It proposes a unified and standardized model for these dictionaries according to the future standard LMF (Lexical Markup Framework) ISO 24613. Thanks to its subtle and standardized structure, this model allows the development of extendable dictionaries on which generic interrogation functions adapted to the user’s needs can be implemented. This model has already been carried out on some existing Arabic dictionaries using the ADIQTQ (Arabic DIctionary Query Tool) system, which we developed for the generic interrogation of standardized dictionaries of Arabic.","PeriodicalId":378427,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Natural Language Processing and Cognitive Science","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123973010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We go then on to consider it within the framework of a neurobiological, computational model: Guided Propagation Networks (GPNs). “Selective facilitation”, a feature of the model, allows us to formulate and test various hypotheses accounting for the impeded access to a target word. We will illustrate and test them via a computer program simulating the TOT state. A comparison with other “spreading activation” models is proposed in the final discussion, as well as an evaluation of the proposed hypotheses.","PeriodicalId":378427,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Natural Language Processing and Cognitive Science","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114560889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, these kind of applications also present some problems. Many of those arise from the fact that who develops the interface does it according with his/her own idea of usability, which is sometimes far from the real interaction the interface will have to support; but even when a question is syntactically supported, it can be misunderstood and a wrong answer can be provided to the user. In this paper we present some simple tips that intend to minimize these situations.","PeriodicalId":378427,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Natural Language Processing and Cognitive Science","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128812784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While conventional cognitive research methods make use of think aloud protocols (TAP), we introduce and investigate UserActivity Data (UAD). UAD consists of the translator’s recorded keystroke and eye-movement behavior, which makes it possible to replay a translation session and to register the subjects’ comments on their own behavior during a retrospective interview. UAD has the advantage of being objective and reproducable, and, in contrast to TAP, does not interfere with the translation process. The paper gives the background of this technique and an example on a English-to-Danish translation. Our goal is to elaborate and investigate cognitively grounded basic translation concepts which are materialized and traceable in the UAD and which, in a later stage, will provide the basis for appropriate and targeted help for the translator at a given moment.","PeriodicalId":378427,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Natural Language Processing and Cognitive Science","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132987536","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Comparing to other ideal experimental settings, what we obtained from the World Wide Web evolve and respond more to real-world events. In this paper, our corpus consists of a collection of blog posts, which annotated as multi-label to make the classification of emotion more precise than the single-label set of basic emotions. Employing a maximum entropy classifier, our results show that the emotions can be clearly separated by the proposed method. Additionally, we show that the microaverage F1-scores of multi-label detection increase when the mount of available training data further increases.","PeriodicalId":378427,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Natural Language Processing and Cognitive Science","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121148846","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Developing mapping techniques for lexical ontologies of different languages is not only important for inter-lingual tasks but also can be implied to build lexical ontologies for a new language based on existing ones. In this paper we propose a two-phase approach for mapping a Persian lexical resource to Princeton's WordNet. In the first phase, Persian words are mapped to WordNet synsets using some heuristic improved linguistic approaches. In the second phase, the previous mappings are evaluated (accepted or rejected) according to the structural similarities of WordNet and Persian thesaurus. Although we applied it to Persian, our proposed approach, SBU methodology is language independent. As there is no lexical ontology for Persian, our approach helps in building one for this language too.","PeriodicalId":378427,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Natural Language Processing and Cognitive Science","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127636141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The need to process and manage the large amount of data is motivating the recent interest in semantic approaches. Data regarding vaccination records is a common in such systems. Also, being vaccination is a major area of concern in health policies, numerous information is available in the form of clinical guidelines. However, the information in these guidelines may be difficult to access and apply to a specific patient during consultation. The creation of computer interpretable representations allows the development of clinical decision support systems, improving patient care with the reduction of medical errors, increased safety and satisfaction. This paper describes the method used to model and populate a vaccination ontology and the system which recognizes vaccination information on medical texts.The system identifies relevant entities on medical texts and populates an ontology with new instances of classes. An approach to automatically extract information regarding inter-class relationships using association rule mining is suggested.","PeriodicalId":378427,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Natural Language Processing and Cognitive Science","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117180404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, we aim at extending the concreteness distinction from the lexical level to the sense level, and inducing a numerical index of concreteness for individual senses and words from dictionary definitions. The high overall agreement between human ratings and definition-induced ratings is encouraging for us to further simulate the distinction from more language resources. Such a simulated index for concreteness is believed to inform not only lexicography but also natural language processing tasks like automatic word sense disambiguation.","PeriodicalId":378427,"journal":{"name":"International Workshop on Natural Language Processing and Cognitive Science","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125576368","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
