EPCC is a teaching program for 'Technology & Communication' (8 sem., M.S.) and 'Technology & Linguistics' (4 sem., Ph.D.) at the Eindhoven University of Technology. The Ph.D. stage involves specialization in terminology and business negotiations (high-technology, multiculture, multilanguage). The M.S. stage offers engineering and advanced communication (native and non-native technical writing and languages, high-technology negotiations, psycholinguistics). Industrial internships for communication research are provided.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":374472,"journal":{"name":"IPCC '88 Conference Record 'On the Edge: A Pacific Rim Conference on Professional Technical Communication'.","volume":"41 7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1988-10-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127238398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Four aspects of the professionalization process are discussed: establishment of a professional association, change of name, development and promulgation of a code of ethics, and prolonged political agitation.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":374472,"journal":{"name":"IPCC '88 Conference Record 'On the Edge: A Pacific Rim Conference on Professional Technical Communication'.","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1988-10-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123723593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An integrated procedures system addresses the root cause by using hierarchy and networking to empower both management and procedure users. Attention is given to areas in the test development process where problems may occur, problems that pull the focus of the test away from the user. These new systems integrate writers, reviewers, and users into the production and delivery processes with a network of easy-to-use computers. The new systems combine selected capabilities from advanced word processing, desktop publishing, and database software to produce procedures that are correct, complete, consistent, clear, and concise. It is concluded that prototypes are available for each of the production system capabilities described. Currently no single system incorporates all of these capabilities.
