Hypotheses are put forward, which allow to eliminate existing disadvantages of constructions. Their essence is reduced to the feeding of grain perpendicular to the direction of air flow. This is provided by the slope of the walls of the aspiration canal at an angle close to 45°, so that the aspiration channel acquires the shape of a truncated hollow cone, coaxially inside a scattered installed, in the form of a truncated cone, which is turned with a larger base upward. The equation of regression of efficiency and clarity of the process of pneumatic separation from the regime parameters of the aspiration chamber is obtained. The regression equation of the purification and precipitation of light impurities has been obtained by an improved aspiration chamber.","PeriodicalId":38505,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Transilvania University of Brasov, Series II: Forestry, Wood Industry, Agricultural Food Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48679235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study analysed the requirements and preferences of forwarder users in five European countries by means of a questionnaire structured on issues such as performance requirements, market analysis and innovation potential. Expectations for the future forwarder technology are related to uncertainties stemming from the operational and regulatory environments. Machine flexibility as well as acceptable purchasing and operating costs could be the solution expected by customers. These parameters are supported by the modular approach of the Forwarder 2020 project which enables customers to adapt the technology to their needs.","PeriodicalId":38505,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Transilvania University of Brasov, Series II: Forestry, Wood Industry, Agricultural Food Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69795399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These kinds of products can be considered potential ecological wood preservatives for special applications, such as furniture conservation. The present paper refers to a laboratory screening test designed to allow a quick and reliable evaluation of the potential biotical effect of 3 types of essential oils. The tested products were: basil (Ocimum Basilicum), thyme (Thymus vulgaris), and oregano (Origanum vulgare) essential oils at 4 different concentrations. Two types of fungi were employed as biological material: a white rot (Trametes versicolor) and a brown rot (Postia placenta). Oregano and thyme essential oils demonstrated biocidal effect against both tested fungi, being more active against brown rot than white rot. This effect depends on the concentration of the essential oils. The biocidal potential of basil essential oil is very low.","PeriodicalId":38505,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Transilvania University of Brasov, Series II: Forestry, Wood Industry, Agricultural Food Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48083737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on an extensive literature survey, this paper reviews the uses of 540 rainforest species from the Pastaza region (Ecuador) and builds further the existing knowledge by field research that identified 39 new uses of local rainforest plants. Following a systematic categorization of the known and newly identified uses, it was found that the local plants are predominantly used as materials, medicines and foods (>80% of the sample), while the tree species dominate in various categories of local uses. The information given in this paper may help in building a local strategy for the sustainable use of plants and the conservation of endangered species, as well as in valuing the forest ecosystem provisioning services.","PeriodicalId":38505,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Transilvania University of Brasov, Series II: Forestry, Wood Industry, Agricultural Food Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69795535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper aims to identify and analyze stakeholders’ interests and roles in the context of secondary spruce forest conversion in the Ukrainian Carpathians. The research is structured into three steps: (1) identification of stakeholders; (2) questionnaire survey; and (3) data processing to analyze the stakeholders’ interests and roles. The results show that almost all stakeholders mainly receive benefits rather than losses from the secondary spruce forest conversion. Seven potential “supporters” and six potential “opponents” were identified. The most impacted groups of stakeholders are harvesting enterprises, wood processing enterprises, and users of forest products. The results obtained provide support for the forest policy formulation aimed at implementing sustainable forest management in the Ukrainian Carpathians context.","PeriodicalId":38505,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Transilvania University of Brasov, Series II: Forestry, Wood Industry, Agricultural Food Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69795637","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The trees regenerated in forest stands today will have to cope with changing conditions during their lifetime. Adaptive forest management includes a large variety of silvicultural measures: changes in species composition by converting monocultures to mixed forests, changes in forest structure, intensified thinning, or the reduction of rotation time. The aim of this review is to highlight the silvicultural measures and practices that have been recommended for adaptation to climate change, and to apply Bolte’s classification of adaptation strategies in order to identify which type of strategy is recommended in the literature. The literature review shows that active adaptation strategy tends to dominate as compared with passive adaptation or forest conservation measures. On the other hand, active adaptation with intensified thinning, shorter rotation periods, and change in the forest structure presents the risk of being rejected by a part of society for which climate change adaption should be a natural process. In addition, the current policy framework may limit the freedom of active adaptation measures.","PeriodicalId":38505,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Transilvania University of Brasov, Series II: Forestry, Wood Industry, Agricultural Food Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69795446","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
