The setup consists of a physical power line model scaled to laboratory conditions with two orthogonal measuring coils installed on one support pole underneath phase conductors. Voltages induced in the coils are amplified and filtered out by using analog electrical circuits and are fed to a digital data acquisition board. The sampled voltages are digitally processed by employing a generalized fault detection method previously developed by the authors. In this paper the main steps for designing the measuring coils, analog amplifying and filtering circuits are described in detail. The developed laboratory setup is verified by experiments for different shunt and series faults.","PeriodicalId":369921,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Industrial Electronics and Applications (INDEL)","volume":"337 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115968586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Common types of leaks found in the home are worn toilet flappers, dripping faucets, and other leaking valves. This study proposes the development of a smart home system for saving water in the toilet tank by using a controller that opens and closes the valve, detects water leaking and toilet overflow. When leak or overflow is detected, the device will perform the corresponding operation and indicate the type of error by lighting the specific LED (light-emitting diode). The process for measuring water level and leak detection as well as device implementation is given by this paper.","PeriodicalId":369921,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Industrial Electronics and Applications (INDEL)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116507572","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After the detailed analyses of the optimization problem, the PSO based algorithm is developed and verified both on a simulation and laboratory model. Results of the PSO algorithm are written into two dimensional lookup table and implemented in both models. Experimental setup consists of remotely controlled industrial variable speed induction motor drive with Rotor Field Oriented Control (RFOC) and the load. Both simulation and experimental results are analyzed and discussed. All achieved results demonstrate expected performance of the energy optimal control of the induction motor drive based on the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":369921,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Industrial Electronics and Applications (INDEL)","volume":"370 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131882152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A large number of architecture proposals for Automated Driving Systems (ADS) are aiming at addressing the challenge of safety. These solutions typically define redundancy schemes and quite commonly include self-checking pair structures, e.g., commander/monitor approaches. In such structures, the problem of false positive failure detections arises, i.e., the monitor may falsely classify the output of the commander as being faulty. In this paper, we review an ADS architecture for fully automated driving and propose a concept to remove false positives in a systematic way. We formalize our proposal in an abstract model and prove the absence of false positives by-means of k-induction. A reference to a technical report is given that contains a detailed discussion of the proof procedure.","PeriodicalId":369921,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Industrial Electronics and Applications (INDEL)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127166741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unexpected situations, like hardware failure caused by temperature conditions or lighting strike on vehicle, can lead to indeterministic behavior of affected component in the observed system. This paper observes synchronization aspects of TTEthernet network through simulations, when in the network exists a component under failure. Specifically, startup time of the network components is assessed, when single-fault tolerant configuration of TTEthernet is used. Two failure scenarios are analyzed: Fail-Arbitrary scenario of End System and Fail-Omission scenario of switch. All simulations are performed by simulator developed by us in the OMNeT++ Discrete Event Simulator.","PeriodicalId":369921,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Industrial Electronics and Applications (INDEL)","volume":"215 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133908402","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concept of distributed power generation introduces various stability-related challenges into the power system operation. Consequently, safe and reliable operation imposes the need to understand, describe and estimate the system stability through impedance-admittance measurements and identification. As in a present day network configuration the sources and loads can either be of ac or de nature a flexible device capable of ac or de measurements in required. The four-quadrant Cascaded H-Bridge topology features high output voltage resolution and high effective switching frequency which enables high-dynamic, high-fidelity voltage perturbation injection for medium voltage measurements. Mover through the hardware and control reconfiguration it is able to operate both as an ac or a de device. This paper presents the flexible medium voltage Cascaded H-Bridge converter for impedance / admittance measurement. The effectiveness and flexibility of the topology is shown through a case study where the terminal characteristics of a Modular Multilevel Converter are measured and the influence of different parameters on the shape of the characteristics is evaluated.","PeriodicalId":369921,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Industrial Electronics and Applications (INDEL)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131469156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This task is very complex due to stochastic nature of input variables such as wind speed, solar irradiance, ambient temperature and electric load. Further concern is modeling of the power consumed by cooling devices which is also uncertain variable dependent both on ambient conditions and power dissipation of telecommunication equipment. The realistic behavior of the station both in electrical and thermal terms can be analyzed only by a comprehensive probabilistic simulator. The basic idea of this paper is to systematically vary the main input parameters (rated powers of wind turbine and photovoltaic system along with battery capacity) and to run a Monte Carlo simulation for each considered variant observing the technical and economic indicators. Based on the minimum annual costs, it is possible to choose the best available investment solution. Simple optimization can be extended to multi-objective by adding some additional goals, such as minimizing the operating time of a diesel backup generator. The optimization method is tested on an illustrative example of a base station located in the Mediterranean area.","PeriodicalId":369921,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Industrial Electronics and Applications (INDEL)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128909477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
