But, we are witnesses that with the intensive development of information technologies circumstances in this setting have been also intensively changed. The knowledge has changed. The students have also changed. They prefer instant information, they want to see their knowledge applied. Therefore system had to be changed through last 15-20 years - from teaching to educational system. This Education Reform involves: - A shift from the lecture form to a student-centered approach to learning. - A shift in the paradigm from measuring educational attainment to measuring of competencies. - A change in emphasis from focus on content in curriculum to a problem solving in new situation. In this communication we present our results done in this setting in cooperation with our colleagues and students from the University of Belgrade and the State University of Novi Pazar. More precisely, we analyze the role of Electronic teaching accessories, computers and software in the development of some competencies (spatial abilities, problem solving, critical way of thinking, etc.) as well as some soft skills within Geometry courses. Some of these results have obtained through international projects: - Multimedia Technology for Mathematics and Computer Science Education, financially supported by DAAD, http://poincare.matf.bg.ac.rs/~daad/ - Geometry Education for Future Architects, financially supported by DAAD,http://www.math.tu-dresden.de/~lordick - Bokan, N., Ljucovic, M. and Vukmirovic, S., Computer-aided teaching of descriptive geometry, J. However, developments across a range disciplines have seen a new attention given to the question of white ethnicity and the meaning of whiteness. This paper considers three discernable approaches to critical whiteness studies and is focused on developing a productive dialogue between the materialist, deconstructionist and psychoanalytic frameworks identified. The author argues that these repertoires differ in seeking to abolish, deconstruct or rethink the meaning of whiteness and white identities as they currently stand. It is suggested that each of these positions can inspire an interrogation of white identities capable of disturbing the more traditional focus of race enquiry to engender new theory and political practices in the field. The article concludes by pointing to some of the limits of white ethnicities research and argues for more international approaches to offset the parochial possibilities of a ‘white studies’ agenda. It is suggested that new geographies of whiteness can displace the construction of critical whiteness studies as a Western pursuit and open up researchers to a global interpretation and postcolonial understanding of such race markers.","PeriodicalId":376217,"journal":{"name":"The SAGE Encyclopedia of Higher Education","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130390005","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
