The model uses the effective gate bias to replace the gate bias in the current expression. This effective gate bias ensures smooth transition between tile strong and weak conduction regions. The model circumvents the discontinuity inherent in the MOS3 subthreshold region model. The model is applied to different geometry (PD) NMOS and PMOS SOI devices over very wide temperature ranges (25-300/spl deg/C). The model results are closely correlated the measured results at all temperatures.","PeriodicalId":373470,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of First International Caracas Conference on Devices, Circuits and Systems","volume":"199 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124464389","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper resumes the application of such techniques to the insulation coordination design of a power distribution network that serves an extensive zone of oil exploitation in Venezuela. The land has very high resistivity and intense lightning activity (high ceramic level), which consequently, causes elevated failure rates on the circuits. The actual failures rates of the circuits were examined, considering the structural configuration and design parameters and then a set of the more attractive technical options for the values and characteristics of the more influential parameters over the failure rate due to atmospheric overvoltages of distribution circuits were specified in order to get a desired reliability level for the network.","PeriodicalId":373470,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of First International Caracas Conference on Devices, Circuits and Systems","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116324199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Energy Distribution Automation (DA), where the power line is used for communication, and the processing is highly distributed is our application domain for assessments of new technologies for these kind of systems. In this paper we propose a new approach where Agents interact, trying to solve problems in a distributed and cooperative manner. An Agent Oriented Paradigm is introduced for the design of such complex systems and a basic agent architecture is outlined. Some problems of this approach are highlighted and the conclusions are finally focused on further research and implementation issues.","PeriodicalId":373470,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of First International Caracas Conference on Devices, Circuits and Systems","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121591373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Users are mostly interested by methods for parameter identification with a little additional expenditure in device components, but a higher expenditure in software components is usually accepted. The paper describes a parameter identification method by a.c. induction machines, based on a transient run-up test. No additional load or additional speed measurement are required. The supply voltage and the transient behaviour of the stator current during run-up test have to be measured only. For the parameter identification a nonlinear optimization procedure is used. Practical results with small single-phase capacitor motors and three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors are presented.","PeriodicalId":373470,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of First International Caracas Conference on Devices, Circuits and Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129094154","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such systems integrate conveniently different kind of generators and usually they are constituted by traditional electric energy plants as diesel generating set combined with renewable energy generators. A software for the energetic/economic evaluation of the performances of hybrid systems as a function of their configuration and components characteristics as well as of the renewable energy sources availability is presented. Such a package has been developed as part of the Hybrid Simulator Facility built under an EC-JOULE II project. Tests performed on the facility are presented to show the capability of these kind of systems to cover the needs of small communities. Also giving a very good quality of the electric service. Furthermore it is demonstrated how to reduce the cost of the kWh with respect to the one produced by diesel stations for electric energy production in isolated communities. Finally, a simulation relative to the Greek island of Angathonisi is reported and the results show the fuel savings obtained with the integration of a 20 kW wind turbine and 10 kWp PV field.","PeriodicalId":373470,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of First International Caracas Conference on Devices, Circuits and Systems","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129016765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method used for this purpose is based on the calculation of the temperature developed in each component of the cable in the multicircuit system during a certain period of time. The load cycle associated to the cable system is known during this period of time. This method also takes into account the thermal transients suffered by power cables stressed to variable load cycles. The calculation of the temperature is done by means of thermal equivalent models of the phenomenon. In these models, different thermal parameters of the cables and trenches, thermal sources of each cable, and the effect between cables of the same circuit and cables of adjacent circuits located on the same trench are considered. The method mentioned considers the solving of numerical integration of differential equations associated to the thermal circuits and the multiconductor electric circuit, in order to determine the loses due to circular currents. In this manner, it is possible to include different types of cable (e.g. single-pole and three-pole cables. Pipe-Type cables, etc.) and grounding settings metallic shields and armors. The application of the method in a real life case is also exposed; the potential of the developed tool is also demonstrated.","PeriodicalId":373470,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of First International Caracas Conference on Devices, Circuits and Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121839559","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
