Given a confirmed lack of\u0000conventional teaching materials in several domains, the research questions addressed in this\u0000study relate to the principles and guidelines for initiating and facilitating foreign languages\u0000for specific purposes (LSP) vocabulary learning and to the most effective learning strategies\u0000and skills that students use while learning and expanding their LSP vocabulary. The\u0000beneficiary target group consists of first-year Romanian students who study Medicine and\u0000who have chosen French for Specific Purposes as their second language. Literature and\u0000practice have noted a significant deficiency in textbooks and grammar books for Romanian\u0000students who want to emigrate to French-speaking countries. This paper aims to demonstrate that\u0000food represents not only a platform for asserting personal, social, national and cultural\u0000differences, but also a means of establishing bonds between people in spite of these\u0000differences. Popa","doi":"10.24818/syn/2022/18/2.06","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24818/syn/2022/18/2.06","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of the present paper is to find out the essence of the discursive moment\u0000(understood as an act or an event having a strong social echo which gives rise to a massive\u0000amount of texts in the international sphere and in the press space) which was created by the\u0000Syrian crisis from August-September 2013 in the Romanian public diplomacy. To this\u0000purpose, we will use and analyse a heterogeneous corpus of texts belonging to different\u0000genres (press releases, interviews, public discourses) and we will outline the specialized\u0000expressions referring to international conflicts (recorded by the documents of international\u0000law) and the glosses of these expressions in order to depict the rhetoric and discursive\u0000manner in which they are used in these genres. We will also focus on the linguistic markers\u0000of the speakers taking part in the three-sided communication situation: the specialized\u0000discourse of International Law – mediation text – large audience. Higher education was not an\u0000exception, and all the stakeholders involved in the educational system had to cope with\u0000numerous challenges and adapt quickly to many changes in all areas of their activity:\u0000teaching and learning, evaluating and grading, interaction between teachers and students\u0000and among peers, or administrative issues. This article aims to discuss the first two elements\u0000from this list and to show how the shift to exclusively online academic interaction triggered\u0000reconfigurations of the evaluation systems used in universities. It will, additionally, suggest a list of benefits and drawbacks as\u0000seen from the perspective of language trainers caught in the overbearing landslide brought\u0000upon by the unprecedented conditions.
