Abstract

Representation of the RF impedance properties of 18650 cells using a hybrid simulation approach has enabled the development of simple and efficient 3D electromagnetic models of a representative shielded multi-cell battery module over the frequency range from 100 kHz to 200 MHz. A behavioural model derived from the single module simulation has also been used to facilitate modelling of a representative larger scale multi-module battery assembly in order to demonstrate the simulation of radiofrequency impedance, as well as the coupling between the high-voltage and low-voltage power networks within a battery.
