A total of 180 day-old Marshal strain unsexed broiler chicks were used for this experiment. There were six dietary treatments of 30 birds per treatment and 3 replicate of 10 birds each in a complete randomized design. Each differently processed Jatropha curcas kernel meals were used to replace one-third of the soybean meal in the control diet. The results suggest that Heat treatment showed superior impact in reduction of atinutritional factors, however, with minimal effect on the saponin and phorbol esters present in the Jatropha curcas kernel meals. Varying levels of villi erosion, loss of mucosal glands and infiltration by inflammatory cells was observed in the small intestine while the nephro-histopathology showed varying levels of necrosis, disruption and degeneration of kidney cells. It can be concluded that broiler chicks cannot tolerate 10.33% inclusion level of differently processed Jatropha curcas kernel meals However, further experiment should be carried out to examine the performance of broiler chicks on bio-treated samples of the processed Jatropha curcas kernel meals.","PeriodicalId":372944,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Animal Science Advances","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133230704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data were collected on various socio-economic characteristics affecting farmers’ output which include: sex, age, farming experience, level of education, household size, nature of involvement, etc. The data were analyzed using analytical tools like descriptive statistics, budgetary analysis and regression analysis. The descriptive statistics covers socioeconomic characteristics of the respondents assessed using frequency distribution tables. A model aquaculture South Ghour Department namely Ghour Al Safi at Karak Governate was purposively selected for the study. The findings of the study showed that the majority of fish farmers are in middle age group, education up to middle level, larger family size, in general categories, with sufficient experience in aquaculture, medium level of social participation, smaller pond area with single ownership and very low level of family income. These socio-economic characteristics of fish farmers must be taken into account for formulation; designing and successful implementation of developmental programmes.","PeriodicalId":372944,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Animal Science Advances","volume":"226 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115586139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The BCS was measured at calving, using a 1 to 5 point scale according to the Edmonson (1989) method. Blood samples were collected by jugular venous at 30 d, 40 d, 50 d and 60 d postpartum (10 days of interval). Serum hormonal analysis were determined by chimiluminescent Immuno-Assay (CLIA). Changes in progesterone concentration were exploited to assess the resumption of ovarian cyclicity. The results showed a significant increase in progesterone and estradiol -17β serum levels during postpartum period. The correlation analysis showed that P4concentration in cows was positively correlated with their BCS at 30 d, 40 d, 50 d and 60 d postpartum (r =0.630; r = 0.603; r = 0.622 and r = 0.467 respectively; P<0.01). Additionally, the BCS at calving was positively correlated with estradiol -17β concentration at 30 d (r= 0.628); 40 d (r= 0.612); 50 d (r= 0.444) and 60 d (r=0.294) (P<0.01). Furthermore, BCS at calving was strongly but negatively correlated with CCI (r= 0.704; P<0.01). The results of the current study provide an evidence of a negative correlation between calving conception interval and secretion of P4 and E2.","PeriodicalId":372944,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Animal Science Advances","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125026049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each treatment was replicated four. Growth traits were recorded; digestive traits and litter moisture were measured. Supplementation of processed rice hulls (PRH) was associated with increases in daily body weight gain and feed conversion ratio and decrease in feed intake throughout the experimental period (P<0.01). As processing levels increased, the relative weight of digestive organs was increased (P<0.01). Supplementation of processed rice hulls resulted in increases in the intestinal villus height, villus thickness, villus height: crypt depth ratio and number of goblet cells, and decrease in litter moisture (P<0.01). These findings indicated that each RH variety possesses different chemical and physicochemical properties upon processing levels that is suitable for applications in poultry feeds. The Inclusion of 3% PRH in feed resulted in the greatest improvements in quail performance, intestinal morphology, and litter moisture.","PeriodicalId":372944,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Animal Science Advances","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128228994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The eating quality and physico-chemical properties of the patties were studied. Cooking yield, pH, water holding capacity and moisture content of patties increased significantly (p 0.05) from patties formulated with 3% SDPF. Fat content of the control was significantly (p<0.05) higher compared to the SDPF-treated patties. Palatability tests revealed that the 9% level of using SDPF resulted in significantly more tender (p<0.05) patties because the SDPF-treated patties retained significantly higher (p<0.05) moisture than their whole pork counterparts during cooking. The costs of producing 1kg of pork patties reduced by 9.07%, 10.41% and 12.68% when patties were produced with 3%, 6% and 9% SDPF respectively. Thus, SDPF has very promising potential in the manufacture low-fat meats.","PeriodicalId":372944,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Animal Science Advances","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129609469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
