The counterbalanced research design, which consisted of three different groups of year four pupils with three treatments applied to each group, was used with the Proficiency in Volume Test (PVT) administered before and after each of the three CLR cycles. Cluster sampling was used to select three groups of 115 Year Four pupils consisting of 59 males and 56 females. PVT consisted of five questions based on the five strands of proficiency in volume: Q1 (conceptual understanding), Q2 (procedural fluency), Q3 (strategic competence), Q4 (adaptive reasoning), and Q5 (productive disposition). It has a total score of 15 and the indicators of proficiency in volume are low proficiency (0–4), average proficiency (5–10), and high proficiency (11–15). The data were analysed using the paired-sampleCLR cycles-test and one-way ANOVA in SPSS version 24. The results of the paired-sample t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the mean scores of the pre- and post-tests for each CLR cycle. The results of the paired-sample t-test for cube in the first, second and third cycles of CLR were: t = –6.74, df = 37, p < 0.05; t = –19.82, df = 37, p < 0.05; and t = –22.10, df = 38, p < 0.05, respectively. The results of the paired-sample t-test for cuboid in the first, second and third cycles of CLR were: t = 3.15, df = 37, p < 0.05; t = 9.87, df = 38, p < 0.05; and t = 20.76, df = 37, p < 0.05, respectively. The results of oneway ANOVA showed that there was a significant in the post-test mean scores between the first, second and third CLR cycles. The result of one-way ANOVA for cube was F (2,112) = 53.32, p < 0.05, while for cuboid it was F (2,112) = 71.16, p < 0.05. The CLR cycles carried out helped teachers in developing better teaching plans based on the CPA approach as well as enhancing Year Four pupils’ proficiency in volume.","PeriodicalId":36930,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Educators and Education","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42183495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many factors, including knowledge of future pay and other occupational insights, influence university major selection. This paper reports the findings from an empirical study of diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate on the relationship between gender equality and university support with students’ views on STEM careers, as well as their persistence and attrition in STEM majors. The findings from PLS-SEM analysis shows that gender equality did positively affect students’ views on STEM careers and students’ persistence in STEM majors. It was also found that gender equality did not affect students’ attrition. In contrast, the university support did not positively affect students’ views on STEM careers and students’ attrition in STEM majors. However, university support was found to positively affect students’ persistence in STEM majors. The implications of the findings are that the university can channel its support systems in nurturing the students’ skills and knowledge by providing physical and psychosocial support for the students to persist in STEM majors. Hence, encouraging more students to opt for STEM majors is necessary to enhance the global economy so that it can contribute to the well-being not just of the STEM graduates, but the society and nation as well.","PeriodicalId":36930,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Educators and Education","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41826823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nonetheless, intergenerational (IG) relationship is essential for teachers to access these social resources. Hence, through a systematic grounded theory design, this study looked into the IG relationship building process among teachers in the Philippine multigenerational basic education schools, based on a contextualized understanding of the teachers’ intergenerational diversity in terms of their age, period, cohort, and professional experiences. Smooth IG Relationship Building Theory eventually emerged from the grounded data that were gathered from 20 multigenerational Filipino teachers. This grounded theory offers five theoretical propositions: (1) Multigenerational teacher community offers a wide range of resources for professional and personal development of teachers, and access to these resources is unlocked by smooth IG relationships; (2) Smooth IG relationships are hindered by generational gaps, seniority, and isolating structures and programs of the schools; (3) IG values are important to ensure that smooth IG relations do not have underlying tensions beyond the surface interactions; (4) The quality of opportunities and strategies influence the nature of relationships that could develop among colleagues; and (5) Development of smooth IG relationships among colleagues is influenced by the school culture, Filipino social relations, gender differences and IG diversity.","PeriodicalId":36930,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Educators and Education","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48142059","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study analysed the trend of science teacher identity based on the number of citations, publication year, country contribution, and co-occurrence of keywords in these journal articles. This study showed that there was an increase in the publication of the topic of identity for science teachers in the last ten years. The results of the analysis showed that studies related to science teacher identity had been carried out in various countries where the United States is the country with the most contributions. We also identified core research topics concerning science teachers’ identity, such as identity development, professional identity, identity context and implication, which receive more attention than the other topics. This study concluded with suggestions for future projects to consider exploring the intersection of agency and practical work with identity and between social categories, especially in elementary education.","PeriodicalId":36930,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Educators and Education","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47319356","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Higher education institutions (HEIs) shut down to contain the spread of the virus and shifted to online learning environments. Due to uncertainties, instructors and students were unprepared to cope with the future. Accordingly, instructors and students had to embrace new technologies quickly. This study examines how students perceived remote learning and their level of satisfaction. The data collected were from a Malaysian private HEI that involved 2,097 undergraduate students quantitatively, modeled on Ramsden’s (1991) Course Experience Questionnaire (CEQ). The findings revealed the effects of six factors, i.e., instructors’ performance, students’ educational goals, the remote learning platform, study workload, online assessment, and learning support with a positive relationship on the overall satisfaction of remote learning. Policymakers, university administrators, and instructors could benefit from this study because it has demonstrated that several factors shape students’ satisfaction and affect their learning effectiveness in a remote learning environment.","PeriodicalId":36930,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Educators and Education","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67729445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this matter, students’ engagement in learning activities has been heralded as a quality indicator of the higher educational institutions’ performance as well as undergraduate students’ learning. However, there is a need to examine the level of undergraduate learning engagement based on the principles of good educational practices and a need to provide empirical evidence of the extent to which higher educational institutions in Malaysia support undergraduates’ learning and growth. For this purpose, the current study proposes a framework for quality teaching and learning in Malaysia by developing a measurement instrument to measure the quality of undergraduates’ learning experiences (QULEX) in Malaysian higher education. The current study evaluated the reliability and factor structure of the QULEX using a sample of 1,892 Malaysian undergraduate students. QULEX consists of 12 factors with 47 items to measure the quality of undergraduates’ learning experiences. The factor structure of the QULEX was examined by employing exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The findings showed that items loadings, composite reliability, convergent validity, and discriminant validity of the variables provide robust empirical evidence to support the implementation of QULEX in the Malaysian academic context. The findings from this study will inform policymakers and practitioners upon student feedback concerning the variables that will derive teaching and learning excellence.","PeriodicalId":36930,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Educators and Education","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49144994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This was undertaken by assessing the skills along the areas of ICT integration in pedagogy. Data shows that ESL teachers have moderate to high index along the areas of ICT literacy. Majority are categorised under advanced or merely moderate user of ICT in their pedagogical practice. These areas are along basic skills, software applications, production and data management. Be that as it may, the ESL participants need further upskilling on hardware management and information management. Taking into consideration these results imply that, there are gray areas which need to be unraveled by the department along the computerisation program to realize the purposes of execution. The researcher concludes that ESL teachers possess varying ICT literacy indexes. Given these data, there is a need to give due attention to the concerns of teachers along ICT literacy aspect to achieve optimum efficacy of the Department of Education (DepEd) computerisation programme. Teachers need to be upskilled on the digitalisation of classrooms.","PeriodicalId":36930,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Educators and Education","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47243380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In view of the importance of lexical knowledge in language development and the hypothesised superiority of pictorial stimuli, the present study tested the effectiveness of an image-driven intervention for receptive and productive vocabulary knowledge development among Malaysian Year 1 students. A quasi-experimental design was utilised, involving Experimental and Control groups (totalling 159 participants). Three tiers of testing were administered – pre-testing, post-testing to measure for recall, and delayed post-testing for retention. The Experimental group experienced five imagedriven sessions designed for lexical development (one session per week, 30 minutes per session). The Control group was not accorded the same treatment. Approximately 90% of the participants belonged to the B40 (Bottom 40%) group – the group with the lowest income level in Malaysia. Despite the lack of statistical significance, our findings on the whole show development with respect to the participants’ lexical knowledge after experiencing the image-driven intervention, with raw scores clearly indicating receptive and productive vocabulary improvement at both the recall and retention stages. The study’s findings extend the current knowledge base, especially within the Malaysian domain which suffers from an unfortunate lack of similar studies focusing on lower primary learners. Also, the results appear promising (with only five treatment sessions) and pave the way for more research concerning the effectiveness of the intervention among young ESL/EFL learners.","PeriodicalId":36930,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Educators and Education","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42056824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
