La definition des transitions et les temporalites des changements sont examinees a partir des donnees archeologiques et historiques, radiochronologiques (14C), geologiques et pedologiques, paleobotaniques (anthracologie, carpologie, phytolithes), ethnologiques et iconographiques (dont les photographies du debut du XXe s. par les Peres Jesuites). L'etude du bassin versant du Nahr Ibrahim est articulee a une approche multiscalaire du territoire entre le Nahr el‑Kelb au sud et le Nahr ej‑Jaouz au nord, pour cartographier les variations de l'occupation du sol. Dans cet article, nous discutons les apports et les limites de la carte archeologique puis nous mettons en perspective l'etude d'un profil de sol polygenique plurimetrique avec les premiers resultats provenant de la fouille de l'habitat sedentaire le plus ancien documente a ce jour dans la montagne libanaise. L'approche integrative met en evidence des reponses de l'environnement a l’exploitation des ressources par les societes et des adaptations de ces dernieres aux changements dans la seconde moitie de l'Holocene, depuis les defrichements vers 6000 BP jusqu'aux mutations paysageres et socio-economiques recentes.","PeriodicalId":38417,"journal":{"name":"Mediterranee","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47131057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present paper reports the 4th November 2015 flash flood that occurred in the Western Desert of Egypt. Satellite images processing, field survey, close range photogrammetry and sediment analyses allow the quantification of flood geomorphologic impacts at different size scales. At Wadi An-Natrun depression, lake size doubled, hundreds of new ephemeral ponds appear. All ponds were dry by the next summer and lake margins were transformed into salt pans. At a local scale, four detailed case studies show how much geomorphic impacts of the same flash flood event vary in terms of gully morphology, sediment failure or stability, sediment size transport from clays to blocks and fan extension. This variability depends on local soil erodibility, including bedrock heterogeneity, soil cohesion and permeability, vegetation cover and inherited topography. Organic muds formed into ephemeral ponds and playa may provide a relevant sedimentary proxy for past flood events in the Western Desert of Egypt.","PeriodicalId":38417,"journal":{"name":"Mediterranee","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49505207","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Over the last forty years, keeping pace with profound changes at the social, economic, demographic and cultural levels, the Portuguese education system worked to address many of its problems by making political commitments and taking strategic actions. Though sometimes lacking a coherent strategy, these measures led to very significant developments. By analyzing the available databases and legal documents, this study provides an overview of this progress, placing special emphasis on the legislative changes, the redrafting of the educational offer, the curricular changes and the evolution of the educational network, and establishing a link with other dimensions of development.","PeriodicalId":38417,"journal":{"name":"Mediterranee","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48890387","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this perspective, we have to consider not only geographically contiguous territories, but also places located further away which, notwithstanding distance, still play an important role. It means considering Portugal within references that include the Iberian Peninsula, Europe, the Atlantic and more broadly Lusophony. This is the variable, complex and changeable geometry in which the present is discussed and the future of the country is questioned by many authors, sometimes as a minor dependent state, sometimes as an assertive and resilient player empowered by the opportunities of interaction between different spatial contexts.","PeriodicalId":38417,"journal":{"name":"Mediterranee","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43265462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tourism is one of Portugal’s main socio-economic activities, with a highly satisfactory growth potential. The analysis of Portuguese tourism that is presented here spans the period 1965 to 2016. It therefore sets out the main changes in tourism in Portugal over the last 50 years. The rise in tourist demand and the growing internationalization of destinations are emphasized, highlighting the importance of air transport, event organization and promotional campaigns. In terms of tourist destination structure, this article highlights the main tourist products and their consolidation over the period, the importance of education and training of human resources to ensure the quality of products and services, and the regional differentiation of tourist activity. Lastly, it presents a summary of the main tourist planning initiatives in Portugal in the last 50 years. The results show a marked increase in tourism supply and demand in the first 16 years of the twenty-first century, an increasing improvement of amenities and diversification of markets, not to mention a planning effort, yet an asymmetrical pattern persists in the national territory.","PeriodicalId":38417,"journal":{"name":"Mediterranee","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42197550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This in turn has led to a drastic reduction of workers in the primary sector, due to the rural exodus, a consequence of which was the abandonment of many agricultural areas and their transformation into forested areas. In turn, the abandonment of the agricultural-forestry-pastoral activity led to an accumulation of large amounts of fuel in the forest which, when weather conditions are favorable, feed forest fires. With the accelerated abandonment of farming activities-conditions conducive to the development of natural areas-, and with disinvestment in forests, forest fires have been growing increasingly bigger and there seems to have been little success in countering this terrible scourge that is wiping out greater space suitable for forestry. francaisLes transformations socio-economiques dans la societe portugaise au cours de la seconde moitie du siecle dernier ont conduit a un profond changement de sa structure d'âge, avec des repercussions importantes sur l'activite, a savoir la reduction drastique du secteur primaire, en raison de l'exode rural, qui a eu pour consequence l'abandon de nombreuses zones agricoles et le developpement accelere de forets. A son tour, l'abandon de l'agriculture, des forets et des pâturages a permis l'accumulation de quantites elevees de combustibles dans la foret qui, lorsque les conditions meteorologiques sont favorables, alimentent les incendies de foret. L'accentuation de la deprise rurale – condition propice au developpement d’espaces naturels -, contribue au developpement de feux de foret de plus en plus importants et rien ne semble pour l’instant contrarier le developpement de ce terrible fleau qui detruit de plus en plus d’espaces forestiers.","PeriodicalId":38417,"journal":{"name":"Mediterranee","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43748373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Understanding the recent socioeconomic transformations implies addressing the process of European integration from the outset. At the same time, the world has become increasingly complex. Changes (technological in nature), interdependencies and connectivity (globalization), demographic growth, and climate change and the loss of biodiversity (new challenges) occur in ever shorter and faster cycles, with profound and inequitable implications for individuals, institutions, and models of governance on a variety of scales, from the local to the global. An important issue to be examined is how a small country such as Portugal displays its capacity for adaptation in a world that is strongly dependent and interconnected.","PeriodicalId":38417,"journal":{"name":"Mediterranee","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47196304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, we will present a case study in Southern Europe, more specifically Portugal, based on a survey of individuals who have conducted their migration abroad, namely France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom, coming from a territory and a community with rare cases of international migration.
