These estimates need to account for within cluster correlations and to accommodate substantial variations in cluster size. The growing literature on hierarchical regression modeling (HRM) and its applications to health services and outcomes research includes work that is relevant to a broad set of subject-matter and methodologic questions. We focus on two illustrative examples: the HRM approach to profiling of medical care providers; and the use of HRM in the estimation and proper interpretation of the effect of covariates.","PeriodicalId":375405,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 23rd International Conference on Information Technology Interfaces, 2001. The external systems, therefore, have to be substituted with the power system equivalents. In this paper the possibilities of using an artificial neural network as the external power system equivalent is explored, to be used for load flow and contingency analysis within the internal power system. The experiment is performed on a standard IEEE 24-node network which is, for the purposes of testing, divided into two systems (the internal and the external) and the external system is modeled by a neural network. The results are presented and discussed.","PeriodicalId":375405,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 23rd International Conference on Information Technology Interfaces, 2001. Rough sets are based on the theory of sets. The main applications of rough set theory are attribute reduction, rule generation and prediction. Many examples of applications of rough sets to process control, economics, medical diagnosis, biochemistry, environmental science, biology, chemistry psychology, conflict analysis and other fields can be found in (Lin and Cercone, 1997; Polkowski and Skowron, 1998; Slowinski, 1992).
