The proposed method aims at selecting a subset of the original features that are both 1) relevant for the considered problem (i.e., preserve the functional relationship between input and output variables), and 2) invariant (stable) across different domains (i.e., minimize the data set shift among different domains). Domains can be associated with images collected on different areas or on the same area at different times. We propose a novel measure of domain stability, which evaluates the distance of the conditional distributions between the source and target domain. Such a measure is defined on the basis of kernel embeddings of conditional distributions and can be applied to both classification and regression problems. It performs a sequence of orthogonal subspace projection to extract potential targets of interest. One major issue arises in ATGP is how to terminate the algorithm in the sense that how many targets are required for ATGP to generate before it is terminated. This paper presents a recursive version of ATGP, referred to as recursive ATGP (RATGP) which has two advantages. One is no need of inverting any matrix as ATGP does for finding each target. Both the accuracy and time performance of navigation algorithm are important. To respond rapidly to transportation network changes, this paper proposes two new dynamic shortest path algorithms based on the re-optimization method. The algorithms take full advantage of the previous search results, thus they take relatively few computing time to obtain the optimal solution. The processing performance is assessed using different hardware. However, the performance of SVM highly depends on the kernel parameter selection. Hence, it is hard to apply the SVM based on the kernel with lots of parameters such as the full bandwidth RBF (FRBF) kernel whose number of parameters is equal to the number of features. In our previous study, an automatic kernel parameter selection method (APS) was proposed for the normalized kernel function. The proper kernel parameters are the minimizer of the optimization problem based on the proposed kernel-based class separability measure. In this study, we apply the APS to find the best kernel parameters of the FRBF kernel. Third, there are increased expectations (hope?) that new graduates will have a basic skill set that will allow them to contribute immediately after being hired. Fourth, many companies have no idea how valuable a person with a Ph.D. or Master's degree might be. Fifth, many recent graduates are considering the potential of becoming entrepreneurs. When dealing with single class problem, one-class classifiers proved to be more effective compared with conventional supervised classifiers. The Support Vector Data Description (SVDD), one kind of one-class classification method, has been applied to specific land-cover classifications lately. However, the sampling scheme used in previous studies does not follow the SVDD principle. In this paper, Euclidean distance and Mahalanobis distance were chosen as an index to optimize training samples in order to improve the accuracy of SVDD classification. Result shows that sample optimization do improve the classification accuracy. In this study, we focus on heavy haze event occurring around Beijing in June, when a serious aerosol episode was detected by both satellite and ground measurements. Retrieval of atmospheric aerosol characteristics from satellite is achieved by radiative transfer simulation in the Earth atmosphere model. The aerosol model is compiled from the worldwide aerosol monitoring network (NASA/AERONET). It is shown here that the radiative transfer problem in the case of aerosol episode is solved by a method of successive order of scattering.
