival rate and service rate are fuzzy numbers is derived, in which α-cut and Zadeh's extension principle are applied to transform multiple-server fuzzy queues to a family of conversional multiple-server queues, and a pair of parametric programs is formulated to calculate the upper and lower bounds of the performance measure. As α varies, the membership function of the expected sojourn time per patient in the clinic with 2-server fuzzy queues is solved in the presented numerical example. Since the performance measures are expressed by membership functions rather than by crisp values, more information is provided for managerial decision-making in hospitals.","PeriodicalId":389467,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of ICSSSM '05. 2005 International Conference on Services Systems and Services Management, 2005.","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125670715","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In line with the individual enterprise performance measurement method and theory, integrated supply chain performance measurement systems should reflect the strategy of integrated supply chain. At the same time, it should be able to check the efficiency of the strategy. According to the layer upon layer strategic objects of integrated supply chain, five key performance aspects (finance, business processes, customer, environment, core enterprise ability) are found. These five key performance fields are significant for the formation and improvement of integrated supply chain.","PeriodicalId":389467,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of ICSSSM '05. 2005 International Conference on Services Systems and Services Management, 2005.","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130115731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a consequence the FSS started to charge the police for its services and that led in due course to the emergence of competition. In order to create a competitive advantage for the FSS, a clear understanding of the customer was needed. This paper describes the development of a measurement instrument to identify shortcomings in the provision of service before presenting the results of a survey of four police forces in England and Wales. Two surprising issues where performance was perceived to be of concern were the 'quality of statements' and 'performances in court'. Other areas needing attention related to timeliness of reporting and communication. The implications of this are discussed and steps to improve operations within the FSS in order to meet the requirements of the police forces are described.","PeriodicalId":389467,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of ICSSSM '05. 2005 International Conference on Services Systems and Services Management, 2005.","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122637834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can be considered as a lot-sizing problem with bounded inventory and backlogging. The production capacity can be considered to be unlimited and the production cost functions are assumed to be linear but time-varying. The results can be easily extended to concave piecewise linear production cost functions. The goal is to minimize the total costs of production, inventory holding and backlogging. We show that the problem can be solved in O(T2) time with general concave inventory holding and backlogging cost functions where T is the number of periods in the planning horizon. We show that the complexity is reduced to O(T) when the inventory holding cost functions are linear and have some required properties.","PeriodicalId":389467,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of ICSSSM '05. 2005 International Conference on Services Systems and Services Management, 2005.","volume":"153 11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131280260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

China's logistics industry is still at a nascent stage. But it is fortunate that China have started to reform its old circulation system and speed up the development of its logistics industry. Many cities begin to plan and carry out the logistics strategy including Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin and so on. Now the region around Bo Sea in China became the economic developing focus in china. In this paper, our aim is to compare the current situation of Tianjin's logistics industry with other regions around Bo Sea and establish its development strategy, which should be coordination with other regions. We analyze Tianjin's logistics industry from a new perspective and design a new framework to state the current situation systematically. According to large numbers of statistic data, we analyze the advantages and disadvantage of Tianjin's logistics industry, and then put forward its new orientation.","PeriodicalId":389467,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of ICSSSM '05. 2005 International Conference on Services Systems and Services Management, 2005.","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131467449","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
