The students came from six coeducational schools in two Local Government Areas in Kwara State. The tests were the Biology Students Mental Ability Test (r=0.87), the test measuring understanding of abstract concepts in biology (r=0.86), and instructional manuals on inquiry and project techniques. At the 0.05 significance level, three research questions and three hypotheses were examined. The collected data were analyzed using a covariance study, which found that there was a significant 3-way interconnection (interaction effect) between treatment, mental capacity, and gender and learners' accomplishment in abstract ideas in biology (F2,107) = 5.757, P> 0.05). Low mental ability female students (x ̅=24.00) had a lower mean score in project strategy than low mental ability male students ((x) ̅=24.43). In the inquiry strategy, low mental ability male students' mean score (x ̅ = 22.33) was superior to that of low mental ability female students (x ̅ = 20.75); in contrast, the conventional Strategy's mean score (x ̅ = 14.33) for low mental ability male students was superior to that of high mental ability female students (x ̅ = 13.47). The study's conclusions led to the recommendation that project and inquiry methodologies be used to raise students' mental ability and achievement in abstract concepts in biology, among others.","PeriodicalId":376426,"journal":{"name":"The Millennium University Journal","volume":"94 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140433686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current investigation used a cross-sectional research strategy and surveyed 327 randomly chosen first-year students from the University of Ibadan. Out of the total sample size, 169 individuals (51.7%) were identified as males, and 158 individuals (48.3%) were females. Data was collected via a self-report questionnaire with standardized scale items measuring peer pressure, self-efficacy, and family connectedness. The formulated hypotheses were tested using inferential statistics at a 0.05 significance level. The findings of this study indicate that self-efficacy, peer group pressure, and family connectedness collectively exert a substantial impact on risky sexual behavior. Specifically, peer group pressure exhibited a positive relationship with risky sexual behavior, while family connectedness demonstrated a negative. The analysis of the primary variables in this study demonstrated a significant and positive association between self-efficacy and risky sexual behavior, as well as between peer group pressure and risky sexual behavior. There is a need for further investigation into psychological variables as potential indicators of risky sexual behavior, given the growing prevalence of sexual engagement among adolescents and young adults.","PeriodicalId":376426,"journal":{"name":"The Millennium University Journal","volume":"33 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140434230","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also investigated differences in COVID-19 hesitancy of undergraduates based on gender, institution type, and academic discipline. A descriptive survey method was employed for the study. The study population comprised undergraduate students in tertiary institutions in Osun State. Three tertiary institutions were selected using a stratified sampling technique; three campuses were selected from a public university which included health and non-health-related courses. In addition, a public polytechnic and a private university were also selected from a total of five campuses. A convenient sampling technique was used to select 500 respondents. The Covid-19 Hesitancy Questionnaire (CHQ) instrument with reliability coefficients of 0.716, 0.872, and 0.834 using Split-half, Cronbach Alpha, and Spearman-Brown, respectively. The study revealed a high rate (81.8%) of COVID-19 hesitancy among Osun State tertiary institutions undergraduate students. Statistically, there was no significant difference in COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy of students based on gender and institution type [t (2,498) =0.65; P > 0.05] and [t (2,498) =0.13; P > 0.05]; whereas, a significant difference was found in the COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy of students based on academic discipline [t (2,498) =0.00; P < 0.05]. It is suggested that government should convey trusted information on the COVID-19 vaccine through the use of different media as well as improving vaccination services. There should be proactive and effective initiatives to fight misinformation regarding the COVID-19 vaccine.","PeriodicalId":376426,"journal":{"name":"The Millennium University Journal","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127743030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three hundred (300) respondents constituted the study's sample. The independent and dependent variables were measured with validated instruments with a 0.85 reliability coefficient and the data obtained was analyzed using percentage and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) Statistical method. Two research hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The result showed that there was a significant relationship between self-esteem and marital harmony among secondary school teachers (r= .866; p<0.05). The result also showed a significant relationship between attachment style and marital harmony among secondary school teachers (r= .848; p<0.05). Given these findings, it was recommended that the school management make a joint collaborative effort with the school guidance counsellors to ensure that the teachers maintain and sustain good healthy self-esteem. Also, the guidance and counselling programs should be organized by the school guidance counsellors for married teachers to equip them with knowledge and skills on how to carry themselves while on the lifetime commitment of marriage and to know the role that each party in a family set-up plays to enhance their marital harmony.","PeriodicalId":376426,"journal":{"name":"The Millennium University Journal","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122828555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, identifying the factors that affect employees’ work performance is also a crucial matter. This study considers working hours, co-workers' behavior, gender discrimination, promotion system, and manager’s attitude as the factors affecting employees’ work performance. On the other hand, creative knowledge and critical thinking capacity, understanding job responsibility and carrying out assigned duties, interest in assigning duties, completion time for assigning duties, and the capability of adaption to changes in job responsibility are considered the determinants of employees’ work performance. A total of 250 questionnaire data sets were collected using a convenience sampling technique from bank employees in Chittagong and Dhaka cities in Bangladesh. The ordinal regression analysis technique was applied to explore the impacts of factors on employees’ work performance. The study found that co-workers’ behavior, gender discrimination, and a manager’s attitude have significant impacts on employees’ work performance. Although the impacts of co-workers’ behavior and manager’s attitude have positive impacts on employees’ work performance, the impact of gender discrimination is negative. Moreover, the impact of working hours and the promotion system have negative impacts which were statistically insignificant according to findings. Finally, the Pearson correlation test results suggest that there is no multi-collinearity problem in the model.","PeriodicalId":376426,"journal":{"name":"The Millennium University Journal","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121176235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is an urgent need to consider sustainable solutions that are able to reduce energy consumption cost. In air conditioning field, the rise of the variable refrigerant flow systems has made big progress. This study focuses on cost analysis to evaluate the economic feasibility of conventional, VRF and VRF duct type air conditioning system. The hourly and daily energy consumption of both systems were characterized based on corresponding outdoor air temperatures. Results showed that VRF air conditioning system is 15% less costly than conventional air condition. Though VRF duct system is less costly than conventional VRF, the standard rooftop height of the studied building doesn’t support VRF duct type installation. Besides the open ducting line up will not look good and creating cover for these duct will pile up the cost further. The analysis also shows that the VRF system uses 17% and 73% less energy than the rooftop System in cooling and heating seasons, respectively. The implementation of this pilot result on National level will promote the use of sustainable energy technologies such as VRF system.","PeriodicalId":376426,"journal":{"name":"The Millennium University Journal","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125237652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
