This massive volume of Data has introduced the idea of Big Data, which has captured the attention of business and IT scholars as a blessing and a source of immense opportunities for large organizations. Securing this huge amount of data has become a great concern in the field of information and communication technology. In this paper, we have conducted two studies to observe the security threats for big data: (a) first study was carried out on Enron email dataset (that contains about half a million of emails) to investigate the security challenges of big data in the field of email communication; and (b) second study was carried out on 35 undergraduate students to observe how phishing email generation based on users' intention or behavior may break the security system. The study results showed that big data analysis helps phishers to understand the behavior or interest of email users that can help them (phisher or hackers) to generate the phishing sites/emails to create big data security threats.","PeriodicalId":384130,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Research and Innovation in Information Systems (ICRIIS)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129152665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, common understanding between the IT experts and the decision makers is imperative for a collaborative and comprehensive decision making. However, there are few studies that gauge the parties' potential in knowledge integration, especially in terms of communication. Hence, developing further understanding of the communication factors that influence the knowledge integration between IT experts and decision makers is essential. Literature analysis showed that four factors influence the knowledge communication conceptual model: sharer, knowledge, relationship, and institution. However, after examining the Malaysian public sector by using purposive sampling strategy, there is a need to enhance the factors by highlighting two new items: high-level thinking and type of knowledge. These additional factors would improve the comprehensive knowledge communication in organizations for the decision making process.","PeriodicalId":384130,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Research and Innovation in Information Systems (ICRIIS)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114333655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several studies have used expert estimates to quantify the relationships. However, these evolve dynamically and are context-specific. Therefore, there is a need to develop automatic knowledge acquisition systems. Here, the assumption was used that knowledge can be extracted from strategic documents in order to conduct a detailed analysis of causal strategic concepts. First, latent semantic analysis is employed to obtain an interpretable semantic model. Second, collocated causal concepts are used to model relationships among strategic concepts. This approach to generate fuzzy cognitive maps (FCMs) is semi-automatic, requiring theoretical background literature/domain experts to determine the direction of the causalities. The FCMs can subsequently be used to simulate the effects of strategic management and, thus, provide an effective decision support tool. Several innovation strategies of regions are used as a case study and it is demonstrated that the generated FCMs are consistent with expert opinions and fuzzy ANP method.","PeriodicalId":384130,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Research and Innovation in Information Systems (ICRIIS)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127029284","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By uploading personal photos in SNS, people tend to manage their relationships with friends and develop new relationships in SNS. Though users' behavior of showing private pictures is considered to be common, there is little research on what kind of contents attract people's attention and become popular in SNS. The aim of this study is to empirically examine what kind of private and personal pictures attract more likes on Instagram. Moreover, this paper aims to find a difference of pictures disclosed by different groups such as male, female, and celebrities. In conclusion, our results demonstrate that there is a difference among photos uploaded by different kinds of groups. Also, the more users show sexual pictures of themselves the more they tend to receive likes.","PeriodicalId":384130,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Research and Innovation in Information Systems (ICRIIS)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126305853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These communities provide platforms for knowledge sharing and creation among participated members and in turn lead to research innovation. In order to increase participation in research community, higher education institutions need to address important cultural elements that support their knowledge activities. However, lack of studies examining cultural determinants of research community participation which might impact the role of community as the facilitator of organizational learning. Based on review of literature, this paper proposes top management support for knowledge sharing, openness and structure as the factors that influence research community participation. The identification of these factors are taking into account the needs of these cultural antecedents for the growth of research communities in the context of higher education institutions. Finally, the contributions and future research are discussed.","PeriodicalId":384130,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Research and Innovation in Information Systems (ICRIIS)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129993500","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The significance of sharing knowledge is confirmed through enormous number of previous studies. However individuals are not always motivated to share their knowledge. There are different factors might encourage or hinder employees to engage in knowledge sharing. This study aims at investigating the impact of the management support of an organization on the individual motivation for knowledge sharing. The proposed model reflects the structure of the constructs under investigation. The study uses a sample of 157 respondents collected from the oil and gas sector. The data were collected through survey method using an online questionnaire. The measurements were analyzed using the reliability analysis to confirm their internal consistency. Furthermore, the correlation matrix was generated to check on the significance of the interrelationship and to ensure the nonexistence of collinearity issue among the model constructs. The study applies the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) techniques to validate the model and test the proposed hypotheses. The findings show that there is a strong positive relationship between management support and individual motivation for knowledge sharing. Therefore, the organizational support from top and middle management motivate employees to share their knowledge and experience with each other.","PeriodicalId":384130,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Research and Innovation in Information Systems (ICRIIS)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133414879","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The literature has identified a series of contradictory claims in the support and against the accurate prediction of the exchange rate. This article provides a new methodology to perform a comparative analysis of the three machine learning techniques, namely: Support Vector Machine, Neural Networks, and RandomForest. The experimental results demonstrate that the RandomForest is comparatively better than Support Vector Machine and Neural Networks, for accuracy and performance. This shows that the fluctuation in the Malaysian exchange rate can be evaluated accurately using RandomForest as compare to other techniques. Furthermore, this paper reveals that Malaysian specific commodities prices-crude oil, palm oil, rubber, and gold, are the strong dynamic parameters that influence Malaysian exchange rate. Hence, these results are beneficial for policy making, investment modeling, and corporate planning.","PeriodicalId":384130,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Research and Innovation in Information Systems (ICRIIS)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126444617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
