This paper proposes a technique to retrieve the complex relative permittivity of a thin lossy coating supported by a dielectric substrate through transmission/reflection measurements in a rectangular waveguide. A 2-port network de-embedding method is applied to remove the EM contribution of the substrate, and the so obtained scattering parameters of the film are used in the modified Nicolson- Ross-Weir algorithm to extract the complex permittivity. The method, validated by simulations, is applied to characterize a glass-fiber reinforced composite coated with a thin coating made of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs)-polymer composite. Finally, the reflection properties of radar absorbing panels, constituted by several bilayers of GNP-coated GFRC are investigated in the range 12.4-18 GHz.","PeriodicalId":376960,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC EUROPE)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131081948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Couplings that can occur in casings, may have an impact on confidentiality, integrity and availability of information. Therefore, it is of high interest to have tools able to quantify these coupling. Because of the diversity of shapes and geometries of casings, a statistical approach may be considered. The proposed work has enabled to validate the ability of a commercial simulation software to produce reliable data in order to apply statistic tools in the future. This validation was performed thanks to the comparison of simulations and measurements on a computer chassis mock-up.","PeriodicalId":376960,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC EUROPE)","volume":"255 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133231825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the GHz range, when personal exposimeters (PEMs) are worn on the body, logged data are underestimated regarding real exposure conditions. This effect, defined as body shadow effect (BSE), is an uncertain factor associated with the use of PEMs. The intention is to improve the use of PEMs as measuring devices in compliance tests, avoiding the BSE. A well-defined experimental procedure is presented through the evaluation of an upper level of exposure in the 2.4 GHz band in indoor enclosures. It is recommended to keep the PEM separate from the body and in LoS with the radiation source.","PeriodicalId":376960,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC EUROPE)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130993597","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through simulation of the real secondary cables' layout, we proposed that cable's shielding sheath should be grounded only in protecting cabin for a single secondary cable harness with armor double-ended grounded. Through test on a four-segment secondary cable carried out in one UHVDC convertor substation, we found it's benefit to ensure shielding sheath be grounded both in phase B's operating cabinet and terminal box at least. Besides, for the purpose of suppressing interference on cores caused by ground potential rise, through comparison we can get one of the most effective grounding way is guaranteeing armor and shielding sheath grounded both in protecting cabin and terminal box, meanwhile, the armor and sheath among operating cabinet should be grounded only in phase B's cabinet.","PeriodicalId":376960,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC EUROPE)","volume":"315 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130176173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Only the differential mode (DM) voltage has been evaluated in this paper, however the setup is not limited in this respect. Common mode (CM) voltage can also be synchronously analyzed with this setup. Nevertheless, with respect to the to be measured amplitudes, DM voltages in this particular system offer a larger challenge and are addressed. The setup was developed with respect to Low-Frequency conducted EMI measurements in high power, fast switching systems using a low-cost solution.","PeriodicalId":376960,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC EUROPE)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116454430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The devices were tested against conducted threats in a bulk current injection (BCI) setup and radiated threats inside a TEM waveguide. Testing multiple devices of each type from different manufacturers and generations is necessary to acquire a representative overview of typical HPEM (High Power Electromagnetics) susceptibility thresholds of such systems. The tests were performed at frequencies ranging from 10 MHz to 3400 MHz whereas the failure behaviour of the tested devices strongly depends on frequency, polarization of the electromagnetic (EM) field and device type.","PeriodicalId":376960,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC EUROPE)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132811957","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To clarify the effect of the conducted disturbances below 150 kHz on ICT equipment, conducted immunity evaluation with test waves of a continuous wave (CW) or a CW with pulse modulation are specified in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. However, it is not clear that those test waves can simulate the features of conducted disturbances from a PCE with PWM/PFM control well enough to evaluate the conducted immunity characteristics of ICT equipment in an actual usage environment. To achieve such an evaluation, authors have considered the effect of PWM/PFM on conducted disturbances, and found that both disturbance peak amplitude and frequency fluctuated when PWM/PFM control was operated. In this paper, authors propose numerical expressions for conducted disturbances below 150 kHz from PCE, applying a formula for amplitude modulation (AM) to express the temporal fluctuation of peak amplitude, and a formula for frequency modulation (FM) to express the temporal fluctuation of peak frequency. We also discuss the creation of a waveform model using the proposed numerical expression, and its validation in a conducted immunity evaluation of a power line communication (PLC) system. The immunity evaluation indicated that the proposed model can evaluate the conducted immunity characteristics in an actual usage environment more accurately than using the conventional waves, CW or CW with pulse modulation.","PeriodicalId":376960,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC EUROPE)","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134184068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The yearly average of relative humidity in tropical countries, such as Indonesia, is higher than in subtropical countries. The data shows that the average relative humidity in 11 major cities in Indonesia from 2016–2017 is above 70%. Some IEC standards set different testing requirements for tropical and non-tropical climate condition. IEC 61000-4-2 as a standard for electrostatic discharge (ESD) immunity test only set a single range of relative humidity, 30% to 60%, as the climatic condition requirement. Although this requirement can be applied in the testing laboratory, however, this does not match with the actual climate condition in Indonesia as a tropical country. This paper investigates the effect of relative humidity in air discharge ESD testing to the performance of DVD-Player as the equipment under test (EUT). The measurement showed that the EUT experienced faster initial performance degradation in higher relative humidity. The finding result is expected to provide input to the ESD standard.","PeriodicalId":376960,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC EUROPE)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126094406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The principle of the method is to measure the system response in the frequency domain using a vector network analyzer and then apply the inverse fast Fourier transform to obtain the time-domain response. In the time domain response, the contribution of the target is identified and selected using Time-gating techniques.
