A combination of decentralized DC voltage droop control and centralized Optimal Power Flow (OPF) controller can maintain the MTDC network power flow with minimum power losses. This paper presents scenarios of droop-controlled radial MTDC network with the objective of minimizing the DC grid transmission losses supported with average value modeling and optimization approach. The droop characteristics are tuned for effective power-sharing among the receiving nodes. The OPF controller maintains the network operation within the allowed operational constraints during normal network operation (i.e., in case of variable power injection to the MTDC network. The simulation results of the MTDC network average value modeling and OPF are presented with the aid of the Matlab/Simulink platform.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127956169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Developmental disability is a lifelong disability that prevents children to do their day-to-day activities such as dressing, bathing and eating. There are a number of studies exploring the use of motion interaction games for children these children in English speaking countries. This study aimed to consider the design components for motion interaction games with Iranian children. Therefore, we considered the components of interaction games for rehabilitation through interviews with caregivers of children with developmental disability in Iran. Findings from this preliminary study suggest that motion games should focus on identified characteristics that are necessary to effectively support children, namely support for 1) using children`s contributions 2) designing multi-user motion games and 3) customization. Based on the results, we will make recommendations to design motion interaction games for Iranian children with developmental disability.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"183 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121615300","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The scientific and clinical evaluation of foot and gait pathologies can be obtained by performing plantar pressure distribution measurements. It is well known that most foot problems including falls faced by older adults occur during gait. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the un-normalised and normalised data based on weight and time values of contact pressures and peak contact pressures to be compared between older adults and adults in fifteen anatomically defined foot regions, covering the whole plantar surface to thoroughly study and understand the scientific underlying cause of impaired balance during gait with advancing age, particularly in mid- stance phase (when one limb has to be responsible to bear the body weight, thereby keeping body balance). Furthermore, it aimed to study whether taking into account the data normalised to subject’s weight and to the time required to finish the stance phase had implications on pressures and peak pressures comparison for the two cohorts. Six participants were recruited to perform eighteen trials of normal human walking using a floor-based pressure mat system. The results revealed higher values of contact pressure and peak plantar pressure for older adults’ group in a number of plantar regions, except the regions of heel and second toe during the mid-stance phase. In addition, weight and time normalised data revealed as well higher values in selected plantar regions, except the regions of heel and second toe for the older adults’ group, which had lower values when compared to the adults’ group.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121632074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are several technologies that had been developed under Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN). Generally, the existing technologies of LPWAN only cover a short distance in a wide area network and it will limit the performance of IoT applications. Thus, Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) is introduced to address the setback of LPWAN. LoRaWAN uses Long Range (LoRa) modulation to provide long range data communication with less power consumption. It is envisaged that these features could enhance the performance of IoT infrastructures. In this paper, LoRaWAN performance is analyzed to see the feasibility of LoRaWAN for indoor application. The study was conducted by using a multichannel LoRa gateway and several LoRa end nodes placed in different floors in Tower 2, Engineering Complex, Universiti Tekbnologi MARA, Shah Alam. The performance study was carried out in terms of packet losses, data rates and communication range. The results show that, the signal strength of LoRaWAN is suitable for indoor usage.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124516406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been applied in TV advertising, online advertising and mobile advertising. Another advertising medium using digital signage is being implemented widely in the world and has gained a lot of attention from advertisers. Its ability to deliver information in various forms of media elements makes it a popular option in the advertising field. However, academic studies on digital signage have been scarce and it is crucial to understand and explore how engagement of advertising using digital signage can benefit the advertisers and the consumers. By embracing the concept of engagement, this paper proposes an engagement framework for digital signage. Engagement in digital signage works like a continuum and it is achieved from the cognitive and emotional experiences evoked from the advertisement audience to their potential behavioral responses raised from the experiences.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124304441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A good maintenance strategy is therefore an essential component in a power system to prevent unexpected failures. In this paper, the causes of transformer failure within the power transformer systems have been reviewed. Data is obtained from the transmission substation assets from the whole of Peninsular Malaysia for the past 5 years. However, the challenge is that the problem descriptions of the datasets are all in text formats. Thus, text mining approach is chosen for the data analysis using R. This paper covers the most common steps in R, from data preparation to analysis, and visualization through wordcloud generation. This study mainly focuses on bag-of-word text analysis approaches, which means that only word frequencies per text are used and word positions are ignored. Although this simplifies text content dramatically, research and many applications in the real world show that word frequencies alone contain adequate information for many types of analysis. As a result of analysis, keywords like \"leak\", \"lightning\", \"animal\", \"cable\" and \"temperature\" are identified as the main causes of transformer failures based on the number of word frequency in the tripping dataset. Further enhancement could be made in the future to predict the failure beforehand using predictive analytics approaches.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126394779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Vehicular networks must be designed to tolerate fast movements and sudden changes to efficiently support to the hosted services. In this paper, we investigate the diversity gain order of the transmission mode over the smart cooperative vehicle network. Moreover, we formulate an advanced vehicular relaying technique to enhance the network connectivity to better serve the hosted cloud services. Sine-Cosine algorithm (SCA) is a random-based optimization that utilizes an elitism approach and adaptive step size in its strategy. The step size is linearly varied and thus has caused the algorithm to produce steady convergence trend towards an optimal solution. It also has resulted the algorithm unable to achieve the true optimal solution. On the other hand, Spiral Dynamic Algorithm (SDA) is a deterministic-based algorithm that offers a nonlinear trend of agents step size in its operation. Therefore, an adoption of spiral equation from SDA into SCA is proposed as a solution to increase SCA convergence speed and its corresponding accuracy. The proposed algorithm is tested with a set of benchmark functions. Its accuracy and convergence trend performances are measured and recorded. A nonparametric Wilcoxon Sign Rank test is applied to statistically analyze the significance improvement of the SSCA accuracy in comparison to original SCA. Finding from the accuracy analysis indicates that the proposed SSCA algorithm significantly outperformed the original SCA. Moreover, from a graphical result, it shows that the SSCA has faster speed compared to another contestant algorithm.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"2004 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125790869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
