Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the implementation of the\u0000 Smart Tourism Branding concept in Bantul city, Indonesia, during the\u0000 COVID-19 pandemic. This is a quantitative study, using the random sampling\u0000 method to obtain data from 230 respondents through a questionnaire, which\u0000 was analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).\u0000 During the initial stage, a statistical test on each question?s validity and\u0000 reliability in the questionnaire was conducted, after which data analysis\u0000 was carried out. Before performing multiple linear regression analysis,\u0000 several assumptions were fulfilled, including data normality and\u0000 multicollinearity. The results showed that the evaluation of smart tourism\u0000 branding provides an overview of people?s understanding and satisfaction\u0000 level with regard to tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Jelajah\u0000 Bantul application, which is a smart tourism branding instrument, supports\u0000 Bantul City?s ability to compete in attracting tourists and investment\u0000 globally. The results demonstrate\u0000 that this city has the power to stir emotional engagement that arises from:\u0000 a high cognitive-affective reaction towards the dynamic interactions between\u0000 the curved contours of its streets; the harmony of its colours; the\u0000 magnitude and vastness generated by its panoramic views towards the sea; its\u0000 proportions in relation to the dimensions of the human body in different\u0000 postures; the contrasts of the height, light, dimensions and ambiances; and\u0000 the spatial navigation that favours the act of walking to discover the\u0000 Kasbah and unveil its mysteries. The term ?overtourism? describes a condition in\u0000 which the limits are exceeded to the point that regular everyday urban life\u0000 suffers. The quantity of visitors and resulting crowds create burdens on the\u0000 functioning of some city services, and they simultaneously result in a\u0000 deterioration in the quality of sightseeing. This paper gives a review of\u0000 the academic literature concerning this issue, especially studies\u0000 concentrating on cruising and alternative short-term renting. Major\u0000 complaints raised by locals on the negative impact of tourism are not only\u0000 about overcrowding, but also include the serious social and economic\u0000 questions of the endangerment of rights. In order to regulate and mitigate\u0000 conflicts, preserve identity and allow decent urban life in all its aspects,\u0000 city governments are forced to introduce some limitations and rules in the\u0000 sphere of tourism, and also with regard to the real-estate market and urban\u0000 planning. By applying a language/ design analogy, this research\u0000 introduces a reverse-engineering tool that helps guide the systematic\u0000 analysis of architectural precedents. The visual tool consists of four main\u0000 layers: the morphological, the semantic, the semiotic, and the pragmatic. To\u0000 test the tool?s applicability, a prominent precedent from the Palladian\u0000 designs is analyzed as a case study. By developing the tool and\u0000 demonstrating its applicability for the analysis of the underlying\u0000 regulatory and formative principles of the Palladian design, this paper aims\u0000 to contribute to the knowledge of architectural design by introducing an\u0000 analytical tool for decoding and externalizing the design language. This\u0000 tool can be added to the existing toolbox of designers, and it can help\u0000 reveal new insights into the multi-layered compositional language of\u0000 precedents and their underlying architectonics. To achieve the objective, the following approaches\u0000 were implemented. Firstly, the transformation of the socio-economic\u0000 structure in HCM City, which is a primary factor affecting the development\u0000 of apartment buildings was examined. Secondly, the well-known space syntax\u0000 method for analyzing the spatial structure plan was outlined. Thirdly, a\u0000 survey of traditional houses and apartment buildings from 1960 to 2010 was\u0000 conducted. Among the various traditional house styles, the Hue traditional\u0000 garden house, which has primary effects on the modern housing design in HCM\u0000 City, was selected as a representative sample to compare with apartment\u0000 units. Lastly, the space syntax method was employed to analyze the spatial\u0000 structure of the sample of traditional houses and apartment units. The\u0000 effects of the Hue traditional house?s spatial configuration on apartment\u0000 buildings were analyzed. The result shows that the spatial configuration of\u0000 modern apartment buildings and traditional houses have similar\u0000 characteristics, including having an adaptable natural environment, and they\u0000 both reflect Vietnamese culture and society. Our analysis encompasses a wide\u0000 range of socio-economic, spatial, transport and infrastructure indicators, as\u0000 well as energy efficiency and energy consumption indicators in a sample of 35\u0000 world cities, covering the period from 1960 to 2005. Comparative analysis\u0000 indicates there are significant differences regarding the determinants of\u0000 urban transport energy consumption, especially between the US and Australian\u0000 automobile-dependent cities, on the one hand, and the wealthy Asian\u0000 metropolises, on the other. Despite some recent positive trends (a decline in\u0000 automobile vehiclekilometres and reduction in urban transport energy\u0000 consumption), a large number of cities in the developed world still rely\u0000 predominantly on cars, while sustainable modes of urban transport play an\u0000 almost negligible role. Due to trends of urbanization, demographic growth and\u0000 a rise in living standards, the main focus of attention has shifted to\u0000 metropolises in developing countries.
