The artificial agents are split into several independent subpopulations based on the original structure of the ABC, and the proposed communication strategy provides the information flow for the agents to communicate in different subpopulations. Three benchmark functions are used to test the behavior of convergence, the accuracy, and the speed of the proposed method. According to the experimental result, the proposed communicational strategy increases the accuracy of the ABC on finding the near best solution.","PeriodicalId":373949,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth International Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computing","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132447919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the test period the corrosion rate and the water quality factors were monitored. Based on the test data, an intelligent prediction model of cooling water corrosion rate based on least squares support vector machine (LS-SVM) is constructed, in which the water quality factors related with corrosion were selected as input variables and the corrosion rate was selected as output variable. The results show that the LS-SVM model is pithily, and it has better extensive capability than traditional methods. The new method is effective and reliable, and it can be viewed as a new approach to advance the development of cooling water treatment technology and improve the prediction accuracy of the corrosion rate.","PeriodicalId":373949,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth International Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computing","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130835008","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed algorithm incorporates fuzzy velocity updating strategy, which can characterize to some extent the uncertainty on the true optimality of the global best position, into particle swarm optimization (PSO) so as to avoid the premature convergence and to maintain the swarm diversity. In addition, a crowding distance computation operator for promoting solution diversity and an efficient mutation operator for searching feasible non-dominated solutions are adopted. The proposed algorithm is tested on various benchmark problems taken from the literature and evaluated with standard performance metrics by comparison with NSGA-II. It is found that the proposed algorithm does not have any difficulties in achieving well-spread Pareto optimal solutions with good convergence to true Pareto optimal front.","PeriodicalId":373949,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth International Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computing","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131327797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The synchronous switching control strategies research can effectively reduce the transient effect and improve power quality. The transient operation process of vacuum circuit breaker is analyzed by deriving the system voltage and current expressions when vacuum circuit breaker switching reactive compensation capacitor bank. The theory switching phases without transient transition process are obtained by referring to the voltage and current expression. The optimum switching capacitor banks phase and new synchronous switching control strategies of different connections capacitor bank are given by synthetically considering closing action time dispersion, pre-strike characteristic and opening arcing time of vacuum circuit breaker. The voltage and current waveforms when vacuum circuit breaker randomly, according to traditional and new synchronous switching strategies switching ungrounded Y capacitor banks connection are simulated in the article. Simulation results show that the inrush current under the new synchronous switching control strategies can be reduced 1.2p.u.and closing voltage has no oscillation transition process, that is, directly accesses to steady-state. So the theoretical analysis and synchronous switching control strategies in the article are verified correctly.","PeriodicalId":373949,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth International Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computing","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115026132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One popular and public available method, FAST (FMRIB Automatic Segmentation Tool) has been widely used for automatic brain tissue segmentation for this purpose. This paper investigates limitations of this software algorithm on implementation and further develops a new approach to automatic MR brain tissue classification. The proposed new technique first implements an unsupervised training sample generation process (UTSGP) which includes a Pixel Purity Index (PPI) to generate an initial set of training samples that are further refined by a Support Vector Machine. The resulting training samples are then as a set of training samples for an Iterative Fisher’s Linear Discriminant Analysis (IFLDA) which implements FLDA iteratively to improve classification. In order to conduct a fair comparison synthetic images are used for performance evaluation. Experimental results show that our proposed technique is superior in practical implementation to this software algorithm in several aspects of generalization ability, flexibility of choosing number of classes to be classified, avoidance of inconsistent results caused by different initial conditions.","PeriodicalId":373949,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth International Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computing","volume":"222 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132587915","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
