Protein S deficiency is explained as a condition characterized by reduced levels of protein S in the serum so that it makes the blood clot too easily. The purpose of this literature review is to give an update of protein S defficiency and the mechanism of protein s in hemostasis and atherosclerosis based on publish literature reference from various database. Protein S plays important role in hemostasis by regulating blood cloth process in the initiation phase of the extrinsic pathway as a TFPI cofactor or in the propagation phase, namely as an APC cofactor and independent activity of TFPIα and APC. Protein S deficiency is known to be associated with the occurrence of atherosclerosis via the Tyro3-Axl-Mer (TAM) receptor. The main clinical manifestations of the majority of patients with heterozygous mutations in the protein S (PROS1) gene are deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism that precipitate by VTE. Administration of anticoagulant drugs such as heparin in the form of low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) or unfractionated heparin, vitamin K antagonists (VKA), namely warfarin, or direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) can be selected as a management of protein S deficiency with VTE. Protein S has a central role in the coagulation prosses and its deficiency associated with atherosclerotic conditions.","PeriodicalId":382423,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Biologi Tropis","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122215030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In 2010, the global prevalence of anemia was 32.9%; that is, more than 2.2 billion people have anemia in the world. Macrocytic anemia refers to a condition that refers to macrocytosis, or when the mean corpuscular volume (MCV) is greater than 100 fL in moderate anemia, the hemoglobin is less than 12 g/dL, or the hematocrit is less than 36%. To identify the etiology and course of the disease in macrocytic anemia. This writing uses the method of studying the relevant literature related to the etiology and course of the disease, macrocytic anemia. The search engines used in this paper include Pubmed, Google Scholar, Research Gate, NCBI, and BMC. This article uses 22 articles that were used as references in its preparation. Megaloblastic anemia has etiologies in the form of vitamin B12 and folate deficiency, while non-megaloblastic anemia has etiologies such as alcohol consumption, MDS, hyperthyroidism, etc. The disease course of the two types of macrocytic anemia also differs based on the type, namely megaloblastic and non-megaloblastic. In general, macrocytic anemia is divided into megaloblastic anemia and non-megaloblastic anemia; these divisions have different etiologies dan pathogenesis.","PeriodicalId":382423,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Biologi Tropis","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133060979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Macro fauna is a group of large animals that live in the soil or water and have an important role in improving the physical, chemical and biological properties of the surrounding environment. Research on the diversity of molluscs (Gastropoda and Polecypoda) was conducted to determine the type, diversity, and relationship between Molluscs (Gastropoda and Polecypoda) and Mangrove. The number of individual Gastropods and Polecypods found in the mangrove area of the Cypress Beach is 9 species of Gastropods and 4 species of Polecypods. Diversity of Gastropods found in the mangrove area of Pantai Cemara was 1,009 in the moderate category, 0,405 in the diversity of Polecypoda was found in the low category, and mangrove diversity was categorized as moderate. The correlation between the diversity of Gastropods, Polecypoda and mangrove diversity is not significant because the environmental parameter value is salinity at the study site above 35 ppm which has a negative impact on mangroves due to negative osmotic pressure.\u0000 ","PeriodicalId":382423,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Biologi Tropis","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128592289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This literature review aims to provide related information, so that proper diagnosis and management for anemia in the elderly can be carried out to reduce morbidity and mortality rates. In this literature review we conducted a search on the PubMed database using the search keyword \"Anemia in The Elderly\". Diagnosis of anemia in the elderly begins with recognizing signs and symptoms which is then followed by laboratory examination to determine the etiology of the disease. Several other examinations such as spinal cord aspiration, endoscopy, or ultrasound can be done depending on the need. Management of anemia in the elderly is carried out by administering iron supplementation both orally and intravenously. Other treatments such as erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESA) and blood transfusions can be done according to indications. Establishing the diagnosis of anemia in the elderly can be done by anamnesis, physical examination, to laboratory examination.","PeriodicalId":382423,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Biologi Tropis","volume":"172 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124207583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Corals need a long time to recover. One effort to accelerate the growth rate of coral reefs is coral transplantation. This research was conducted from June to July 2022. The research location was on Tidung Island, Thousand Islands Regency, DKI Jakarta. The results showed that the physico-chemical conditions of the waters in general were still within the range of quality standards for marine biota, especially for coral reef ecosystems. the recorded survival percentage was 100%. The growth of coral types tends to increase with height gains ranging from 27-40 cm/week. Coral growth rate ranged from 0,01-0,02 cm/week. Overall the coral transplantation of A. Formosa carried out on Tidung Island can be said to be successful because the water conditions on Tidung Island are suitable for supporting coral transplantation activities.","PeriodicalId":382423,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Biologi Tropis","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123482879","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This literature review aims to provide related information, so that proper diagnosis and management can be carried out to reduce fetal morbidity and mortality rates. We searched from online databases and used review articles, research, guidelines from professional organizations, such as POGI from Indonesia, ACOG from the USA, and RCOG from the UK. Risk factor assessment and examination of fundal height can be the first steps in diagnosing IUGR. If suspicion is found, ultrasound (USG) and Doppler velocimetry can be performed. IUGR management mostly works in influencing the vasodilation of the placenta as the most common cause of IUGR events. Fetal Growth Restriction can be diagnosed immediately by screening for risk factors in pregnant women.","PeriodicalId":382423,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Biologi Tropis","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128894186","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study to analyze seagrass extract as an antibacterial Escherichia coli strain Multi Drug Resistance (MDR). This research was conducted in May-July 2023. Seagrass samples came from the waters of Ketapang Beach, Pesawaran Regency, Lampung Province. The seagrass samples were meserated into three different solvents, namely methanol, n-hexane and ethyl acetate. Antibacterial test was carried out with scratch paper dripped with seagrass extract against E.coli bacteria colonies. The results obtained from the collection of seagrass samples found at Ketapang Beach contained four species, namely Enhalus acoroides, Cymodocea rotundata, Thalassia hemprichii and Halodule pinifolia. The highest yield of seagrass extract was found in E.acoroides with 14% methanol. The zone diameters of seagrass extracts against E.coli strain MDR were higher in seagrass extract H.pinifolia with n-hexana of 6,13 ± 3,27 mm. The conclusion of this research is that H.pinifolia seagrass extract using n-hexana solvent has potential as an antibacterial of E.coli strains Multi Drug Resistance (MDR).","PeriodicalId":382423,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Biologi Tropis","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122308258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
