In the translation task, having both source and target languages in the same language family is a luxury that cannot be relied upon. The trained models for the task must overcome such differences either through manual augmentations or automatically inferred capacity built into the model design. In this work, we investigated the impact of multiple methods of differing word orders during translation and further experimented in assimilating the source languages syntax to the target word order using pre-ordering. We focused on the field of extremely low-resource scenarios. We also conducted experiments on practical data augmentation techniques that support the reordering capacity of the models through varying the target objectives, adding the secondary goal of removing noises or reordering broken input sequences. In particular, we propose methods to improve translat on quality with the denoising autoencoder in Neural Machine Translation (NMT) and pre-ordering method in Phrase-based Statistical Machine Translation (PBSMT). The experiments with a number of English-Vietnamese pairs show the improvement in BLEU scores as compared to both the NMT and SMT systems.","PeriodicalId":38688,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Computing and Information Technology","volume":"78 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80219166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The topic of this paper is the so-called \"Middle Library\" which has been, up to now, completely unknown to the public.The books of today’s Middle Library arrived in Hilandar in well-known ways: some were bought, and some were donated within the framework of a consecrated contributory tradition, not only by pious Serbs but also by Russians. Many of them come from personal monastic libraries, in accordance with the rule which says that the property of deceased monks remains in their monasteries. However, the Middle Library has a specificity that shows in the right light the Serbian-Russian spiritual symbiosis, which probably experienced its deepest expression on the Holy Mountain. Namely, a large number of books contain handwritten records clearly showing that they were, in the recent past (the nineteenth and the early twentieth century), Russian-owned, more precisely – that they were not in Hilandar: Russian names and surnames are clearly visible, not only of monks but also of laymen; entire sentences are written in Russian and many books have Russian seals, which clearly testifies that they were used in the prayer and liturgical practice of Russian churches and monks on Mount Athos. So, where did the Hilandar Monastery get the books with the seal of the Russian Athos cell of St. John Chrysostom, the Russian hermitage of St. Elijah, the Karyes hermitage of the Holy Trinity, etc.? All those cells and hermitages are, in fact, the property of Hilandar from ancient times, but due to the decline of Serbian monasticism, they have been abandoned in the meantime; since the eighteenth century, they have been slowly inhabited by Russian monks, who became the most numerous on the Holy Mountain until the First World War. However, after the October Revolution, the Russian monastic order of Mount Athos experienced a huge decline, so over time, those cells were left without inhabitants. What was left behind, in this case – books, was transferred to Hilandar by the right of ownership and placed mostly in the Middle Library, whose collection was thus significantly enriched both in quantity and content, strengthening its Russian character.The Middle Library contains mainly books of Russian origin, printed in the Church Slavic language, in the period from the seventeenth to the twentieth century. They are mostly liturgical, but a significant part is made up of books to read. A small part of the collection is in Russian civil Cyrillic, and as a sub-collection, there are also Serbian books of the eighteenth century.This paper describes, in brief, the component parts of the Middle Library and their basic elements, and presents a short history of the processing of its book collection, since the seventies of the last century.","PeriodicalId":38688,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Computing and Information Technology","volume":"47 1","pages":"17-27"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86008552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They can be reduced to the conception of codicology in a narrower sense, as an archaeological discipline, and its conception in a broader sense, as a historical discipline. Regardless of these differences, its starting point is in the material structure of the codex. Recent tendencies in the development of codicology lead to its adaptation to the nature of the material or to certain scientific goals: quantitative codicology is interested in book production and its economic and social context and does not recognize the distinctive value of an individual book but of a mass of ordinary manuscripts; comparative codicology compares manuscripts belonging to different cultures, searching for their common features and mutual influences; structural codicology distinguishes between the morphological and syntactic dimensions of manuscripts and is particularly suitable for processing noncompact codices.During the 1970s, Dimitrije Bogdanovic was the first to write about codicology in the Serbian environment, advocating its broad, cultural understanding, but he did not have a large number of followers. This can be explained by the specific development of the Serbian science of manuscripts. Namely, for more than six decades, the term archaeography has been used here for describing manuscripts, and the methodology of archaeography has been characterized by equal treatment of all elements of a manuscript book, including content, which is why one manuscript is being processed by three or four experts of different scientific profiles. This has been transferred to the scientific research field as well because researchers, for the most part, stay within the framework of a certain range of topics and methodologies from their disciplines, approaching the codex as a historical source, while its overall understanding is left to archaeographers who, however, do not work in scientific institutions but only in libraries. The paper presents in more detail the differences between the codicological and archaeographic approach and advocates the use of the term material description for the initial part of the full archaeographic description.","PeriodicalId":38688,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Computing and Information Technology","volume":"196 1","pages":"28-35"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89801287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their emergence and use have been major issues of discussion in scientific practice and literature. While some institutions have enjoyed using e-resources for some time now, others have recorded low usage.This study has revealed various challenges of EIFL (Electronic Information for Libraries) e-resources usage in ZALICO (Zambian Library Consortium) institutions. Today, ZALICO has access to over 30 databases from reputable publishers, most of which come under open access through EIFL membership. Despite having been with EIFL for more than a decade, ZALICO members still experience the low usage of electronic resources. The real causes of low usage of e-resources at the institutional level are not clear hence the need to establish factors behind this problem and the way to solve it. This picture may be worrying as the consortium continues to spend financial means on e-resources that are not appreciated by users. Other concerns may be on the quality of literature users are using in their academic activities.The main aim of the study was to establish factors behind the low usage of EIFL resources among ZALICO institutions. The study examined these issues as a case study. The questionnaire and usage analysis were used for data collection. The Statistic Package for Social Sciences software and Microsoft Excel were used for analyzing quantitative data, while content analysis was used for qualitative data from the questionnaire open-ended questions. The study reveals various access and usage challenges such as poor Internet connections, inadequate search skills among users, ineffective e-resources promotion strategies resulting in low awareness levels, problems of registration to EIFL resources, and non-proactive librarians.To improve the situation, the research identifies four undertakings: continuous user training, more sensitizations and promotions of e-resources using various methods, improved Internet connections (increased bandwidth, provision of more hot spots at various locations and increased Internet access points), and training of institutional librarians on the registration process as it is deemed to be cumbersome.","PeriodicalId":38688,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Computing and Information Technology","volume":"8 1","pages":"73-85"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84847534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The characteristics of the modern cyber environment in which infographics have found a noticeable application are highlighted: the overflow of users with different information, the need to summarize them and the dominance of the visual over the textual narrative, as well as the physiological functioning of the brain system, which is characterized by the dominance of the sense of sight and more efficient memory of picture than text called the picture superiority effect. The application of infographics in librarianship is considered through the descriptions of several selected examples of infographics that effectively represent specific aspects of library work on the Pinterest portal. First, the graphical solution of the statistical annual report is presented, then a step-by-step guide to information literacy for students, guidance on using the card catalog from the 1930s, and finally posters pointing to plagiarism, promotion of cooperation between libraries and teachers, and a useful technique called close reading. For librarians who are interested in infographic design, guidelines have been offered for creating effective solutions in the opinion of three experts: Edward Tufte, Randy Krum, and Istok Pavlovic. The guidelines refer to the clarity, precision, effectiveness and simplicity of design solutions, the structure and intriguingness of the story, as well as attracting attention (the 5-second rule), evoking emotions, and the use of visual metaphors. The necessary tools and free design platforms are also indicated. The aim of this paper is to encourage librarians to think about the visual motifs of representativeness and library marketing, to be creative and above all authentic.","PeriodicalId":38688,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Computing and Information Technology","volume":"29 1","pages":"86-99"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89400416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through cultural and professional development policies, many factors cause the status of public libraries to change, both in relation to normative instances and in relation to the community they serve. Dealing with the opinion of users is the first step in the professionalization of library activities.This paper analyzes the results of the survey Libraries through the Eyes of Users conducted among the users of the public libraries of Montenegro at the end of 2018. The survey is an integral part of the doctoral dissertation New Communication Paradigm in the Network of Public Libraries in Montenegro. According to the available documentation, this is the first survey of this kind conducted among the users of public libraries in Montenegro. The results of the survey indicate clearly that the situation in the public librarianship of the country can be changed only by introducing a new communication paradigm based on the use of modern media and technological achievements.The digital environment has a direct impact on the organization of work in public libraries and the development of new customer services. The aim of the survey is to determine the current situation and give suggestions for improving and affirming the work of public libraries, based on the specific attitude of users about library products. Guidelines for the introduction and integration of modern technological innovations in the work of public libraries must be based on examples of good practice in library and information systems of more developed European countries.The aim of the survey was to measure the level of satisfaction of the users of Montenegrin public libraries with the quality of customer services. By summarizing the results of the research, for the first time, the professional public has gained accurate insight into the views of users on library products, as well as on the infrastructural, personal, and informative qualities of the libraries. The social goal of the research is that the National Library Đurđe Crnojevic, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, local governments, cultural representatives, and the professional public use its results in order to implement specific activities in the process of providing conditions for modern functioning of all public libraries in Montenegro.","PeriodicalId":38688,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Computing and Information Technology","volume":"29 1","pages":"44-56"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89867083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sometime after launching the Digital Library of Budva (DLB) in November 2019, two issues naturally have raised, asking for evidence-based answers: the effectiveness of invested resources and the direction of the further development. Although the content is locally oriented, the hypothesis was that this new channel of presentation would attract audiences from a far wider geographical area. This hypothesis is confirmed, as well as the empirical observations that there is a direct and high correlation between the number of sessions and presence at social and other media, and that users are inclined to access the DLB via mobile devices, behaving more like sightseers than attentive readers. The analysis of web traffic during one year was performed using Google Analytics.The main aim of the analysis was to get a clear insight into the structure, interests, and behavior of users. It was supposed to be a base for achieving all the defined goals – increasing the number of users, acquiring regular users, extending sessions, and increasing the number of digital unit downloads. Despite limitations in the author’s specific knowledge of webometrics and the possibilities of Google Analytics, and the short period that was being analyzed, the results and conclusions are valuable for determining the main directions of the future DLB development policy.The analysis has shown three main areas as the most important to pay attention to – expanding the offer of digital content with visual materials, a greater presence in the media and on social networks, and popularization of DLB in places of professional and scientific communication. Achieving better results in these three areas would help justify all the mentioned reasons for creating the Digital Library.","PeriodicalId":38688,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Computing and Information Technology","volume":"26 1","pages":"57-65"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82495274","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today, in the digital environment, they are described and can be searched in electronic library catalogs and browsed in digital libraries. They have never before been available to such a large circle of users. The paper points out the possibilities of presenting rarities in electronic databases, and especially their interconnection. The digitization of rarities does not mean only the transfer of data into new formats but also implies a high-quality new interactive research approach. There are some examples from the Matica Srpska Library – its electronic catalog, Digital MSL, and its inputs in the Digital Register of Cultural Property. During the cataloging of rarities, in addition to the description, great attention is paid to the copies. This paper lists the types and order of the data entered as notes on the copies during the electronic cataloging of old books in the Matica Srpska Library. The possibility of connecting the electronic catalog with digital collections is also emphasized. The Digital MSL provides access to the cultural heritage possessed by the Matica Srpska Library for scientific researchers and the general public. In this database, digital publications are linked to the electronic catalog and descriptions in the printed catalogs of rare materials. All printed materials and manuscripts that have the status of cultural property in the Republic of Serbia are recorded in the Digital Register of Old and Rare Library Materials. The database provides a possibility of connecting the entered cultural property with the description in the electronic catalog and digital copy and thus combines numerous data on protected specimens in one place.","PeriodicalId":38688,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Computing and Information Technology","volume":"39 1","pages":"36-43"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77680745","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
