Para isso, apresenta-se em um primeiro momento as abordagens da Nova Sociologia Economica como uma via para se pensar o desenvolvimento para alem da perspectiva economica somente. Em um segundo momento, discutir-se as contradicoes dos conceitos de desenvolvimento sustentavel e as implicacoes de sua institucionalizacao. Em seguida, sao problematizadas algumas abordagens da Responsabilidade Social Empresarial com foco em uma discussao critica sobre a Teoria dos Stakeholders, muito presente nos estudos tradicionais sobre o papel das empresas no desenvolvimento sustentavel de territorios.","PeriodicalId":38571,"journal":{"name":"Scopus: Journal of East African Ornithology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68979331","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firms engaging in product development (PD) face the important problem of allocating scarce development resources to a multitude of opportunities. In this paper, we propose a mathematical formulation to optimize product development (PD) investment decisions. The model maximizes the performance of a product under development based on its product architecture and the firm’s resource constraints. The analysis of the model shows that the architecture of a product plays an essential role in affecting the optimal resource allocation to various product modules.","PeriodicalId":38571,"journal":{"name":"Scopus: Journal of East African Ornithology","volume":"119 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69682898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The academic music library aims to cover the information needs of the academic community; yet the unique nature of music information also allows academic libraries to develop services for a broad spectrum of different user groups. Design/methodology/approach – The theoretical analysis is supported by empirical evidence from a nationwide survey in Greece. The survey was carried out from July to September 2013 and presents results from interviews with the directors of all academic music libraries in Greece. Findings – The results suggest that the period of economic crisis is also a period of challenges and innovation for music libraries which calls them to redefine policies and priorities, and further consider the needs and expectations of wider audiences, i.e. musicians outside the academic community. The financial downturn can be seen as an opportunity for restructuring the academic music ...","PeriodicalId":38571,"journal":{"name":"Scopus: Journal of East African Ornithology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1108/LM-06-2014-0063","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"62224887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The eventual goal is the statistical calibration of the parameters associated with the active nitridation of graphite carbon; this work is a stepping stone in this direction. Simple catalycity models are used to illustrate the the calibration workflow. This study builds from previous work where it was determined that a one-dimensional model used was inadequate to represent the physical mechanisms at work. The experimental work is briefly recapitulated and the mathematical model used for data reduction is presented. Details of the statistical calibration procedure and all assumptions are discussed. Results of the calibration procedure for the simple catalytic model will be presented and discussed. Extensions underway are highlighted.","PeriodicalId":38571,"journal":{"name":"Scopus: Journal of East African Ornithology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.2514/6.2015-2665","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69063456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Jet Erosion Test (JET) has been developed to quantify the erodibility of soil and other cohesive sediments based on theory derived for circular impinging jets. The JET is now an ASTM standard used commonly around the world, yet the physical characteristics of the impingement jet in the apparatus have not been evaluated in detail. A recent study by the authors demonstrated that a confined environment produces variations in jet properties, in comparison with impinging jet theory. Here, we report on detailed measurements of shear stress in the JET apparatus acting on a flat plate representing a soil surface to be tested. The flow field was quantified at high temporal and spatial resolution with 2D particle image velocimetry. Results show that (1) applied surface shear stress is significantly larger than that predicted by impinging jet theory and assumed by JET methodology, (2) the maximum scaled wall shear stress increases with increasing nozzle velocity, and (3) the wall jet characteristics are asymmetric within the apparatus. These results provide the basis for understanding the erosion process in the JET. This study should improve confidence in employing the JET for determining the erodibility of cohesive sediments in field applications.","PeriodicalId":38571,"journal":{"name":"Scopus: Journal of East African Ornithology","volume":"1 1","pages":"1742-1751"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1061/9780784479162.170","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"58577269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It explored the Internet radio as a platform with multimedia tools that could strengthen the formation of reflective citizenship through content of cultural promotion. Similarly, it identifies, from a tracking station in Colombia, how these tools -social networks, podcasts, chats, video channels and new ways to communicate- allow the active participation of citizens in their production. Rescuing the use of technologies that facilitate communication, such as Internet radio, to recognize and retrieve the value of their own cultural promotion of a state in order to form a reflective citizenship, it is the approach that was made from the ethnographic and applied research and is now presented in this article. It is the way in which citizens could converge in a medium to produce content that will strengthen their cultural identity or, if you will, their vision of the nation. It is a commitment to establish an alternative to the traditional models, a guide to the community interested in promoting a reflexive citizen of cultural heritage.","PeriodicalId":38571,"journal":{"name":"Scopus: Journal of East African Ornithology","volume":"18 1","pages":"475-498"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71158170","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
