On the basis of DMD's physical microstructure, three aspects of properties are concerned: two dimensional discrete micromirror pixels, blazed diffraction gratings of rotated mirrors and pulse width modulation working principle. The following factors have been considered, namely, DMD resolution, mirror size, pitch, rotating angle, incidental angles of reference wave and diffracting conditions. The paper puts forward the sampling method on interference plane, phase compensation technique and no-bias binary hologram coding methods, which have been proved to be feasible and effective. Results on holographic code have been deduced and simulated, which are meaningful for the application of DMD in holographic video and realtime 3-D reconstruction.","PeriodicalId":367106,"journal":{"name":"Fourth International Conference on Image and Graphics (ICIG 2007)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124856196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A form of block-unit states is introduced to store the significance flag of coefficients and the value of the block-unit exponents. A form of block exponents is introduced to store the block exponents which are used to represent the max coefficient in a decomposed block. A new block depth-finding strategy is developed for searching insignificant sets at sorting stage. Experimental results show that the obtained PSNR values for the decoded images are very close to those of SPECK algorithm and the memory consumption is reduced by 9 times, the encoding timing is saved about 15%. Comparing with SPECK algorithm, this algorithm not only has better performance of the decoded images, but also is easy to implement, especially, it provides an efficient way for hardware implementation of wavelet embedded block coding.","PeriodicalId":367106,"journal":{"name":"Fourth International Conference on Image and Graphics (ICIG 2007)","volume":"144 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123266899","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The whole base-plane of the terrain to be simulated is first divided into several triangles by using the coordinates of limited known characteristic points on the plane. And then for each triangle, the three dimensional data of the simulated terrain are recursively generated according to a subdividing criterion based on the modified random midpoint displacement (RMD) method. Finally, the realistic visualization of the generated terrain data is implemented with PC computer by using VC++6.0 and OpenGL software programming. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides a good performance in generating various terrains such as multi-peak mountains, general flat terrains, and complex combined terrains in divinable and controllable manner; and it is a better solution to the shape uncontrollable problem encountered in the traditional FBM based methods for modeling natural terrains.","PeriodicalId":367106,"journal":{"name":"Fourth International Conference on Image and Graphics (ICIG 2007)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127536511","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the existing literature, results are known for studying the false negative and positive probabilities of the systems based on correlation detectors. Instead, in this paper, we study the false negative and positive probability models of dither modulation system which doesn't use correlation detector. We derive the false negative and positive probability models for dither modulation from the detection principle of the detectors. Expressions are derived both for the case of Gaussian noise and of no noise. The theoretical results are compared with the experimental results obtained in the case of random work and watermark, and the comparison validates the accuracy of the established models, and it also shows that random work and watermark have little influence on the false negative and positive probabilities, and this is different from the systems based on correlation detection.","PeriodicalId":367106,"journal":{"name":"Fourth International Conference on Image and Graphics (ICIG 2007)","volume":"142 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128586630","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, an algorithm based on wedgelet decomposition is proposed to extract linear features from remote sensing image. Firstly, beamlets can be generated by recursive dyadic partitioning, vertex marking and connecting in different scales, and beamlet transform is implemented as one important parameter to generate edge map of linear feature. Secondly, each dyadic square is split into two wedgelet segments, and wedgelet decomposition is implemented as the other important parameter to generate edge map of linear feature. The propose method can detect lines with any orientation, location and length in different scales. Experimental results show that the proposed method can extract linear features accurately from remote sensing image. It can be suited to remote sensing image processing and in practice it has surprisingly powerful and apparently unprecedented capabilities.","PeriodicalId":367106,"journal":{"name":"Fourth International Conference on Image and Graphics (ICIG 2007)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130172575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Silhouettes are determined simply by the normals of adjacent faces and the viewpoint directions. Thus, three kinds of triangles on the silhouette are defined: the Vertex Silhouette Triangle, the Edge Silhouette Triangle and the Angle Silhouette Triangle. By applying new rules of collapse and adding weight factors to the cost, the approximation which has the silhouette closer to the original model can be achieved, even when it leaves few triangles. The proposed algorithm is simple and effective, so it is suitable for the applications which consider silhouettes to be more significant than whole details such as the small-screen display case.","PeriodicalId":367106,"journal":{"name":"Fourth International Conference on Image and Graphics (ICIG 2007)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127808860","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
