Over the last view years, this technique is implemented in the industrial application for inspecting tools, such as in the geothermal industry. The design of the tomography system has been continuously improved from generation to generation by considering the reliability of the system in field. Fan beam tomography system is designed to measure various types of pipe, including geothermal pipe. The aim of this research is to design a fan beam tomography measurement system that adapts to mechanical structure condition and neighborhood. Hereafter to visualize the cross-section of a scaling pipe which varies in material density and geometry. The system is designed to represent 128 detectors that form a fan arc, with the gamma emitter positioned in the center system. Scanning was performed using gamma radiation source of Sc-46 with $15 times$ 10-3 Curie (15 mCi) activity. The system is driven by using two motors assisted by Arduino and Labview software based for automation and data acquisition. Fan projection angle 100 degrees and fan rotation increment of the scan is 5.625 degrees. The results shows that the system design is successful in visualizing cross-section of scaling pipe, as well as distinguish the density and geometry of the material. Scale or foreign materials are identified in geothermal pipe image, and brings harms in reducing performance during operation. Image reconstruction using the MATLAB application with measurement error analysis obtained values below 5%. It can be concluded that the fan beam tomography system prototype design is successful in displaying cross-sectional images and evaluating the performance of geothermal pipes.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115905501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One type of converter that has high voltage gain is an isolated converter. An isolated converter that usually comes with a transformer or coupled inductor leads to transformer core saturation problem that will increase the power losses, and the usage of the transformer makes this type of converter has a bigger size and dimension. To fix that, a new dc-dc converter topology is developed in this paper to acquire high voltage gain without using any transformer. This proposed dc-dc converter is using the active switches capacitor technique to achieve high voltage gain. The addition of a new configuration in this new topology leads to low voltage ripple on its capacitors, low voltage stress on its switches, and diodes. The steady-state analysis and comparative analysis are discussed in detail. Then, to verify the analysis result, simulation is done in this paper using the PSIM application.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130137119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The traditional droop control consists of voltage control and current control where the PI controller is used as compensation for the error. The droop control performance can be seen from the fast response of the system when load power sharing between two DC generating sources is enabled. The Fuzzy-PI controller as an intelligent control functions to improve the performance of droop control on the DC microgrid. The Fuzzy PI controller suggested is built with the aid of a closed loop control based on the power of each unit DCG (DC Generator), and accurate power distribution has been realized proportionally to the power ratings of each DCG taking into account load changes. The use of Fuzzy-PI in droop control makes the dynamic reaction quicker (0. 06s rise time) and microgrid system stability better compared with PI controllers. The proposed control strategy is completely tested with a Mathlab/Simulink simulation.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134232282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis was carried out on three different conditions that are when the vehicle in total load, in cornering and braking condition. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is used to investigate the structural behavior during those three different loading conditions. Different parameters were applied for each simulation. The results show that the maximum stress did not appear in the bolted joint area means the stress on this joint is still below the maximum stress of both composite and steel materials with stress value on this area in full load condition is 62 MPa, 54 MPa in cornering condition and 51 MPa in braking condition. By using this hybrid composite-steel chassis structure a lighter weight is obtained. The simulation shows the chassis weight is reduced by about 22.7% compared to full steel chassis with the same dimension.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128093163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Water energy can be used to generate electrical power using a very low head-type turbine. However, currently, energy from HPP tail water has not been appropriately utilized. This paper discusses the study of various types of very low head hydro power to exploit the potential of electrical energy in the HPP disposal channel. The chosen location is the Dago HPP, located in Bandung, West Java, owned by PT. Indonesia Power. Technical studies are necessary to determine the magnitude of electrical energy’s potential, the suitable type of technology application, and the investment costs requirement. The location survey knew that the Dago HPP has an average flow rate of 1.192 m3/s, 1.7 m of the head, and the potential electrical energy generation is around 13.9 kW. Several types of very low power plants apply as alternatives: water wheels, Archimedes screw turbines, propeller submersible turbines, and vortex turbines. Building Micro Hydro Power Plant (MHPP) using a waterwheel required an investment cost of around IDR 335 million, an Archimedes screw turbine of IDR 445 million, a submersible propeller turbine of IDR 360 million, and a vortex turbine of IDR 315 million. The comparison from the four VLH shows that the Vortex turbine is the most potential technology because it produces a large amount of electrical energy at the cheapest investment cost.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125508967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this problem, this paper explores the effect of volatility of fuel in on performance and emission in diesel engine. Diesel fuel was blended with N heptane as a volatility fuel into different massbased fraction (0%, 20 %, 40%, 60%, 80%). Thermodynamic Boost AVL simulation software under two engine load condition (10 Nm and 50 Nm) were simulated at 2200 rpm. The model of the engine using Yanmar TF 155 with 102 x 105 bore and stroke with 17,8 compression ratios. The start of combustion was fixed at 5°CA BTDC with 80-degree combustion duration for all test cases. Pressure in the combustion chamber shows a decrease of up to 15 percent for loads between 10 Nm to 50 Nm loads. The addition of volatility of the fuel indicates the atomization of the fuel and the process of mixing the fuel changes during the ignition delay process. Rate of heat release shows a decrease of up to 7 percent for loads between 10 Nm to 50 Nm loads. In the case of the volatility fuel of diesel/normal heptane, the rate of heat release (ROHR) shows that the higher volatility produced lower and faster than a mixture with less volatility. The high-volatility fuel has effect on NOx and soot emissions. At 10 Nm load and 80% Normal Heptane, the NOx concentration decreased 40 %. While running under 50 Nm load and 80% of Normal Heptane, the NOx concentration decreased 14 %. This is a advantaged of replacing the volatility fuel-air mixture causing a reduction in the heating value of air and fuel. Raising the load increases soot concentration.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121840499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally a proper Battery Thermal Management System is required to maintain the battery system in its optimum performance. In this study, paraffin is selected as the PCM for the BTMS and is applied in the battery module in form of a thermal wall between some battery cells. The location of the PCM-filled tubes and their subsequent effect is experimentally evaluated as the module is connected to dummy loads under forced convection from a blower. The PCM is also used as an airflow barrier to prevent the upstream battery cells getting too much cooling air while the rests have temperature rise. It is found that a suitable placement of the PCM could notably reduce the temperature non-uniformity that may lead to an increase of the battery module overall performance and durability.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127384520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Greenhouse emissions, depleted fossil energy resources, increasing fossil energy cost are reasons to maximize the utilization of renewable energy source. Hydropower extend an alternative energy source to cover the growing energy demand and release no emission at the same time for maintaining the climate change. In recent years, major focus of hydropower research is moving to small hydropower, as large hydropower opportunities are exploited and have high capital expenditure to build. A water vortex stream is a common phenomenon that we can see everyday life. Water flow out from the bathtub through outlet or water flow down in the sink after we finish washing the dishes, that is what we call vortex flow. and is a free-surface flow, homogenous fluid that contained water and air. This water vortex can be applied in low head small hydropower plant, recently known as gravitational water vortex power plant. River off Gravitational Water Vortex power plant (GWVPP) is one of low head turbine that can be used to generate electricity in small scale, pico-hydro. This study is focus on basin geometry. Models are developed to investigate the outlet diameter, depth discharge and basin geometry. It is found out that parameter of the basin should refer to source, which are flow rate, and the head of the water. It shows that spiral geometry for the basin gives symmetric and strong vortex and can be used as an alternative of conical basin.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124842049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
