In this paper, the processing method of laser and heat treatment is used to prepare the microstructure of imitation bottle grass on the surface of 7075 aluminum alloy. Under the premise of no chemical modification, the surface of the sample is made superhydrophobic, and the contact angle reaches more than 150°. At the same time, based on the special high and low rib structure of bottle grass, combined with the principle of contact line pinning and the classical nucleation theory, the bionic surface exhibits excellent water-collecting performance. After the water collection experiment test, it was found that the water collection amount of the prepared samples measured in the atmospheric environment was 7.40 times higher than that of the polished surface. Finally, the contribution of the hydrophobicity of the biomimetic surface to the water-harvesting ability is analyzed.","PeriodicalId":370631,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE International Conference on Manipulation, Manufacturing and Measurement on the Nanoscale (3M-NANO)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126459377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

AFM probes often wear during the use of AFM, and the change of tip morphology will inevitably affect the accuracy of AFM measurement and processing. Therefore, it is necessary to characterize the morphology of AFM probe with wear. Since the tip size of AFM probe is nanoscale, traditional measurement methods cannot be used for observation, and the current common AFM tip morphology characterization methods are difficult to simultaneously meet the accuracy and convenience of measurement. In this paper, a method to characterize the tip radius of AFM worn probe was proposed. Nanoindentation operation was carried out on soft PVC sheet with worn probe, and Hertz model fitting was performed on the collected indentation loading curve to obtain the tip radius. In this paper, the elastic deformation depth of soft PVC sheet nanoindentation point is determined to be about 30 nm by finite element simulation, which is convenient for Hertz model fitting of elastic deformation segment of indentation loading curve in the follow-up. The AFM probe with different wear degree was measured by this characterization method, and the feasibility of this characterization model was verified based on SEM measurement results, and the scope of application of this characterization model was also proposed. This characterization method can realize the in-situ measurement of tip radius of AFM worn probe, and the tip will not be further worn during the measurement process, which can realize the accuracy and convenience of AFM tip measurement.","PeriodicalId":370631,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE International Conference on Manipulation, Manufacturing and Measurement on the Nanoscale (3M-NANO)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126501231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our study, atomic force acoustic microscopy (AFAM) was used to study the cell responses on substrate stiffness patterns. The nano-stripe stiffness pattern was imprinted on SU-8 film. Our results show that AFAM acoustic images can detect both the cell surfaces and the stiffness pattern on the SU-8 substrate. We find that the cells significant deformation on the patterned stiffness substrate. Moreover, when using cytochalasin-D to interfere actin filaments, there is a significantly decrease in cell area for cells seeded on the patterned stiffness substrate. This study provides new information for the design and characterization of extracellular matrix interfaces, and contributes to the understanding of cell-substate interactions.","PeriodicalId":370631,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE International Conference on Manipulation, Manufacturing and Measurement on the Nanoscale (3M-NANO)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121247152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In severe cases, chatter can reduce productivity and cause huge economic losses. A chatter detection index based on the wavelet packet energy entropy (WPEE) is put forward in this paper. To determine the feasibility of the index, the acceleration sensor is used to obtain the vibration signal of machining. Four tests that can be separated into two parts (stable and chatter) are selected to discuss. The results demonstrate that the proposed index can effectively distinguish chatter phenomenon in the milling process.","PeriodicalId":370631,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE International Conference on Manipulation, Manufacturing and Measurement on the Nanoscale (3M-NANO)","volume":"581 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133083727","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For single crystal silicon, the nonlinear evolution of SAWs and the resulting dynamic fracture depend on the free-surface orientation and direction of propagation. To investigate the effect of the geometries on behavior of SAWs, we performed molecular dynamics simulations of the nonlinear evolution of SAWs on the single crystal silicon surface. The second-order nonlinear coefficient is used to quantify the degree of nonlinear evolution of SAWs. In addition, the critical strength of the {111} plane of silicon is evaluated based on the SAW nonlinear evolution method.","PeriodicalId":370631,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE International Conference on Manipulation, Manufacturing and Measurement on the Nanoscale (3M-NANO)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133563984","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Developments of formation and evolution of the LIPSS period have received extensive attention because of its great application value and complex physical background. It is well known that increase of single pulse energy density and cumulative pulse number will eventually lead LIPSS period to be fuzzy or disappearance. In this paper, a new phenomenon has been found that the LIPSS appears damaged or disappears in the medium laser fluence range from $boldsymbol{23.4} mathbf{mJ}/mathbf{cm}^{boldsymbol{2}}$ to $boldsymbol{52.6} mathbf{mJ}/mathbf{cm}^{boldsymbol{2}}$, in addition, the opposite law of LIPSS evolution was observed in this experiment. According to the experimental results, this phenomenon is attributed to the difference of femtosecond laser ablation mechanisms in different laser fluence intervals, and the effects of these two mechanisms on the LIPSS periodic evolution are discussed. This study extends our deep understanding of the mechanism of femtosecond laser-induced LIPSS formation, and provides a certain reference value for future application transformation and reasonable control of experimental parameters to optimize the preparation of LIPSS.","PeriodicalId":370631,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE International Conference on Manipulation, Manufacturing and Measurement on the Nanoscale (3M-NANO)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115267871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here a universal method based on multi-feature fusion and discrimination correlation filtering (DCF) is suggested to improve the accuracy of PO estimation. A continuous convolution operator is first introduced to achieve multi-feature fusion and sub-pixel localization for high-precision location estimation. Then, by decoupling the translation and rotation with Fourier-Mellin transformation, the orientation information is expressed using rotation features retrieved. Finally, the mutual correction mechanism is used to merge position estimation and orientation estimation into a framework. In experiments, 4 pixels of position estimation error and 0.3 degrees of orientation estimation error were achieved.","PeriodicalId":370631,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE International Conference on Manipulation, Manufacturing and Measurement on the Nanoscale (3M-NANO)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128038600","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
