UWB channel model that has been contributed in IEEE 802.15 SG3a is a wideband channel model of 6 GHz bandwidth, so we modify it to have 3 subband channels that are obtained by filtering conventional UWB channel considering center frequency and bandwidth of each subband. We demonstrate performances of MB-OFDM system under the UWB channel by simulation and verify the frequency and time domain diversity gains. We also compare the performance of a proposed SFBC (space-frequency block code) MB-OFDM system with that of conventional MB-OFDM system and manifest the extra spatial diversity gain of MB-OFDM UWB system. Simulation results show SFBC MB-OFDM system outperforms conventional MB-OFDM system about 1.5 dB of E/sub b//N/sub 0/ at target BER of 10/sup -4/.","PeriodicalId":368249,"journal":{"name":"IEEE/ACES International Conference on Wireless Communications and Applied Computational Electromagnetics, 2005.","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114693668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed algorithm first decomposes the multipath channel into a set of independent parallel additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) subchannels each with the signal of the user of interest. Signal detection can then be achieved on a path-wise-combining basis. According to different multiple access interference (MAI) suppression techniques, two algorithms respectively referred to as the JST-MVDR and JST-COP are proposed.","PeriodicalId":368249,"journal":{"name":"IEEE/ACES International Conference on Wireless Communications and Applied Computational Electromagnetics, 2005.","volume":"138 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114877890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using a U-shape narrow slot (the width of slot is about 1 mm), a wideband DRA can be obtained. Because two adjacent modes can be induced simultaneously; then, the bandwidth can be enhanced by these two adjacent modes. The bandwidth of narrow U-shape wide slot reaches about 13%. By this design, the bandwidth is enhanced almost four times more than the pure slot fed dielectric resonator antenna with presented materials.","PeriodicalId":368249,"journal":{"name":"IEEE/ACES International Conference on Wireless Communications and Applied Computational Electromagnetics, 2005.","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114879050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Steering delays have to be frequency independent in order to operate for broadband signals. A wide variety of true-time-delay steering techniques are used to achieve this. All of these techniques are subject to power loss, quantization errors and other problems depending upon the particular method used. This paper presents a new approach to steer a broadband beamformer without the need to employ steering delays. The approach is based on a broadband processing using discrete Fourier transform method to obtain time domain weights. This method estimates the weights of the Frost type processor with a specified frequency response in the look direction without using steering delays in front of the broadband processor. The simulation results show the performance of this method for various scenarios.","PeriodicalId":368249,"journal":{"name":"IEEE/ACES International Conference on Wireless Communications and Applied Computational Electromagnetics, 2005.","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127173181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This approach is based on implementing considerations suggested in 2000. In our approach an HF modem without using equalizer implemented which can communicate over several hundred bits per second with very low bits error rate. This improvement was obtained by changing the framing and the coding structures, which has been suggested in 2000, and by using the symbol time recovery approach, which is proposed by Zhu et al. (2003). In this paper, the symbol time recovery approach generalized for multipath fading channels. We implemented our approach on digital signal processor named TMS320F2811. Signals are received using a four element uniform linear array. A wideband IF is undersampled and individual RF channels are tuned digitally. Initially the Blackman-Tukey approach was considered, but ultimately a less complex approach was chosen since it provides suitable performance with fewer multiplication operations. The simpler approach correlates each element with the first element over time. An FFT across the correlation sums estimates the angle of arrival. Estimates are transferred to a PC for analysis and display using a USB interface. This hardware design supports expansion to sixteen elements for real time AoA estimation and beamforming.","PeriodicalId":368249,"journal":{"name":"IEEE/ACES International Conference on Wireless Communications and Applied Computational Electromagnetics, 2005.","volume":"60 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126766940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
