Before designing these reports, students are given instruction in various aspects of writing. An evaluation guide not only pinpoints all possible errors in the design of the report but also serves as a checklist to be used while producing the report. The stages of designing the report are made analogous to the states in a laboratory project that moves from research and design to analysis and implementation.
