At the same time, an increasing number of organizations are using a temporary project-based way of working, thus creating dynamic systems in which projects are not merely tools for performing processes, but also strategic options for dealing with complex business environments. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that significant focus is being placed on the link between these concepts. With the aim of examining applications of digital technologies in project management, a comprehensive review was conducted on 188 academic articles published between 1991 and 2023 and indexed in the Web of Science database. Bibliometric and systematic literature review methods were used through co-occurrence, along with visual representation of interconnected data. The results highlight the prominent research topics in the field – challenges and opportunities for project management in the digital age, advanced project management in construction projects, artificial intelligence and project success, and managing information and production systems. Finally, potential research directions include the critical importance of striking a balance between technology and human relations to achieve success in modern project management in the midst of the Industry 4.0 era.","PeriodicalId":371624,"journal":{"name":"European Project Management Journal","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135824942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These projects can include a different range of activities, such as developing and implementing new strategies, launching new programs, creating a new fan engagement program to increase support and loyalty, and more. This study examines the influence of sport’s fan engagement on trust, satisfaction, and loyalty in sports club social networks. Our findings suggest that both fan identification with the sports club's brand and motivation play significant roles in determining the level of engagement. Specifically, we have found that consumers who have a strong identification with the club and are extrinsically motivated to engage with the club's social network exhibit higher levels of trust, satisfaction, and loyalty. These results underscore the importance of fostering a strong sense of identification and motivation among fans in order to promote positive consumer attitudes towards sports club social networks. The paper provides recommendations for sports club marketing managers on how to use social networks to improve project’s success.","PeriodicalId":371624,"journal":{"name":"European Project Management Journal","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125402117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many researchers consider this period to be a new technological paradigm or a digital economy. The widespread digitalisation of production and management processes not only affects the processes of global globalization, but also contributes to the rapid growth of the economy, enhancing living standards. While the global economy identifies some common characteristics of the development of the digital economy, there is no consistent methodological approach. The Russian Federation in the world scores to evaluate the development of the digital economy, in general, is in the group of developing countries. Therefore, at the state level, the digital transformation is recognized as a strategic priority for Russia's developers. Since 2014, the development strategy of Russia has been the National Technology Initiative (NTI), a long-term program to create new markets and lay the groundwork for Russia's technological leadership by 2035. Its first steps served as a foundation for the adoption of the national project “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation”. This study analyses the implementation of joint government and corporate efforts in this direction. It was revealed that the main NTI operators are both state institutions (state investment bank “Bank VEB”, “Innovation Promotion Fund”), and business partially government-owned communities – Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI), Russian Venture Company (RVC). Based on the analysis of NTI roadmaps and events, a model of institutions to support the digital economy in Russia has been built. The conclusion concerns the overall support of the State during the construction of an ecosystem of technological entrepreneurship. At the same time, there is a certain differentiation of the NTI infrastructure, tending towards large subjects of the Russian Federation with a high level of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) development - Moscow and St. Petersburg.","PeriodicalId":371624,"journal":{"name":"European Project Management Journal","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114843309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the obvious rea-sons are the wish of companies to save production costs and reduce the time to market. Besides this, the latest years COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the transition of many software development projects into a geographically distributed environment where most employees work remote-ly. Using Agile practices in such a setup brings a lot of new challenges. This paper presents a systematic literature re-view of the studies that discuss the use of Agile methods in globally distributed projects, particularly when team members work remotely or from home. Using our search criteria, we found 307 papers, of which 20 were relevant to our research. The results outlined in this review will help re-searchers and practitioners in understanding the challenges involved in using Agile methods by geographically distributed remotely working teams and figure out how to tackle these challenges to increase the efficiency of project management.","PeriodicalId":371624,"journal":{"name":"European Project Management Journal","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123932147","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Given the importance of this industry in providing critical infrastructure needed to enhance the quality of life of all global citizens, this paper presented the results of a systematic review of empirical studies that have investigated construction project performance over the Covid-19 era spanning from 2020 to 2023. The Systematic Quantitative Assessment Technique was used to identify and assess 54 empirical articles from six of the most renowned academic publishers in order to answer three important research questions: 1) What was the geographical spread of construction project performance articles from 2020-2023? 2) Which data collection methods were utilized by these articles? 3) What themes were investigated by these articles? The review revealed that Asia had the most representation while South America had no representation at all, thus representing a geographical gap which future studies should address. The review also revealed that most studies relied on surveys to collect project performance data with relatively fewer studies using qualitative methods or adopting a mixed methods approach, with this representing a methodological gap to be addressed by future studies. Finally, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the performance of construction firms was the most investigated theme, while the strategies firms can use to ‘future proof’ themselves against future pandemics or other unexpected disasters was the least investigated theme.","PeriodicalId":371624,"journal":{"name":"European Project Management Journal","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125390800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article examines how the Covid-19 pandemic affected project duration, progress, and completion in Botswana. The study's goals were met by surveying 105 participants using a questionnaire. The study details covid-19's disruptions and delays. Extraneous variables' impact on project success or failure were analysed. The goal was to clarify internal and external factors on active projects during the Covid-19 pandemic. Covid-19 negatively affected many projects. Pandemics cause ineffective communication and coordination, cessation of physical activities, and complicated work processes. The Covid-19 Pandemic disrupted supply chain of raw material for many projects. Late deliveries, fluctuating prices, and contractors' inability to finish on time pushed back project deadlines. Workers were less productive. Similar problems arose with project funding. These factors caused project interruptions, delays, and completion in Botswana during Covid-19.","PeriodicalId":371624,"journal":{"name":"European Project Management Journal","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116125204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research uses a qualitative methodology to develop a paradigm for organizational context–project adaptations in project-based organizations. The framework defines PBOs’ activities to establish their organizational context, modify processes, and create relationships to help and support the project’s needs. We used a representative sampling approach where cross-sectional, semi-structured interviews interviewed twenty-six highly experienced senior project management experts. Our findings, organized according to the blocks we used to categorize the organizational context literature: culture, strategy, structure, processes, power dynamics, state/condition, and time, provide practitioners with a background to shape their project context and academics with a basis for further theorizing.","PeriodicalId":371624,"journal":{"name":"European Project Management Journal","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127923593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
