The main challenge is how to establish a series of elastic data channels from sensors to mobile users through data-analyzing jobs running in the cloud. The variation of network protocols, the dynamism of cloud-computing resources, and even user mobility result in the following three design problems. Data-analyzing programs must: (1) deal with the major sensor and cloud communication protocols, (2) include hard-coded sensor manipulation and data retrieval operations, and (3) handle job/user migration in dynamic cloud environments, which needs the recovery of broken data connections. To address these problems, we are developing the Connector software tool kit that provides cloud jobs with uniform data channels, allows them to exchange standard input/output as well as graphics with remote users, and re-establishes their data channels upon a job or user migration. This paper presents Connector's system overview, implementation, and performance consideration.","PeriodicalId":387483,"journal":{"name":"2011 21st International Conference on Systems Engineering","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122219438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Also, weighted least square estimation is used for harmonic state estimation, which is based on singular value decomposition rather than the normal equations. The singular value decomposition approach eliminates the need of observability analysis prior to estimation. Optimal number and position of phasor measurement units among three different cases for harmonic state estimation in unbalanced distribution systems are compared. In first case, it is assumed that phasor measurement unit has enough channels to measure bus voltage phasor and all current phasors connected to this bus. In two other cases, phasor measurement unit has only single channel to measure a three-phase current. In one case, phasor measurement unit measured a current phasors along one branch that is connected to the bus, and in another case, phasor measurement unit measures three single phase current phasors along 1, 2 or 3 branches that are connected to the bus. The proposed algorithms for harmonic state estimation and optimal measurement placement are applied on a real 58-bus unbalanced distribution system and the results are presented.","PeriodicalId":387483,"journal":{"name":"2011 21st International Conference on Systems Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129887489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The process of generating a primitive polynomial is done by replicating the other primitive polynomial which is fixed in the device. The implemented algorithm allows the unit to generate all possible primitive polynomials of the same degree as the stored polynomial. This approach allows us to extend the cryptographic power and capabilities of the existing cryptographic devices.","PeriodicalId":387483,"journal":{"name":"2011 21st International Conference on Systems Engineering","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130626929","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For GTG synthesis our method does not require to calculate thresholds, that separate function onset and offsets, which greatly simplifies and speeds up the synthesis algorithm. For MTTG we propose a novel synthesis method that determines structure and circuit parameters efficiently. As complexity of MTTG circuit increases with number of thresholds we have developed a dedicated heuristic for efficiently determining the number of required thresholds. The number of resulting thresholds is smaller compared to the number of thresholds calculated using other methods.","PeriodicalId":387483,"journal":{"name":"2011 21st International Conference on Systems Engineering","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130725298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Setup and management of computing infrastructure, that is in a state of constant flux, related uncertainties of the state of individual elements as well as levels of their usage per application or user on an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis - pose serious challenges. This paper describes how the Anisotropic Network concept, with its mathematical apparatus, can be adopted to model, monitor and manage usage of the cloud computing resources and services seen as an elastic network of interacting elements that are in a constant motion. Various aspects of service utilisation prediction and anisotropic resource movements related to the novel Cloud Computing Elastic Network (C2EN) model will be discussed in the context of a mathematical model and experimental results of simulations.","PeriodicalId":387483,"journal":{"name":"2011 21st International Conference on Systems Engineering","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116238619","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective is to maximize the level of mesh utilization. To achieve this goal we adapt three algorithms: Tabu Search, Simulated Annealing and Random Search, as well as we design an auxiliary algorithm Dumb Fit and adapt another auxiliary algorithm named First Fit. To measure the efficiency of the algorithms we introduce our own evaluating function called Cumulative Effectiveness and a derivative Utilization Factor. Finally, we implement an experimentation system to test these algorithms on different sets of tasks to allocate. Moreover, a short analysis based on results of series of experiments conducted on three different categories of task sets (small tasks, mixed tasks and large tasks) is presented.","PeriodicalId":387483,"journal":{"name":"2011 21st International Conference on Systems Engineering","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116426290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
